Aяια∂ηє Gαмвιησ ..Yєαя Fσυя.. Lυcιαη xxxxx♔ нoυѕe rep || мαɢe ♔ ▇▇ ▇ ♡ ▇ ▇▇ ..♔♔♚♔.. As Casimir went down out of exhaustion and Naomi became fried fish, Ari realized that she was the only person left standing who could provide any semblance of a fight against Vivian.
Her automatic reaction was to go to make sure Naomi hadn't actually died. As her turtle disappeared, she was tempted to go do that. However, Ariadne was more than aware that she was literally the only thing standing between Vivian and a trio of ridiculously defenseless kids. She didn't move. Ariadne wasn't sure if it was over just yet.
As Vivian began to glow black, she clicked her tongue.
"Funny that," Ari commented in response to Vivian, her hand tightening over her channeler. "I was just thinking that I was ******** sick of playing around myself."
Vaguely, Ari recognized that what she was about to do was something horrible. She also recognized that Vivian had caused more damage to Merlin and it's students than anyone else Ari could remember during her four years attending.
There really was no other choice. There was no way in hell they were going to be able to survive whatever Vivian was planning to do otherwise. Like anyone could run away in the state that they were. Let's let her have a taste of what it's like to have your magic thrown back at you, too.
"I didn't want to have to cast this." Ari muttered, her channeler glowing. A sphere of influence materialized around Vivian.
There was only one rule set into place: no taint allowed. _

Averill Hammershod So people listened, sortof. Shanta seemed to decide something, and Shashi came roaring around, knocking over Ari, who yelled at Cas and then dashed off too. "Shashi won't move? Okay." There wasn't very much time to ask why, and he headed off back accross the clearing to Muna instead. If the transport wouldn't come to Muna, Muna would be going to the ride. Over his shoulder he saw a crackling orange ball bounce around, heard the crumple-crack of metal on trees and roar as a rush of water emerged from the earth carrying someone. "Good." He breathed to himself. Something like that bought a bit more time. Wait- was that Naomis voice? He did a double take just as a laser beam erupted from Cas and hit the wall of water, then looked away, furiously blinking away the spots in his eyes. Pick up the injured, avoid Vivian, get them to safety was pretty much all he was thinking. Everyone was for a few seconds, and all he could hear was his heartbeat and his feet hitting the ground. That wasn't good. He tapped a silence to his chest, and the noise he was making disappeared. Now hearing everyone else was easier, but it was eerie. He shot a glance over again, then Vivians voice rung out again in the relative silence. He'd reached Muna now, who seemed to be trying to get up. "Yeah, I thought she was my friend too, man." He stated gruffly, forgetting he had a silence on and trying to scoop up Muna as gently as possible. The boy was quite easy for him to carry, but being gentle was a little more difficult. He fought the urge to cast mend on the wound, or lock on the bloodflow, because he really wasn't good with human body systems and had no idea what was going on except BLEEDING EVERYWHERE Basically the plan was to run back to the carpet, drop off Muna, let End make his own damn way there, then find some way to check on Naomi and Ian.

Casimir JauniusCas gasped, gulping in air as the last remnants of energy left her body. Her body racked with fatigue and still felt as if it were on fire. Lightning flowers had bloomed down her arms and across the skin of her chest, even reaching up to her face, streaks ending at her eyes. She had heard screaming, whether it was from Naomi or Vivian she never found out, vision starting to blur and fade into blackness as it rested on the two motionless figures on the ground. Did it work? Are they....? No. Vivian stirred, sputtering back onto her feet and Cas felt something cold freeze itself inside her. It hadn't worked, Vivian was still alive and Naomi's current state was still vague. Ari and the underclassmen were fine thank god. But now they were disorientated and left facing Vivian who had begun to glow ominously black. " No..." Cas whispered and tried to take a step forward but her legs collapsed under their own weight and she took a fall to the earth with a thump. As consciousness slowly slipped from her body, she could only think about how her gamble had failed and sacrificed two if not three of the only people capable of standing up to Vivian.

