Lighting Prompt Response -Dragons and Flowers-
NOTE: This was a joint response between Nyoko and Truth.Be.Told.
Anima hummed happily as she walked ahead of Nyoko and Animus, waiting patiently once she reached the door. Her brother sighed and fished out his key, unlocking the door so Anima could dash in excitedly. "A little impatient, Anima?" The albino just smiled at Animus and nodded. "The incense!" The girl spun around a bit as she continued humming.
Nyoko laughed softly as the girl twirled around, her lips quirking slightly as she lifted the bag that held their respective scents. "You mean this?" she hummed, walking over to a nearby table to carefully beginning extracting the burner and the small vials of oil.
"Yup!" Anima walked over to the table, being careful not to bump Nyoko. Even unopened, the smell of the incenses leaked out a bit. And Anima couldn't help but take a deep breath and imagine what they would smell like lit. Animus, on the other hand, stayed a bit away, wrinkling his nose. "Did you have to get such strong ones?"
"Surely you can't be so sensitive! You know, these are both scents known for their sexual energy," Nyoko hummed, uncorking the vial of Anima's Ylang Ylang and offering it to the girl to poor into her set up burner. "Be careful not to spill it, and I'll light it for you."
"Really?" Animus was quite curious now, ignoring the scents now. Anima, completely oblivious, took her incense from Nyoko and poured it into its burner with the utmost of care. Once the vial was empty and the burner full, she handed the empty container to the kitsune. "Didn't spill any."
Nyoko had to stifle the giggle at Anima's solemn warning, and she pressed the cork back into the vial before leaning down. She carefully summoned a small kitsune-bi and guided it through the wick of the candle before allowing it to dissipate. The candle quickly lit, heating up the oil in the burner and allowing the flowery scent to fill the air. "Yes. Although Ylang Ylang has the stronger energy of the two. Dragon's Blood is also used for power in rituals," Nyoko continued, pulling out the vial of blood-like oil with a mischievous grin.
Everyday, Animus found himself learning something new. "I think I'd rather like Dragon's Blood then. Power can be applied to many things~" He returned Nyoko's grin with his own toothy one. Anima just looked back and forth between the two, eyebrow raised, before her nose caught a whiff of the lit Ylang Ylang. She smiled brightly and her attention was now on the incense, resisting the urge to just move the burner to a spot where she could curl around it.
"Dragon's Blood is a good all around incense," Nyoko said, uncorking her own vial and inhaling the spicy, intoxicating scent of the oil. And then she gently poured it into her own burner before carefully lighting it. The oil heated and the scent wafted upwards, and she could feel the tension unwinding from her muscles.
Animus chuckled. He would deal with the smells. Anima suddenly squeaked and blinked. "Nyoko...brother...Smoke is doin' something funny..." She watched as a smokey ylang ylang flower bloomed, rising from the top of the incense. Animus looked over, eyebrow raised. Even he knew something like that wasn't commonplace. "Okay...that's strange."
"You know, I heard about this place from a customer who stopped by The Den a few months ago. Her kid mentioned something about magic oil... Maybe it's enchanted with a spell that makes the smoke form certain shapes," Nyoko hummed thoughtfully, watching curiously as a wispy dragon rose from her own incense, swimming through the air to lick her cheek in a mock-kiss before its form dissipated.
"Ooooo...Heehee...I like it." Anima watched as the flower finished blooming and petals began to fall from it. "Aw~ It's dying..." Animus couldn't help but be a bit suspicious. "I don't like Dragon's Blood now."
"Why? Because the smoke is a flirt?" Nyoko asked, laughing lightly as another dragon curled upwards. Instead of flirting, this one spread it's jaws and emitted a burst of smoke that curled in a meek imitation of flames.
"Yes." Animus crossed his arms across his chest, looking like a sullen child now. His serious look was interrupted by a giggle from Anima. "Look! It bloomed again!" Indeed, the smoke flower had started once more, continuing its birth and death. "It's pretty and smells nice!"
"It sure is pretty, Anima. What do you think of my dragon?" Nyoko asked, smiling as the dragon disipated again. It was interesting, to watch the cycles of the smoke. Anima's delicate flower was the exact opposite of the fierce dragon that would swim from Nyoko's oil, dancing through the air before vanishing again...

Awakening Prompt Response -Sun and Moon-
NOTE: This was a joint response between Nyoko and Truth.Be.Told.
This was where Anima was most comfortable. In their little ritual room, surrounded by nothing but love. The incenses had been placed in their burners, and set lovingly on the altar, with everything else...and the smell coming from them made Anima even more comfortable. And Nyoko was leading the ritual, as always when it was just the house. They were nearly half way through...
And that was when Nyoko noticed they were missing a key element... Anima had set up the ritual space, but she couldn't blame the girl. Even she was forgetful after all. So she smiled and moved to glance at Anima.
