Artes listened to the thorough explenation calmly and tied the bag around his waist. He nodded when Zeal referred to his archery necessaties and believed that he knew best, not to mention he agreed wholeheartedly.

He stood up and followed Zeal outside. "Thank you, Mr. Zeal, for this oppertunity. I do need to replace some things."

Kreen's eyebrows rise as he finishes packing away some of the smaller pieces of fruit in a magically cushioned bag designed specifically for that purpose and rises to follow Zeal.
"Tell me, what is this third area? I know well many of the lands inhabited by humans and know that Elves could never do us harm, nor would the Fae unless we invaded their lands. What is this third region which poses so great a threat?"

As Rath was eating, Zeal entered their little room. Rath put his third peach down on the table and turned to the entrance. He waited and watched as he spoke to each one of them. Myops they were going to. He picked up the pouch and tossed it on his bed.

When Zeal talked to him, he was appauled at his own rudeness. He never thought that it would come up. He picked up the pouch again and walked silently outside. Hmm...introduction...Where to start? and When for that matter? Rath questioned how he should approach Zeal.

When he heard Kreen ask the question, he decided to listen intently for the answer.

((Im not gonna be here for awhile, so would it be okay if my friend, Mistress Fox, filled in for me? Shes rather good! wink ))

((That's fine Rath. If she has your permission then she can act as your substitute. She will be expected to understand the world and your character as well as you do. If she doesn't then I will explain things to her. smile By the way, IC it is in the evening and the trip to Myops will be in the morning. That is in reference to what was said earlier, before Zeal went in to talk with the dragons privately. Your characters should know this but following him in order to ask a question or something is viable.))

Zeal motioned for them to remain where they were and listened to their words. His expression was serious but his posture did shift toward a more relaxed state. He turned to address Artes first.

"You are welcome, Artes. I am well aware of your desire to improve your abilities and I know that the bow you have now is not suitable for the training that you want to undertake." Zeal turned to face Kreen. "As for the region, it is called The Pot Thief Mountains. It lies just to the south of your homeland although the name was given by a human explorer. It is dangerous because of two particular species of monster that live there. I will explain more tomorrow. Eat well, get some rest tonight and eat a good breakfast as well. You'll need it." He walked forward and grabbed a piece of fruit before turning to go. "I need to get some rest of my own. I'll come back in the morning." He took a bite of the fruit in his hand and paused for a moment before walking out. "Very good. Very good indeed."

His walk back to the ledge was uneventful and he paused too look out over the Silver Sea as is shimmered in the light of the few stars that had managed to appear this early in the night. His awareness was with Valden more than the view and he smiled as he turned to go into the main lair. His steps echoed softly down the passage as he went and he bowed once to Mirage, asleep though she was, before crossing to his own chamber and resting against the wall to finish his fruit. Things are progressing... It shouldn't be all that long now either.

Valden hunted. His prey ran but not fast enough. He was calm and felt no elation or bloodlust as he swiftly killed his first prey and began to eat. His jaws and fangs were most effective and he finished rapidly. He felt greater pleasure in Zeal. You are growing into a leader already. I am impressed. He once again lunged into the air in search of prey.

Artes bowed politely with a thank you and sat down outside the cave entrance to the side of the path. He began to medetate and concentrate on different spells and how to make them better. He could recall many, but fewer could he recall completely. He would have to buy some elven spell books if he wanted to be as skillfull as would be needed.

((Hello people! biggrin Im Mistress Fox!))

As Rath walked outside, he realized that they were leaving in the morning. And he saw Zeals motion and turned around. He paced back into the room and took a seat on his bed. He listened and watched Zeal as he was talking. Pot Thief Mountains...sounds exciting! When the other human was done talking, Rath suddenly felt tired and as he took a carrot from the table, he layed down, gnawing on the orange vegetable. He stared at the cave ceiling. Wow...I cant wait for tomorrow, the adventure will begin... Rath pondered what he needed in silence, moving his lips, taliking to himself.
The human slowly closed his eyes as he heard Zeal's footsteps walking into the distance. Soon enough, he was fast asleep, with a huge grin on his face.

((Welcome, outlander, to our glorious hovel!))

"So be it..." Kreen murmurs, more to himself than to anyone else. He sits on his bed, silently eating a pear as he considers. Today he babysat the elf, tomorrow the newcomer. Next it'll be a dragon or something! Oh, wait...
His equipment. It will still be in the same place, both stashes, so he will go to the one in the forest to retrieve normal clothing. It is not uncommon for people in Myops to carry weaponry of their own, as it is a trade-hub and all caravans require some kind of protection. Concealing his equipment will not be a problem. While there, he will have to find some way of getting all of his equipment out of the city. That will be a problem.
Considering these and other possibilities, the assassin slowly falls to sleep, always sitting up, as if he is constantly expecting an attack in the night...