As Socket flew past Ian, his stomach dropped. The crunch of metal colliding with tree just seemed too... unreal. This wasn't possible. This wasn't happening.
No. No, no, no, no, no no no no "no no no no--" Ian moved in the direction Socket had crashed, but Icarus's hand stopped him. He shouldn't be going, he knew he shouldn't, but he didn't care. Socket, his pet project, the only thing he'd poured genuine effort into for years, had been reduced to nothing but scrap metal in mere seconds. At the very least he had to gather the pieces, maybe he could--
Ian's train of thought was interrupted by the world going white. He yelped and covered his face with his arm, trying to minimize any ocular damage. When the light faded, he faintly registered Naomi laying knocked out nearby and Vivian laying blackened a little ways away.
None of it mattered. Nothing that was going on mattered. He had to get to Socket, he had to move. As Vivian began to stir, Ian realized that he wasn't going to have another chance where she was this distracted. He tore away from Icarus and Yvonne with more than a little effort and started making his way to where he thought Socket had landed.
No, no, no, please, no. ════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

The first thing Shanta noticed was a blur of brown flying directly at her face. She reached out her arm and grabbed the feather out of the air before it flew past her, releasing a burst of magic into her palm. Her wings started forming, but slowly. s**t was going down, and it was going down quickly. Screw her injures, Muna and End were on the other side of the clearing.
Something metallic crashed, and the next moment Naomi burst out of the ground like some fishy a*****e. And then... Shanta's eyes wided. Cas wasn't... she was. Shanta was wise enough to plasma to cover her eyes just before the flash, but the entire clearing was still tinged white as she lifted her head.
Vivian was lying in a heap in the clearing, but Shanta didn't have time to worry about her now. Her wings fully formed, the elf fluttered off of Shashi. Now that she had mobility, maybe the carpet would listen to her instead of overriding her orders. She quietly repeated the orders to go pick up Muna and End, and this time Shashi listened, skirting around the clearing and coasting to a stop next to Averill, hovering, awaiting like a trolley. The message was probably clear: get on the carpet. (In case it wasn't, Shashi gently nudged End in the side.)
Shanta spared a glance towards the clearing and realized what Ari was doing in an instant. It was cruel, but... Shanta swallowed. What had to be done, had to be done.
Still, she couldn't help but think Poor Vivian.

Vɪᴠɪᴀɴ
Somewhere deep in her mostly-tainted heart, Vivian knew that this was the last time she was ever going to cast this, so she sure as hell was going to make it a good one. Taint, she knew, was fueled by negative emotions, so she channeled every negative thought and all the pain she'd felt for months, for months with nobody helping her, with nobody even trying to, with people making it worse and worse and WORSE until she couldn't stand it anymore.
She channeled all her hatred for Ezrael, for Lara, for everyone who dared keep her alive for their own benefit, their own guilt. She channeled all her fury at the people alienated her, like Aerykah, people who lied to her, like End, people who betrayed her, like Muna. She channeled all her anger towards the people that attacked her, that made out to be a terrible person. Couldn't they see how much she'd been suffering!? Couldn't they see how much pain she was in!? Couldn't they see she just wanted to get out of the hell she'd been dragged into!?
Oh, it would be so easy, so easy now, to release everything, everything all at once, and unleash the biggest destruction Vivian could ever cause. She wasn't stupid; she could see the sphere of influence glittering around her, but she didn't care. She didn't <********> care. After all, what else could her greatest destruction possibly be, but the destruction of herself?
With this, Vivian knew, she'd be free. She'd be free of the pain and mental torture that she'd been through for months, for months and months and months and she could finally die and be in peace and --
...and...
...she'd be alone.
...that was the heart of the matter, wasn't it? She'd be all alone. She would be taking care of everyone's problems. She wouldn't be able to hurt anyone anymore, because she'd be dead. She wouldn't be able to talk with End or Muna or Shanta or Nina or anyone ever again. She'd be dead and very, very alone.
And that was the thing. Tomas, even Tomas broken beyond repair, did not want to be alone.
It was this thought that broke Vivian's concentration.
And it was this thought that let a spark of sanity resurface.
Vivian looked up through the sphere, and her eyes, dull and dark before, were bright and alive. And Vivian did not look angry, and she did not look malicious. She did not look malevolent, antagonistic, ruthless, or cruel.
Vivian Summers looked scared.
I don't want this. I never wanted this. I have to stop. I have to --
But whatever Vivian wanted to stop, it was too late. The lapse in her concentration release all that power she'd been building up, and Vivian's terrified gaze disappeared behind a thick smog of taint. Naturally, with nowhere to escape, it rushed back inwards towards its vessel, dyeing Vivian's skin, if possible, even darker.
When the smoke finally cleared, Vivian dropped like a marionette cut from its string, staring up at the sky, chest trembling with uneven breathing that would never force enough air into her lungs again.
She was alive, but for how long?

