I'm old to be diagnosed type 1 (although I hear there are more and more adults). I'm 31, and was diagnosed 4 weeks ago, 24 July 2008.

I was 14 (April 20th, 200 cool when I diagnosed with type 1, so I knew what was going on. I was sort of scared, because my father died from his diabeties. I was so dehydrated also. I would drink like 2 liters (1/2 of a gallon for the Imperial peoples) and still be thirsty. Because my sister is also diabetic, I took my blood sugar with hers and it just redjustered high. So my my took me to our local hospital and I was offically diagnosed. I am probably the only person in the world to be sent home the same day I was dianosed. My mother knew what to do and my pediatrician told the ER doctor it was fine. But I had to go back to see the dietician.

I was 5... I don't remember a whole lot about it but I remember my mom talked to the doctor for a long time and I didn't know what was going on, Then my mom told me we had 2 hours to go home and pack everything we needed because we had to go to the hospital.

Im not diabetic, but im hypoglycemic(reactive). I was diognosed when I was 15 in the middle of sophmore year. I was never feeling right. I was constantly tired, and had really bad headaches. I went to the doctor, and they told me I was fine. About a month later,I passed out in school(I passed out 7 times in a series of 6 months but this time was the worst). It was bad, people around had said I had prob. been out a good 40 seconds(which when i was up I was unable to even speak) After I got rushed to the ER,it was then, where they checked my blood sugar over a series of 3 months, showing that I was more low than ever in normal range. My BS was 23.I spent two days, but only one over night in the hospital. I just turned 16 yesterday and im doing great and starting to enjoy my summer^^.

I was 6, and I think it was sometime in March 2000... (is it bad that I can't remember my diagnose date? gonk ) They caught my diabetes early (I was thirsty all the time and had to go to the bathroom way too often...), so I only stayed in the hospital for three days. I think my blood sugar was somewhere mid-500's. oh, and I'm Type1 in case you haven't figured it out already. 3nodding

July 11th, 2008. A month before my 13th birthday..... I have another disease and they have everybody with that disease checked for diabetes, but I didn't have any of the symptoms....... I remember that day so well, because my mom and I drove up to the doctor and they couldn't even give me the weird orange liquid because my sugar was too high already. Then we talked to the doctors, they took some blood tests and told us they would call when they knew. SO we went to the movies. Right when the movie was finished they called and said I had it so we got me a fruit smoothie and a cupcake......LOL

I was sixteen. In December last year, I didn't have diabetes. Then on January, when I went to the doctor for the last checkup, I'd gotten diabetes. They caught it so early, that I didn't have a single symptom. They diagnosed me with Diabetes type 2, and gave me metamorfin.
I kept having to increase my metamorfin because despite eating food that hardly contained any sugar, my bloodsugar was constantly over 12 in our measurement system.
Eventually, when I was on the full dosage of 2000mg metamorfin, it made me so nauseous that I could hardly eat. And my bloodsugar was still too high.
So after having high bloodsugar for over three months, I finally was hospitilized and re-diagnosed with Diabetes type 1 in progress, and was trained with insulin pens.
ToThe fact that it actually took five months from I was diagnosed with diabetes till I got an appointmend with the diabetes nurse is kinda annoying. ><

I don't remember the exact date I was diagnosed... But it was in 2003, when I was in the 4th grade.
My parents and I had no idea what the symptoms were like, so I went for a week or so just thinking I had a really bad flu virus. But I had lost weight to a dangerous point, and was drinking unnaturally large amounts of liquids... only to barf it all back up until I was dry-heaving. You know, all the usual signs, but we didn't know then.
Finally one night, my mom woke me up around 10pm and said we were going to the emergency room. I was really out of it for the entire night, but I do remember that they made us sit around in the waiting room until 1am. And that I was in a lot of pain. I also vaguely remember an ambulance ride to another hospital.
The next morning, a woman came to wake me up and give me a shot. I figured if I pretended I was asleep, she wouldn't give it to me. (Oh, the ideas little kids come up with... xD) It turns out if my mom had waited one more day to take me in, I would have slipped into a coma.
And now here I am. Not much else to tell. I've never really had any huge scary diabetes-related mishaps, either. I think I'm fairly lucky. :3
