Her gaze had dropped as he spoke these words to her "I know you aren't forcing me." She noticed then that Roland was uncomfortable. She stood, dusted herself off and then spread her fabrics over him. "Even though the ground is hard to sleep on. you might as well be warm." She smiled slightly to herself at the thought of letting him rest his head in her lap as she watched for danger, but she didn't have the courage. Besides, she didn't want to hurt anyone, so she just kept the picture in her mind as she began to put out the fire. She scooped up blackened soil with her hands, and began to smother the heat. Then her mind wondered, dwelling on whether or not taking up guns would be the answer she chose, when her answer came to her mind she spoke it outright. "I am disgraced anyways. I am tired of being scared and hiding." That's about when Jenny walked into camp and announced that she'd be staying, this caused a grin to spread across Leah's face. She continued working, glad that things seemed to be good now. Maybe they could actually set off tomorrow, her heart longed for the desert. At last only a little of the glow of the fire could be seen heating the dirt. "Get some sleep, if you want." She said to Jenny without looking at her. Leah grabbed the left over veggies and meat and loaded them into her pouch, and then sat back against her tree. She remained so still and quiet that even her breathing couldn't be heard. She slid her hand into her robes and grabbed hold of the gun, unsure of what she could accomplish with it, but willing to try none the less. The darkness was her skill, being able to hide and to move within it's depth without detection. This was only part of the service she could give to her companions. She let her mind wonder occassionally, but mostly she kept her eyes moving and her ears listening.

Roland nodded his head and dozed off. His dreams were haunted by the pictures of his dead friends and family but through them all he could see the Tower. Always the damned tower. His sleep would always be filled with these visions of his friends and Walter O' Dim, the Man In Black, Marten Broadcloak, The Walking Dude, and The Good Man. There were many more of these ruses but all were the same man, the same plague, the same terror of the undying force that would forever attempt to destroy mankind as if it were the very Sin that erupted from the seams of any man, woman, or child. Aye, children were no different. They would find sexual content on what Eddie had called "Computers" and work themselves to what they fancied. Roland knew this and so did many others in the Keystone world but none would act on it. This was normal in reality but it still disgusted Roland. Nothing was pure nothing was angelic. Everything was doomed one way or another.
Roland's eyes flew open like an eagle swooping down the grap it's prey. He looked around camp and he saw nothing but he heard the distant laughter of insanity and anger. From his view he saw a shadow wraith float through the forest with a gleaming grin that struck The Gunslinger as familier. The wraith motioned Roland forward with it's index finger and dissappeard. Roland didn't bother to take his guns. It was a wraith and posed no danger. If it had it would have slain the Gunslinger in his sleep with little or no bloodshed other then Roland himself.
He approached the woods calmy but with an air of defiance. His feet made sucking noices as mud and muck attempted to cling to his already dirtied boots. His bright blue eyes shone through the blackness of the forest and stuck out. The wraith returned and it's grin was wider and more terrorfying then before and Roland regretted not bringing his guns for a moment.
As the Gunslinger closed the distance to the wraith he noticed it had a weasles face and sharpened teeth, The Man In Black. His grin widened as if he sensed Roland's knowing of his identity.
"Come Roland." He said. "Let us Palaver."
"No, fiend." Roland said. "I will not allow myself to be tricked once again."
Walter smiled and waved his hand. "Oh no Roland you misunderstand." Walter folded the sleeves of his cloak revealing pale skin. "No tricks up my sleeves as you can see."
Uneasy, Roland continued toward his age old enemy. "Fine, sorcerer." He said. "Speak you're thrice damned words."
Walters smile widened and he snapped his fingers creating a smoke cloud and bringing forth a key. "Look closely old chum." Roland squinted his eyes and saw small words he could barely make out. "There are other worlds-" Roland stopped and shivered. Jake he thought. "Damn you." Roland said clenching his fist in the process.
"But why? I give you salvation!" Walters grin remained. "Give up the Tower and I'll give you Jake." Walter screeched with laughter and the key dissipitated from view. "Give up the Tower." Were his final words before his grin faded and his body became a black mist that settled itself among the trees.
"Gods damn you." Roland muttered.
Minutes later Roland had returned from his short trek and rested himself against a tree stump, sighed, rolled a smoke, and thought of his current events.