The first year barely gave a soft grunt as his friend picked him up, a stab of pain making Muna press the cloth of his shirt harder against the wound in vain. He felt faint, and for a moment it looked like Averill said something to him, but for some reason Muna couldn't hear what it was.
He muttered a hoarse 'thanks' to the Ekat anyways, trying to see past Averill's body to where Vivian still was.
As the sphere of influence filled up with black, Muna jerked. He tried to tell Averill to turn them back around so he could see her, but all that came out of his throat was a raspy cough. His throat was beginning to feel beyond uncomfortable. Muna was pretty sure he was about to lose his voice.
He gave a soft exhale as he was placed on the carpet. He dug his fingers into the carpet, still trembling. "...Shashi," Muna wheezed out. "...anna see....'vian--" His throat caught for a moment and Muna swallowed back on nothing, wincing.
He really was a mess. Muna was pretty sure he was covered in blood now. It probably isn't a good look for me. Ha-ha.
As the carpet made a stop near Vivian, Muna tried to slip off the carpet legs first. It worked, sort of--his feet hit the ground, but his knees gave out immediately. Collapsing into a sitting position, Muna pressed his palms against the earth so he wouldn't go down any farther. It was getting hard to breathe.
For a moment, he just stared at her. Then his eyes watered up.
"Vi..vian."

xxǀcαяυѕ Ɗσмιтσя ♕ 2ηɗ ♕ Tσмαѕ __ It was like watching a car crash -- Icarus couldn't take his eyes off of it. Except instead of a car it was a girl he didn't even know. His attention ripped off Vivian for only a second, shifting to Ian in alarm when he felt the boy break away from him and Yvonne."Ian, we--"
Icarus turned his head back to Vivian in alarm. It would be bad to get distracted--
Vivian's expression sent a chill running down his spine.
Then it was nothing but black, contained in the shimmering sphere trapping her. As Vivian reappeared in sight, still breathing, Icarus stood frozen.
Then he took a step back, and turned to where Ian had gone. He turned away from Vivian and followed his friend. "Ian, listen, man--we--just--" He couldn't think. Icarus couldn't even formulate a sentence anymore. He stopped talking for a moment to suck in a shaky, shuddery breath.
"...You can rebuild, okay? It's possible if it's you. So just...just grab Socket's parts and--and come on."
I can't stand being here any longer, Icarus thought. >

