[*sniffle* lol]
"A load of ruddy questions." One of the nights answered with distaste. "Getting through the gates is a nightmare, but once you're in you're right as rain."
"They like to keep close tabs of who goes in and out of the city." Balthazar expanded, "It's only common sense. Since the elves and dwarves can be prone to arguments, and since neither race 100% trust humans it makes it easier to keep tabs on any disputes, escapes form crime, or just who's where. Plus it keeps out any races they don't want - like the drow or goblins. You'll have to have a quick inspection as you enter and as you leave - just a few questions of your identity and purpose they note down, and a quick look over your weapons."
Felix looked back from his horse, who he still leant on, and cocked an eyebrow. "That's pretty thorough."
"They've had trouble in teh past." Balthazar shrugged. "Makes sense, but it's a bit of a nightmare for newcomers. We've been this way a couple of times before, so we'll be on file."

"But not me and Felix," Vence said with a nod. "We'll juust have to make the best of it, then. What am I to do with Serol? I'm sure I've read that dwarves aren't too keen with dragons, and Elves have some respect, but that makes no difference when you're in a town full of both races plus humans."

"We're lucky we're near mountains." Felix commented, nodding towards Serol. "If it was me, I'd suggest that he stays in the mountain cover. He can cloak himself of course, but if that's draining for him the landscape should keep him relatievly covered and even if people see him it's such rugged terrain that they'll probably not be able to go after him, or have any desire to."
Balthazar raised his eyebrows and nodded. "He has a point. Better to keep him outside the city."
Felix folded his arms and looked out to the city. The idea of being searchd unnerved him a little. "How..through is this search?"
Sebastian shrugged. "Like Baltahzar says - a check over, note down a few things. not too bad."
"They...won't want to know where I come from? I mean, I technically still belong to the drow." He worried about the brand on his shoulder - it was the family crest fo his owners and would immediately and eaisly tell people who owned him.
"Even if they found that out and started asking questions, they're elves and dwarves. If anything they'll give you brownie points for pissing off the drow." Sebastian laughed, clapping a hand on his shoulder. "loosen up, ok?"

"Sebastian has a point there," Vence said, chuckling. "I don't think any race is particularly keen to the Drow, so we should be fine there. And as long as I can be mentally in touch with Serol, I'm good with the mountain idea."

"Well only you know if you'll be able to keep the link up." Baltahzar said, nodding.
Felix smiled, a little relived by that, but still relatively nervous.

"Naturally" was Vence's only reply, before taking a bite of his sandwich. "So we'll head out soon?"

"mmhmm" Sebatsian nodded, having taken a huge bite out of a breadroll he was carrying. he mae a small sound of happiness at the taste. When he swallowed he nodded towards the city. "If you go on ahead of us, where shall we meet back up? The places nearest the gate are the goods shop, the opening square or the Golden coin pub."

"Wherever the cheapest beds are, I assume. Hopefully that's where you mentioned. I don't mind going on ahead though. See you all later, unless anyone else is coming."
Vence walked over to Serol and grabbed his stuff, explaining in elvish the situation. It was only a few seconds laer when he was done, and ready to head out.

"The Golden coin's got relatievly cheap beds. In fact rumor has it the only cheaper beds are in the local whorehouse, but you'll have to buy significently more then just beds if you want them." Baltahzar smirked. "Not a place for young gents like yourself, or knights."
Felix eyed the town, still nervous, but eager to get away from the looming mountains and face is potential fear.
"Vence, if you don't mind can i come along too?"
Sebastian raised his eyebrows. "That might be a good idea actually, since your two's registration'll take longer. you sure you won't have trouble, sinc eyou're newbies?"
"It's an adventure." Felix shrugged, and looked up for permission form Vence and Serol.

"I definitely wouldn't want to go there," Vence said. The thought of such a thing existing disgusted him, really. How and why people could be so, well, evil was beyond him.
"Not a problem for me," Vence replied at Felix' request, "and I like your way of thinking. An adventure of a sorts, though not the exciting kind."

Felix smiled. "Any adventur eis a good adventure. In fact, often the less exciting the better - that is, if you class as getting beaten up by Gnoll exciting." He stepped towrads Serol and rested a hand on the beast's back, waiting for him to give consent for him to climb aboard. He had nothing but deep respect for dragons and their counterparts, and so while it was perhaps a little formal considering he had known serol sinc ehe was a baby, he felt it necessary.

[Man, have I been gone for a while or what? eek I am soo sorry, I've been keeping up with life for once. Midterms are going on, I've been going places, I got a ew girlfriend...I hit the jackpot of life, I guess. whee
Now, where were we? -ahem-]
Serol twisted his head over to look at Felix, His head tilted slightly in puzzlement.
[Elven translator not working! eek ] He want's to ride you, Serol, I would suggest you allow it. If we both ride, we'll get there faster, and you can hide. Vence said.
Serol blinked, then nodded, both in understanding and consent. Vence hopped on, extending a hand to Felix.

Felix grinned at being able to ride Serol and accepted Vences hand to help him up. "wow...I mean.." he looked a little embarassed that he was so impressed and rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah. Thanks serol."

Vence chuckled, and a low rumble from Serol signified him joining in.
"No need to be so poite, Felix. Just don't do anything stupid while on Serol's back; He'll throw both of us off if you do.
"Well, we'll see you guys later. The Golden Coin, was it? I'll see if I can rent some rooms for us, I got a bit of money saved up."

Felix smiled and nodded. "yeah ok." He gripped onto one of serol's spines and hoped he didn't plummet to his death halfway in the air.
The knights waved farewell and called that the'd see them soon.