After about an hour and a half of medetation, Artes decided to sleep as well. He would have to aquire something to make his bed more comefortable. Maybe if he could find a soft enchantment, how interesting that would be. He dreamt of more comefortable accomodations as his eyes became heavy and he fell asleep.

Zeal smiled in the darkness and reduced the core of the fruit to dust in a faint flash of light. Even after we have been together for so long, I still have difficulty understanding how you can do that without really feeling anything. I guess that's what comes with being a dragon. He leaned his head back against the wall and closed his eyes. I wish I could see through your eyes, my friend. His mind focused on Valden as the dragon finished his second meal.

Valden used his tongue to clean the flecks of blood from his face and claws, chuckling at Zeal. Indeed. Even though I sense the dark thirst for destruction that slumbers within you, even though I have felt you control and channel it in the midst of battle. I still do not understand it completely. It is foreign to me and yet it is now part of me, as you are. He raised his head toward the stars. You are tired Zeal. That fruit is only thing that you have eaten in three days. I know that you have no real lust for food but you must eat in the morning and you must sleep now. Valden smiled and raised himself into the sky. I will rest along with you for the morrow. He turned toward the lair as he felt Zeal accept and drift into sleep.

Many hours later, Artes sat up in an instant, his body sweating and his breath rapid. He looked around, frightened for his life, but found that he was still in the cave. He stepped outside, the wind nipping at his bare face as he watched the moon begin to wain for morning, though the sun had yet to awaken.

He sighed softly and sat there watching the see. For how long he did not know, but he thought of many different things and he could not fathom what might come this day for him. What would lie ahead? What stood before him? These were mysteries as deep as the question of 'Why?' He had no answer, but sat and awaited for it to come.

Rath noticed Artes wake up with a start. He was standing at the foot of his bed. "So. You have those questions too huh?" Rath walked toward Artes and, not being able to sleep, decided to talk to the elf. Rath noticed the beauty of the metallic mercurial waters below him. He went to sit down by Artes. Looking up into the serene sky, then dropping his gaze into the deep Silver Sea. After a long pause, Rath said, not looking to his side, "Its scary. And strange. This feeling. Isnt it?"
PostPosted: Sun Oct 16, 2005 12:20 pm

"Yes. It's so beautiful, nature is. It almost makes you feel out of place. Sometimes I fear that concious beings were not meant to be. I mean, look at a cat. A cat may attack a mouse with no remorse. There is no spite, just instinct. If the mouse had a family, they most likely will not be able to even concieve that he was eaten by a cat. There is no hatred, only nature. Animals cannot hate one another, that is strictly an emotion of concious 'intelligent' beings. I wonder if the creatures that destroyed my village, if they feel pain or remorse for what they did, or if it is simpley instinct for them." The elf seemed to shift uncomefortably, hugging his legs together and resting his chin on his knees. "Lord Zeal has been so kind to me, Lord Valden and Lady Mirage as well. Zeal saved me from those dark creatures... symply out of the goodness of his heart. I suppose that is another things that animals do not have... care, kindness, and love. How strange nature is... all in its infinate wisdom."

Rath paused, nodding as he listened to the deep thoughts that went inside Artes' mind. Yes, it was all instinct when they attacked his village. Probably because of their thirst for food., he thought, not wanting to get too personal with the elf. When Artes had spoken his last sentence, Rath had disagreed. "There, you are wrong my friend. Care and hospitality is in everyone. For example, back to the mouse. Its family. The mother cares for her young until they are old enough to be on their own. As is the way with most creatures. Is that not care? You are right that most animals do things out of instinct. Look at reproduction: It is not eroticism, it is all about keeping your species alive. Its nature, very strange it is..." Rath trailed off and he suddenly felt tired.

((I'm glad that you guys are on a role but please don't shift the timeline any further forward until Kreen has a chance to react. Just don't mention the time of day until he posts next. I don't want to leave anyone behind. smile ))

((Duely Noted.))

"Yes." For once, Artes found himself genuinly happy and enjoying himself. Since his village had been destroyed, he had always been depressed or feeling unworthy or insignificant, but he now was glad that he had friends. "I wonder... do animals dream? Or is their sleep a dimple black abyss of unconciousness? A dog may flinch while asleep, but who is to say he is actualy dreaming?"