Ari's didn't.
Sorry, Summers. Ari thought, strengthening the sphere with all that she could as it filled up with black. The fourth year couldn't afford to see anyone else get injured. Everything had gone much, much farther than it should have. Ari was determined to see through that the string of violence would end with her last move.
As the black was sucked into Vivian's body, the shimmer of the sphere of influence slowly faded out. Ariadne wobbled, magic reserves effectively strained. She eyed Vivian's body for a moment, but couldn't find anything to say to the girl. There was nothing Ariadne could say. She had spent half a year eagerly waiting to see Vivian's downfall and the latter half trying to pretend that it wouldn't happen.
Well, now it had. Ariadne couldn't do anything about it, and she accepted that.
So she turned around and went to do something more important to her. She went to go see if Naomi was alive.
Using the last vestiges of her strength, Ariadne pocketed her eyeliner and went to the gaping hole in the ground. She collapsed next to the body near it, giving a shaky exhale. Her magic reserves were a little more than spent.
"You better be ******** alive, Nao. Or I'll beat the s**t out of your dead body, I swear to Merlin's old wrinkly ******** tree a**." Ari muttered, pressing her index and middle finger underneath Naomi's pulse point._

Yvonne glanced to Vivian again. Couldn't believe that she recognized the look in her eyes. Then again, Vivian wasn't completely deluded in seeing their similarities. A Tomas was a Tomas. Vivian was a Tomas. Vivian is a Tomas, she thought briefly. She didn't want to be alone. It broke her.
Wondering if the same thing applied to Ekaterinas, she followed after Ian and Icarus.
She stopped for a moment before them. What do they need right now? I can't bring back Socket and I can't erase the events of today.
"Let me help you with that," Yvonne said, bending down to pick up what was left of Socket. She gathered what she could and clumsily held it out to Ian. "Sorry. I- I don't know what you need to hear right now. If you need to hear anything. We can talk about this later if you want. Today has been a lot."
A lot of what, she wasn't sure. "But Icarus is right. You can do anything. And time is the best doctor, remember?... Are you ok? To stand, I mean."
Yvonne dashed a hand across her cheeks and offered the other to Ian.

After a long moment, Naomi groaned softly as her pulse quickened under Ari's fingertips. "My dead body's already gotten... ow ********... the s**t beaten out of it, but... thanks for the offer." Her entire body ******** hurt. Damn Cas for going overboard with that attack.
Well, she wasn't dead, so that was the good news so far. Naomi forced her eyes open and lifted her body up a few inches to survey the scene. She didn't see anyone dead, though she certainly wouldn't have approved of Muna being so close to the collapsed black figure she assumed was Vivian. Then again, whatever had happened while she was out, it seemed that Vivian was down once and for all, so maybe it was safe than she thought.
Kind of pitiful, though, that she'd fallen so hard. But most everyone else was alive, including Naomi's housemates, and that was all that Naomi really cared about. They could pick up the Pact members that had been caught by the forest, the Headmaster would come back and it would all be back to normal. In Naomi's opinion, that made the mission a success.
She didn't feel successful, though. She felt tired and drained and failed and she hurt all over. "Man," Naomi murmured, spitting a strand of wet hair out of her mouth, "winning is really overrated."
After another moment of silence: "Is your phone working? I think mine got... ow... shorted out and I think... ********... it'd be a good idea to... call Mom." The more healers in this situation, the better. Naomi wouldn't be surprised if some of them ended up staying the night in the nurse's office.

