One of the men glanced at Calli and briefly left the other pair. As he approached, she took the opportunity to look him over. His face was typically European, and his walk was confident. She watched his eyes and wondered if he was offended at her nosiness.

Ariai blinked as she watched Georg go. "Um, okay then," she shrugged. She smiled at Clifford and slid into the seat across from him. "I am not little anymore, Clifford," she said gently. "In human terms I'm pretty old." She let out a soft laugh and shook her head. "Really old." She leaned forward. "So, how have you been? Well, I hope, what will the times changing."

"My wandering feet have lead me back home again as normal. Really it is good to be back. I think I might stay an extended period of time for once." The gentleman said as he smiled at her. Not little indeed...and yet she was younger then him still. He however didn't point this out for it would come to no end. There were vampires that where young then him and yet had just as much potencal as he did.

"Times change many things and yet some things stay the same. Like your lovely face. It hasn't changed since last we met. However mankind seems to have changed in many ways. Some still fear us, some want to be us, and some really don't care at all. All we can do is watch to see what will happen next." Clifford finished and then looked to the direction that Georg had gone. In the dim light he saw the outline of a woman. Perhaps she was listening in...perhaps she was with the enemy...who could tell. He turned his attention back to his lovely companion. "So tell me...what do you know of what has been going on lately? I just got back into town this evening."

"Ah..." Ariai paused to blow her drink to cool it. "It's good to hear you will stay for a while." She smiled warmly at him, then her visage turned serious.

"I just returned from a trip around the area," she said, suddenly vague, waving one of her delicate hands. "About a week ago...lately more and more vampires have been falling ill, and I have been treating most of them. Nothing serious, always curable, but most of the vampires around the area have been coming back to me with the same symptoms, same illnesses. It concerns me, Clifford, because everytime they come back to me, it seems that the illnesses is just a bit more harder to get rid of."

She sipped her tea and then set it down daintily on the table. "I'm worried that it might be the doing of some of the humans that detest us. If they manage to find out a potent enough diease, those humans will not hesitate to pick us apart and kill us off." She looked at him with a slightly depressed expression, but this was to be expected from her, because she was sometimes a depressed vampiress.

As Georg finally reached the woman looking at him, he crossed his arms and looked at her. "Pardon me, madame, I do not indend to be rude, but I must wonder why you were looking at us just recently. I hope you do not mind to answer my question." he said. His manners were as usual polite, and even if his body language didn't treathen in any way, his eyes told that it was better if his question was answered with the truth.

Calli smiled apologetically. "Just curiousity, sir. I meant no harm." She felt intimidated. Something about his eyes demanded respect and obedience. Calli had only been in the court of the King and Queen once, but the atmosphere was the same. She stepped back and bowed. "I am Calliope Della Corte."

"In that case, allow me to introduce myself. I go by the name Georg von Ostwaldt." Georg said and bowed deeply. "May I ask what the cause of your curiosity was?" Georg din't belive she was a suspicious character any more, but he kept on asking her questions to confirm this. Also, he didn't want to interrupt his friends talking too soon. However, nothing in his expression told what he thought.

'Where have I heard this name before?' Calli thought. To Georg, she said, "I am always curious. I've been looking for someone for...a rather long time." She studied his face. "I'm not sure I'll ever be able to stop looking."

Clifford reached out and places a hand on Ariai's hand in a comforting jesture. "I am sure thiings will settle down before that happens. I have faith in our kind. As humankind changes to adapt so do we."

Ariai smiled at Clifford, and grasped his hand to squeeze it. "Thank you Clifford. It means so much to hear words of comfort from you." She went back to sipping her tea, but her eyes were diverted to Georg and a vampiress across the street. "Do you know her?" she asked, tilting her head towards them. "I don't think I've seen her before..."

Slamming down a book, she got up and grabbed her car keys and jacket. "I need to get outta this dump," she muttered. She needed to become part of the investigation on the 'zombies' strolling around the city. The police could not explain it but she knew she could. And she knew exactly where to start.

"All I need to do now is find one of them," she sighed as she walked out of her building. She knew of them and they knew how to contact her... but she ahd no way of locating any of them. 'Of course I don't... I'm generally asleep when they come out,' she thought as she walked away from her building. The "them" she was thinking of were straight out of horror movies: Vampires. Somehow she had become on the select few who knew about their existance in the world. Because of this, she was wondering why she had not been contacted already about the recent happenings in the city.

"I seriously need a new job," she muttered as she passed a talking pair on the street, unknowling passing by a haven for those she sought. She reached a bus stop and pulled out her wallet. She did not drive; she felt it was a waste of money that could be spent on more important things. She stuck her keys in her motuh as she dug through the wallet for her spare change. She had almost got enough when another person passing by knocked into her and sent her wallet and bus money flying to the ground, a few cards and some money scattered every where. "Bloody Hell..." she growled as she stooped to pick up her change.

Adrien had wandered endlessly by nights, and hid in dark alleys by day; he knew enough about himself to know that the sun was unforgiving to cursed beings such as himself. A burn upon his face was in plain sight, for all to his his foolishness. Oddly enough, even his blouse was scorched, and the skin beneath it. He looked as if he'd just missed being burned alive on a stake by mere seconds.

His hair was in disarry, his ribbon having fallen out of place days ago. Sweat-dampened locks of tawny rested upon his trembling shoulders like the limp arms of a squid, wanting so badly to be lively and reach out to prey just within reach. It seemed every part of Adrien was dead now. Dead, cold; a shell hosting a mind, nothing more. He was hollow and unwhole. Something was missing, he could feel it like a rock in his boot.

It was night once again. Whimpering, he managed to force himself out of the box-shelter he had created just before that morning's dawn, showing himself to the unforgiving world beyond the alley. He had a brief moment to wonder if he should try theiving from the house that stood before him, though thinking better of it. He didn't need more trouble. He had enough on his plate as was.

What made things worse, however, was the undying thirst for blood.

((If you guys get tired of typing his ful name call hiim Cliff....just not Cliffy or he will hurt you XD))

Cliff shook his head. "Never seen her before. I can tell she isn't as old as either of us though." It was true that Clifford had an uncanny way of telling if a vampire was as old as he was. Not that it effected his behavior towards them much. With moving a wisp of his raven hair from his face he smiled slightly at Ariai. "Could you tell me where the royal family happens to be? I would love to see them. Maybe you could show me."

At the near by bus stop a young lady had dropped her wallet. Clifford had always been known as a gentleman and so excused himself politely from Ariai's presece before going over and helping the young woman collect her things. "Here you are." He said handing her some of what she had dropped.

"May I ask who it is you are looking for?" Georg asked. "If I happen to be of aid, it would greatly honour me." He was still unused to the ways of talking these days, and his manners were still mostly the same as they had been when he died. Still, it was of little concern for him, even if some people misunderstood his intentions at times.

"Yeah, thanks," the woman muttered as she grabbed her stuff from him. She was in a foul mood from her lack of work. With an exasperated sigh, she fished out a business card that read:

Faith Anderson
Paranormal Investigator
There is no paranormal phenenomenon I cannot solve!

Along with those words was her office number, her fax number, and her cell phone number. She knew she looked desperate but she handed it to the man. "I doubt you'll ever use this, but if you ever have any problems, give me a call. I'll even throw in a huge discount since you helped me out here," she told him. It was a small attempt at bringing in some business. After all, if she did not get anymore cases she would probably be evicted from her apartment. Her landlord wasn't very happy with her since he rent was always late.
