... Kind of depends really where we take it. Some of the things in the old testament are very upsetting to me, and I often find myself asking God why He did those things. But in the end, when I'm done with the daily assignment, I come to terms with the events I've read over. I'm pacifist by nature, sometimes a little overly so. sweatdrop I'm not sure if it would be a good idea. Maybe analyzing some events for starters, but maybe not so much RP on the character's part.

What do the rest of you think of this?

That is a very novel idea. I like your creativity. I just think it may be a little hard to do, I'd be afraid of doing it wrong. But we could still have a Christian rp. We could try an end times rp (revelations), either by the book, or add some fantasy elements to it. Like demons have broken out and angels are coming down to help humanity fight them. There are all kinds of ways we can work that. Or we can focus our rp on a story, or something completely from our imaginations.

A Christian RP...that could take more than one direction, from fantasy adventure to psychological horror/suspense.

Question is, who wants to play God?

just kidding...

... Dunno guys. Just get a bad vibe about it. I... eh... have had some bad experiances regarding RP, leaves me a little nervous about that kind of thing. Though, I do enjoy RP... just maybe not that sort of thing.

It might require someone to play a bad guy, and if you've read the preface to The Screwtape Letters, you would know it was very hard for CS Lewis to put himself in a demon's mindset.

How about an adventure where angels help people out?

Maybe.

Well, I got an idea. It's something between tic-tac-toe and Jeopardy. Use questions regarding scripture. (EX: What does James 1:2-5 say?) A game could go until about 9 points are marked on the board in the form of a 9 grid tic-tac-toe game using x's and o's we could to a study on the chosen scriptures. In the end the score doesn't matter, simply fill the grid. We could also assign teams. I've got numorous studies we can draw these peices of scripture from. It would also help new believers learn scripture.

That sounds fun. Can you give an example of how it will work?

A lot of it would be RP, drawing a grid on a chalk board or something, and we could take turns on who would fill in the grid.

BTW...my bro-in-law and countless others wrestle with the same problem...how can a good and loving God demand that His followers wipe out entire nations and claim their land? (Deut. 31:3) God is love - how could He possibly order the deaths of millions, to destroy cultures? To our modern ears it sounds unbelievable, a justification of human greed and warfare.

But, we see what happens when God's word was not obeyed, over and over - the people whose lives they spared screwed them up royally, caused them to sin, and basically gave them a terrible future, wherein they were corrupted, tormented, enslaved, and eventually lost their land. (Psalm 106:34-42) More innocent blood was shed by sparing the heathens, ironically enough. If they had obeyed and killed every heathen that God told them to, they would have had a much more peaceful future and maybe the world today would have been that much better.

Imagine if you had the chance to kill Hitler as a child, knowing that you would spare millions of lives in many countries. Would you do it? Would you think that the command to kill him could not possibly come from God?
That's rhetorical, by the way.

Short answer: God knows what he's doing and he is good, all the time.

I can do some artsy stuff; maybe discounted for members of the guild. Or we could make it a place where we could refer members to different Christian Literature or Movies. I'm really not sure at this point... Just some thoughts....

About RPs: RPs can be a little.... scary? Maybe? You are as you think and I've noticed friends that RP dark/evil characters temporarily find themselves gravitating towards that character. They seem to have a darker atmosphere about them.

About God:
Like OV8ION said, God knows what he's doing. And we have to remember that these people were not his children. And I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure that when I have kids, I will feel a lot more partial to them then the neighbor's kids. Especially if the neighbor's kids egg my car and TP my house. God was telling the Jews to do what was best for them, even if it wasn't the best for the other people. Just food for thought.

There are so many creative people here in this guild. Maybe each of us could do something that we are good at? I seem to recall that there are some talented poets in here, maybe a poetry contest? If you need prizes donated don't hesitate to ask me.

An art contest?

Short story?

Maybe we could share something with one another that God has done for us, or something that has opened our eyes to something about Him?