Ian reached where Socket had fallen and his first thought was, I'm going to be sick.
Socket, precious Socket, the robot he'd poured four years worth of blood, sweat, and tears into, wasn't even in a recognizable state anymore. Bits of scrap metal, nuts, bolts, wires, everything that made Socket... Socket... lay scattered around the general area. The mirrorstone that made up nearly half the components, and completed the magical circuit? Shattered. Ian could see the pieces embedded in the trunk of the tree. The propeller? Completely bent out of shape, and one of the fan blades had snapped off and was stuck so far into the tree Ian doubted he would ever be able to get it out. And so many of the components inside, that Ian had delicately Shrunk down so they would fit, had spent countless hours tweaking the inside of the robot so they would all fit snugly, those were beyond help.
In short, it was the worst repair job Ian had ever seen. He stared at the pile, expressionless, feeling numb. This wasn't real. This... this couldn't be real. This was the worst nightmare of Ian's life, and he had never wanted to wake up so badly. He had to - he had to pinch himself awake. Or maybe...
One of Ian's hands drifted to his opposite forearm before he realized what he was doing, and quickly shoved his hands in his pocket. Stop, he told himself firmly. Not... not here. Now now. Later, maybe, but not now.
Ian took a deep breath and set himself to the task of gathering what Yvonne missed, and there was a lot of it. She'd gathered the larger chunks, but there were dozens of small pieces of shrapnel, screws, wires, and circuit boards that were lost in the grass. Ian set out his scarf on the ground and focused on collecting it all, adding Yvonne's things to the pile when he was done.
Despite being numb with disbelief, Ian was an efficient worker, and he found all of Socket's pieces in a surprisingly short amount of time. Carefully rolling the scarf up, Ian took the bundle in his arms, and finally spoke for the first time since coming upon the robot's scattered corpse.
"I can fix what's broken, Icarus," he murmured. "I can't fix what's destroyed."
And with that, Ian fell completely silent, completely focused on the orange bundle in his arms. ════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

Ari gave a sigh of relief at the feeling of a pulse underneath her fingers, and she shuffled away from Naomi on her knees to give the other girl a bit of space. Ari untucked her legs from underneath her and decided just to cross them so she wouldn't topple over. Ariadne wasn't interested in having her head anywhere near the ground.
"At least nobody else is dead," She responded, giving a shaky exhale. "Well, not yet." She was being more morbid than usual. Eugh. If that wasn't a sign Ari was stressed out, she didn't know what was.
Ari pulled out her phone, still in perfect condition. She stared at the black screen for a second. "If you even get reception out here." The fourth year said before passing her phone over to Naomi. Ari gave another shaky exhale, placing her hand back on the ground as soon as Naomi took the phone.
God, she was ******** exhausted. The charms teacher really had been right about Sphere of Influence taking a lot of endurance. As she stared up at the sky, Ari wondered if inducing Vivian's death was going to haunt her.
No, probably not, She decided after a moment.
Her eyes went down to survey her surroundings. Ian, Yvonne and Icarus were huddled around the remains of that weird robot. Shanta looked like s**t, End looked upset, and Muna was far too close to Vivian for Ariadne's tastes. She couldn't bring herself to tell the boy to move. She knew he wouldn't listen to her, anyways. Cas was on the ground, magic reserves completely spent. Averill looked just as upset as he had when she was speaking to him, if not even more.

He was still angry, but he had no idea why. Muna was safe, carried off to Shashi by Averill. Shanta was safe, with her wings back. End was safe, he was looking away from Cas, so the fury of the light she was producing simply caused lights to dance in his eyes for a moment. And they were being left alone, mostly.
He silently lifted himself onto Shashi, next to the still bleeding Muna, and just... stewed. He ignored his surroundings, just hoping they'd be back to the school and Shanta and Muna would be in the nurses office and this whole thing would eventually disappear. Eventually, maybe, they'd forget that he couldn't protect them like he thought he should have. Maybe they would forget, but he wouldn't.
He snapped back to reality when Muna muttered that he wanted to see 'vian'. He said nothing about it at first, he was sure Shashi wouldn't follow the orders. But then Shashi started moving in the direction of Vivian, and made a stop beside her. "Muna!" he protested as his boyfriend slid off to Vivian's side. He jumped off himself. He was prepared to grab Muna by the shoulders and lift him back onto the carpet, but couldn't bring himself to do it. Firstly because he doubted his strength, but secondly because he just couldn't use that kind of forcefulness, not against Muna, at least. He hated Muna being so close to Vivian while she was in this state, but if he even tried using that kind of force to do something that was against Muna's will, what kind of person was he, really?
So he kept an eye on the just-still-breathing Vivian, looking at her as something less than human, less than animal even. As if she were a bomb that he wasn't sure was deactivated just yet. And he knew if she was about to go off once more, he'd have to be the barrier. It's the least he could do after being so useless for the whole day.
