Not reacting at first, Spooky practically explodes when Eve connnects with the bite. Facepalming, "Of all the bloody bleedin' times to pick a fight. I had to chose the one that has bite.... TRY DOING SOME BARREL ROLLS TO SHAKE HER OFF!! AND THEN GIVE HER A LICK!!"

I'll understand later the meaning of it all Marc placed Terch in his own hands, still looking at Aradia. "I wouldn't steal him," Marc said. "Did you really think I was some kind of theif?"
His ekans slithered out of the bushes, travelling to Marc before lying on the ground. He was too lethargic to do anything; he really did find a ton of berries close to him.Of pain, and happiness, and secrets...

"Well no, but there have been quite a lot of them today, and one was a little boy, so who can say? What thief is open about his profession? In any case, I was careless with my words, and anybody could have taken that as permission to take Terch away." With that said and done with (for Aradia, at least), the girl turned her attention to the ekans without a name. "I suppose you found what you were looking for?"

I'll understand later the meaning of it all Marc shrugged, still holding on to Terch. He wouldn't have gotten any other answer anyway - as Aradia pointed out, no thief would (or at least should) be so open about their profession.
"Oh yeah," his eyes expanded, coming to a realization. "I've been hearing some rumors about people stealing Pokemon for their own motives... I wonder if they really are just rumors..."
The ekans nodded slowly, trying to show his thanks with its expressions. But it didn't really feel like moving, so it just kept lying.Of pain, and happiness, and secrets...

Aradia almost giggled at the little snake, but caught herself in time to just grin; she hated giggling. The urge was quelled swiftly enough, however, by what Marc had said, and she gave him a sharp glance. "They aren't. Prof. Oak was raided earlier today, if you need proof."

I'll understand later the meaning of it all Marc couldn't help but notice Aradia's change of expression when she saw his ekans. He was particularly lazy, and ekans always seemed to have surprised him. Not wanting to cause a riot to anyone, Marc lightly chuckled at his Pokemon before hearing Aradia speak again.
He quickly became serious, a bit shocked at what he heard. He quickly calmed down though, remembering all of the apprehension he felt from all of those towns he had stopped by before coming here to get his pokedex.
"Well, that would explain all the stories I was hearing. It seemed like every town I stopped by was talking about them... though I'm not really sure who those people were... You would know, right?" He asked. If she knew about the Professor Oak incident (if it were true,) then she should have at least know something... right? He didn't mean to sound pushy, but he just guessed. Of pain, and happiness, and secrets...

Aradia became graver still. "No," she nearly growled. "They were gone before I could get it out of them. All I know is what two of them look like, and maybe one of their names, but it could easily be false." She sighed and rubbed the bridge of her nose. "I only know of this one instance. You have gone to more towns and have heard more rumors, so you probably know more on the subject than I do."

I'll understand later the meaning of it all "Great point," Marc nodded. "Maybe if I thought about it hard enough it'd come to me. Every city I've been to had been speaking about them at some point. And from Lavender Town, that would be..."
He handed Terch back to Aradia. If they were going to have any hope in stopping these people, he would definitely need a bit of time to concentrate.
His ekans got up a bit, and slowly slithered his way to Aradia. He could tell Marc was busy. Beside, he needed to show Aradia he loved her idea of eating berries... Of pain, and happiness, and secrets...

Before Aradia could set him down, Terch had scampered onto her shoulders again, and regained his position around her neck, leaving her very sullen and nervous. Though she didn't show just how nervous it made her; that would probably have made Terch feel bad. As it stands, the charmander just fell asleep.

Oh yeah, I had stopped at Viridian City for a break... "And then there was that suspicious-looking woman, all dressed in black," he muttered out loud, trying to think of what could've happened before.
He was thinking about this backwards - first at the route toward Pallet Town, where something had just happened but Marc couldn't understand what. Next was Viridian City, and then...Of pain, and happiness, and secrets...

Aradia focused on what Marc was saying immediantly, forgetting the fire by her head. "Did she have long dark hair and pale skin, bad additude?" she asked intensely.

"She is the one who raided the lab and made off with the pokeballs. And yes, I am absolutely sure of that. Rumors were there, so there was likely a theft, and I've little doubt that she wasn't mixed up in it." Aradia sighed again and, looking down, finally noticed that the ekans had come over to her. She crouched down carefully, so as not to wake Terch or burn herself on his tail, and patted the little pokemon's sleek head.
