Little Alegria
I don't think its a matter of right or wrong. It does depend on how you look at it. If you don't try to be like the witches then it can be okay. Its a magical book, and thats were it should stay- in the book.

I'm with Little Joy (Alegria) on this one.

One word: FICTION.

((Though, since the Christian Church is somewhat responsible for writing multi-volume texts about the occult, creatures of the occult, and even worse, how to summon demons from Hell, it kinda amuses me. Ah well, different time period, superstition was rampant and everyone was crazy about witch hunts... rolleyes ))

I know of Wiccans...I'm talking about Christian occult, not so much Wiccans. If they want to believe in their witchcraft religion, its their funeral.
((when I say Christian occult, I mean that we've practically given Hell an entire hierarchy instead of just having Lucifer as the ruler of Hell...he still is, it just that there's an entire host of high ranking demons forming a 'senate/parliament' underneath him and six other high ranking demons...'tis a strange world...))

As for 'witchcraft', there's 'witchcraft' in all religions, including Christianity. Islam (radical Islam) considers our traditions to be 'witchcraft', which is why Christians are usually labeled as 'infidels'. It's that whole 'everyone else who isn't _______ is a witch/infidel/heathen/pagan/etc. I say leave the Wiccans alone, they're a tiny religion that will die out in due time. It happened with the pagans we converted when Christianity spread throughout Europe.

And since you've dabbled in Wicca personally, answer me this: Have you tried any of their "spells"? If so, has any of their "sorcery" ever worked?

No never tried any spells personally I wasn't that far into it, HOWEVER I was aware of the spirits and things that stuff brought around. It was NEVER comfortable and I was ALWAYS worried. Not like being a Christian. Sure I still have worries & troubles. But If I take the time out and pray they tend to go away.

But if you know the books are fake, then how is it bad to read?

*Sigh* I have said time and time again. Witchcraft is real, It even warns against it in the bible.

Deuteronomy 18:10
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in[fn1] the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,

It's possible that the spells and stuff that the fictional characters in Harry Potter are not real. But fact is. The concept of witchcraft is very real! It's also possible that if ANYONE reads those books, satan could use them to drive you away from God. In all honesty. ANYTHING us kids do now a days can draw us away from God...Music, Videogames, TV, Movies, and the internet! But Allz I say is be careful. As the old saying goes, Give satan an inch...he will take a mile!

The Harry Potter series is a great set of fiction. I said that I would never read or watch them. I gave up on that when I saw the first movie. I've read every single one and am sad that it is over, except for the movies of course smile The books are fake so I see no wrong in reading them and watching the movies.
