((As of now, I don't know when I'll be on again. I might be losing my computer... I'm sorry for not having any IC posts, but right now I'm more concerned with making sure all my writing is saved to disks. See you around sometime I hope...))

Ariai opened the door and immediately sensed his discomfort. "I'm sorry," she spoke. "I didn't realize you had just woken up. Would you like me to go outside to wait while you change?" Her face was splashed with a bright pink color. In all her years as a vampiress, she had never ever seen a nude man. She supposed it was because she was so evasive of those kind of men. Thoughts like lust and shameless desire those could be easily sensed with her power. "Sorry," she repeated, and hurried out the door, shutting it closed behind her.

Faith sat at her desk, writting down some notes about her current assignment. She just wanted to get it over with as quickly as possible. She was weary about getting attacked again and she almost missed her apartment.
((it's short, it's crappy, but y'all will cope, right? And no worries Ariai, I won't be like Duncan and disappear forever! I will be back!))

Adrien was quite confused by the whole incident, but took the moment of privacy presented to him as a chance to change into some clothing. He was rather slow getting out of bed, but he managed to get his body into motion once the fact that someone was waiting for him sunk in through his skull. Back to the closet, he picked another outfit that pleased his eye, splashed his face with water from a basin, dried off his hair and face with a towel, and combed back his damp locks. Once that was taken care of, he made his way to the door and opened it.
"I'm sorry..." he began, his cheeks flushed. "I'm not used to a night schedual..."
((Gomen!! I'm, like, so lagging this rp! All my fault!!))

Ariai shook her head and smiled. "I should be apologizing to you, Adrien. That was an invasion of privacy; I had no right to go in without making sure you were alright with it." She looked him up and down. "Very good! It seems you're starting to understand 'vampire style', as we so fondly call it. And don't worry about schedule, that you will get used to in time." She paused before heading down the hallway. "Would you like breakfast, Adrien? There's tea and toast downstairs."

((saddly my computer is MIA for a little bit while it gets repaired...poor thing. Anyways I am on my mother's computer and I have to be very careful about what I type right now so I can't post. I hope to rejoin you perminately soon.))

"Sure," Adrien said, closing the door behind him and following after the woman. "So...Ar...ay?" his cheeks flushed with embarrassment; he hated mispronouncing people's names. "Forgive me, my mind's still fuzzed from sleep. Er...do you know if we do anything around here, besides eat and sleep? I think someone is getting me some carving equipment, but what else is there to do?"

"It's alright." She paused before starting down the stairs. "We train," she smiled. "Clifford and I will be teaching you and Ms. Anderson defensive techiques, and maybe you'll learn how to wield a weapon. Maybe a quarterstaff or something of the like for you...Anyways, besides training, we go around the human world during the night and interact with humans. It provides a chance to get to know them better and perhaps find some information that may be useful to us."

Stretching her legs, Faith yawned and stood up. SHe was getting tired of sitting around and doing nothing. "If I don't do something soon I'm going to die from boredom!" she groaned as she fished through her desk for some spare cash. She usually kept some money hidden in various plaes for just in case emergencies.
"AH-HA!" she exclaimed as she found a ten dollar bill hidden under a stack of old papers. "Dinner time!" she sang happily and shoved the bill in her pocket. Ten dollars was enough to get her a half decent meal at the closest fast food restaurant. Grabbing her jacket, she headed out of her office for a late dinner.

"...Oh," he said dully, hanging his head a bit. Yes, he'd already been working with his father, but Adrien was still just a child yet, and he did have fun after he was finished with the day's labor. What Ariai had just explained didn't sound like fun to him at all - it was just more work and physical labor. That, and having to talk with people. He was shy...what sort of mess had he gotten himself into?
"If you don't mind me asking," he began, stratching the back of his head as he tried to think of the best way to word his question. "How long have you been a...a vampire?"

"How long...I've been a vampiress?" Ariai stopped completely and turned around to face him. "Well...it's hard to say. I've been a vampiress for so long, I hardly remember how long it's actually been. I'd say...about 2,000 years or so. I was bitten when I was 21 years old, and that's why my appearance hasn't changed. When you get changed into a vampire, the appearance that you had at the time of your transformation will stay with you forever." She paused. "Why do you ask, young Adrien?"

Adrien couldn't help but shiver violently - he'd never in his life imagined living that long. Wouldn't living in general become a repetitive thing that became boring after just two-hundred? People were meant to die - that was how life recycled. This...this vampirism...this was a play on what the gods above willed to be. This was not natural. Surely...and interacting with human beings...what if he became close with some mortal? He couldn't bear to live for all eternity, seeing all his mortal friends die before his eyes, while he gained not a wrinkle of age. And he couldn't bear the thought of turning someone into a monster like himself....
"I can't do this..." he whispered, his throat choked up with the tears he held back. "I cannot live like this...Please," he said suddenly, gripping the front of the woman's shirt in a white-knuckled grip. "When I have avenged my parents, see to it that I am properly disposed of. I have not the heart to commit suicide, but I cannot live like you are...I cannot just exist for so long...it's not natural..."

Ariai let out a quiet breath of understanding. She brought him in close, hugging him, comforting him to the best of her ability. "I'm sorry Adrien. It is hard, I know. We shouldn't have put you through this..." She stroked his hair in a motherly fashion. "I'm so sorry," she whispered. "When you have avenged your parents, then I will try my best to relieve you of your life. But as of now there is no known way to kill a vampire, unless you were to go out into the morning sunlight. But..." She sighed and felt her own tears starting to form. "It wouldn't be your wish to commit suicide, would it? Ending your life in pain like that...it isn't the way it was meant to be. Neither was becoming a vampire, but that's something we have to live with."
She gently pulled back to look at him. "I'm sorry," she repeated softly. "I'll try to make your stay here as pleasant as possible. Maybe you could teach us how you create those beautiful works of art? Just please...don't do anything rash. It's difficult being a vampire. I know what you're thinking; you think that life would get monotonous and not worth living." She tried rubbing away her tears, but they kept falling. "All of us know that deep inside ourselves, but we can't do anything about it. We have to bear it with a smile. Please...bear it with a smile? Until we have avenged your parents...please bear it with a smile..." Ariai started sobbing quietly onto Adrien's shoulder. The sudden talk about the worth of her own life had gotten her emotional.
I'm so worthless...

Adrien had good reason to be confused; now he was comforting the vampiress. Still being but a young boy, he was unsure about what he should do. In the end, however, he wrapped his arms around her in a comforting embrace, and began to sing her a song his mother used to sing him when he was a little boy, still afraid of the shadows in the darkness.
Hush, child, don't fear to close your eyes,
The sun will surely rise,
When you wake, and I see you smile.
Hush, child, the darkness soon will fade,
And breakfast will be made;
We'll be in each other's sweet company...again...