"I think we forgot something. I must've left our offerings in the kitchen," she said softly, letting the blame rest with herself.
Anima blinked...then blushed. She'd forgotten the offerings! She knew she'd forgotten something! "I can go get them, Nyoko." Anima couldn't believe she'd forgotten...Setting things up was where her memory normally didn't fail!
"Would you, I'll make an opening in the circle for you," Nyoko said, smiling at the girl she saw as her little sister.
Anima nodded and went about exiting the proper way...clockwise to not break the circle, then waited for Nyoko to open it. Once it was open, she dashed out to get the forgotten items.
Nyoko awaited Anima with a small smile, watching the smokes of the two incenses rise and curl around each other.
Quickly grabbing the bottle and plate of cakes from the kitchen counter, Anima ducked back into the room, coming back into the circle once it was okay. The smoke of the ylang ylang seemed to grow larger, the strange flower the appeared in the smoke growing with it.
The dragon too was growing larger, opening its jaws in a faux-roar as the red smoke grew thicker. The fur of her tails fluffed at the impending sense of doom that seemed to linger as the smoke continued to plume...
Anima could, for a brief moment, see two vague, humanoid forms as the smoke grew, but they flickered out after the smoke filled the entire area around the altar...She put the plate and bottle down, curious...but squeaked when the sound of glass breaking reached her ears. She stared at the still thick smoke with wide red eyes.
A string of rather colorful curses met Nyoko's ears as the smoke dissipated, leaving a young boy hopping on on leg and groping blindly for his bare foot, which was currently dripping blood. She couldn't help but stare at the small child, who seemed to be ignoring her very existance at the moment.
Next to him was another child, this one a girl, who was trying not to giggle and reach the boy. "I told you standing there would be bad, brother." Anima just blinked...then took off the sash around her waist. "Hopping around only makes it dig in deeper..."
"I'm not hopping on it! Gah, help me pull out the glass, would you?" he huffed, awkwardly moving back to plop down on the ground in front of the alter while Nyoko stared at him incredulously. Were those scales on his cheeks? And those eyes! Slit pupils...
The girl sighed and proceeded to help the boy pull the glass shards from his foot. Anima blinked...and then it clicked. The girl had a ylang ylang flower in her hair! And the closer she got to the two, the stronger the incense smells were...as if they were stuck on the children. "Are you like Miss Anbu?" The girl blinked at Anima confused. "Who is this 'Anbu'? And why would I be like her, haha-ue?" That left Anima confused. "W-well...Anbu was born from oil! Were you? And what's haha-ue mean?"
"Haha-ue is a japanese term for mother, commonly use by young children," Nyoko explained almost instantly, used to clarifying her own usage of Japanese expressions to Anima. She couldn't quite believe it... Apparently, that boy was right. But she doubted all of the incenses in Solace Scents spawned children, else there would have been more children coming in to The Den.
The boy merely hissed as the glass was pulled out and winced, tilting his head to leer at Nyoko almost accusingly. "What are you looking at, `Kaa-san?"
Mother? Anima...a mother? So...they WERE like Anbu. The girl just smiled at Anima after she finished pulling the glass from the boy's foot. "So...haha-ue...What's my name?" A name...Anima had never named anything more intelligent than a goldfish!
Nyoko merely waited, observing the two children curiously. They already seemed to have formed a bond, despite having just been born. It rose the question, had they been aware even as oils? Able to somehow communicate with each other? So many questions...
"Me too. I think I deserve my name first, since I'm the Onii-san and all," the boy huffed, emerald eyes glaring at Nyoko almost challengingly.
A name... It had to suit him... He was a fiery boy, that was for sure... And it hit her. "Asa. You will be known as Shirohana Asa," Nyoko said decisively, nodding as if to affirm her choice. Named for the sun... It suited him.
Anima blinked and thought...The two were like...like night and day...sun and moon...That was it! Anima smiled brightly. Asa meant sun, so..."And you're Yue Cross!" Though Anima was certain the two were like brother and sister somehow...She couldn't help but give her family name to the girl who had called her mother. Mother...
That term still sat strangely with the albino...
"Let it be known, that even though you two have different surnames, you are still siblings. After all, Anima's brother is my one true love," Nyoko purred, her lips curling slightly at the look on Asa's face.
"Lame," he groaned, rolling his eyes and getting back to his feet, glaring at the invisible boundry of the circle. "So, can we go get something to eat or what? Hearing you blow that much smoke is making me hungry..."
Yue sighed and just pat her brother on his head. "Be patient. Oh! Those look yummy haha-ue!" Anima looked to the forgotten cakes and nodded.
"They need to be blessed first...and your foot needs taken care of..." She looked to Nyoko, clueless to what to do.
"I think the gods will forgive us for cutting this Esbat short, don't you?" Nyoko joked, smiling and moving to the front of the alter...
