"That sounds perfect. Any certain kind you would prefer?" the fox questioned, giving Hiei the opportunity to choose. In the mind frame he was in now, he probably wouldn't bother to say which type he wanted, since he might see it as being too picky, ungrateful, or something like that.

"Normally, there wouldn't be a reason to even bake" answered the fox, "Though I do think a chocolate cake sounds rather nice."

At that, the boy simply started off to the kitchen, which was actually only a room away, and motioned for the other boy to follow. He dug through a drawer until he found an old recipe book, then went through that to find the recipe he had been looking for. Kurama set the book down on the counter, then gathered the items they would need.
Once he was finished setting things up, he began the task of showing Hiei how to actually bake something. Usually they didn't get far, since the other gave up or decided it was stupid most of the time. "I would like you to look over the recipe first, just so you get a feel for it. Then we may begin."
((I have no recipe in mind, honestly, and don't know how to bake things from scratch. Just warning you in advance.))

(I know how to do cookies but everything else is pretty much a blur to me, so we're in the same boat.) Hiei nodded looking at the book, he looked it over. He stayed like that for a while, before moving to take the measuring cups from the other.

Kurama handed the dry ingredients to the other boy so he could sift them before he added the butter and such. Basically, he would let the other cook, but give him helpful tips. He had been shown how to cook many times before, after all.

It wasn't too long before Hiei had made a mess of everything, except, surprisingly the cake batter, which looked the way it was pictured in the cook book.... But himself, the spare cloths from Kurama (for he refused to get his new kimono dirty) and the counters as well as floors were covered in various ingredients. He had some cocoa even stuck to his nose...

Kurama, even though also covered in those various cake ingredients, couldn't help but to chuckle a bit. The boy looked so silly like that, and as for himself, well, he was glad he didn't have a mirror.
"Well, you did good with the cake mix," he commented, only smiling by now. "All you have left is baking the cake and frosting it."
"And if you continue like this, you'll burn down the house, but the cake will come out perfect," the fox teased.

"I'm sorry I made a mess... But, how was I supposed to know that the highest setting on the mixer wasn't what the book meant? And that the flour would burst open when I tried to open it?" He wondered. "Maybe you should set the stove and timer though... Just in case."

"You don't need to be sorry about the mess, as long as you help me fix it," said the emerald-eyed beauty. The mess hardly mattered to him, anyway. It wouldn't take too long to clean up.
He then went on to do as the other suggested, not saying a word about that.

Hiei nodded, moving past a window as he went to retrieve the cleaning supplies. Where something just barely was seen out of the corner of his eye. "Kurama.... There's something outside... I- I think." He stated, seeming unsettled.

When the fox looked outside, but saw nothing out of the ordinary, he asked, "Well, do you think it could have been just a squirrel?"
Of course, he was only trying to calm him. He wasn't sure himself what it had been, and there was a possibility that it was a demon masking his or her energy. So odd that this was his idea of 'normal'.