Jenny watch as Roland left and returned. "You were talking in your sleep" Jenny said softly. She kept to the shadows as she spoke to Roland. She wore a slight smile. "I know about nightmares, they can become so real..." she said looking at her arms that where although covered by her sleeve she felt the burn of her scars. "Do you want to talk about them?" she asked moving from the shadows slightly.

Roland shook his head. "I don't talk about them." He said. "They have no meaning and aren't important." He shifted his weight away from the girl and closed his eyes. "We will get moving in an hour, when I awake we'll start packing up camp and following the road West." He took off his hat. "Now get some rest, we'll be walking for hours."
He slept.
Roland woke in an hour but his body was still tired even though his mind was fully rejuvinated. He looked around the makeshift camp and sighed. It was pathetic. As he began to pack his blanket and piss the fire out he began to wonder if the Tower was even in this world, and if not, would he have to find doors to other realms? He pulled the zipper up on his faded blue jeans and sighed. If it wasn't in this world he'd have more trouble and his companions, Jenny and Leah, would have trouble with the way of the Gun. He wiped his dirt ridden hands on his duster and woke Leah.
"Wake up, it's time we start moving out." He said in his normal gruff tone. He dropped a bag full of deer limbs and hide. "You will carry this, Jenny will carry the blankets." He said. "I'll be front guard." The Gunslinger sat on the stump once again and cleaned his guns. They'll have blood today.

Jenny sighed slightly. "I didn't sleep" she said softly. "Oh great..." she said receiving the hides. She retied them into a bundle and strapped them onto her bag. She grabbed her shovel. "Now I get to be a pack mule and protect myself!" she exclaimed falsely amused. She thought her sarcasm brightened the mood some. "You think yourself fancy with your revolvers don't you?" she asked Roland.

Roland looked up at Jenny was his gentle work of cleaning the age-old guns. "Yes, I do." He returned to his work, hands flying here and there rubbing any dirt from the gun and cleaning the barrel. He was done in seconds. As He looked down on the gleaming guns he felt a tinge of anger. These weapons that should be dripping in blood and guts was cleaned, and his hands were the ones that did it. Regardless of what he felt about them he kept the guns because they were the only things he trusted. They never falter when he needed them most and even with wet shells the gun was as good a club as any. Roland sheathed his weapons in their right holsters and began moving. He took long strides with his legs, getting farther distances with little work.
A bead of sweat dripped from his brow and he wiped it away with his leather gloved hands. "Jenny, Leah, hurry up." He said. "We need to move faster." They would get used to the travelling and won't complain long, he knew this for a fact. If Susannah, a woman in a wheelchair could keep up with him, they could too.

"I'm ready" Jenny said leaning against a tree near him. She looked at the ground. She was still thinking about her flash backs. Her memories were defiantly coming back because of Roland. She wanted to know why. She looked up at the sky smiling slightly. She closed her eyes and began to reminisce. Then the sudden realization of she couldn't hit her. She sighed and just stared at the sparse clouds in the sky. "Can we get moving already?" Jenny asked harshly. She didn't want to be here any longer. The place reeked. She almost seemed wolf like now. A low growl erupted from her.

Out of the morning mirage a figure would appear on horseback. His armor shining under the red cloak that covered almost the entirety of his large form. Bronze shining greaves would show from the open straps of the saddle, and the horse would bear no reigns. The 17 hand highland horse would make the large man on it's back seem a skyscraper to those on foot.

Evenly paced the man and beast would approch revealing the great round shield and spear at the warriors left and right, and the horses he trailed behind him.

The man would ride onto a respectful distance to Roland and the others camp, and stop with a dismount to make conversation more comfortable.

"Gunslinger! I come with gifts and aid if you will have them." The lage warrior would say with a smile in his voice."

"Aye, let's not waste too much time." Roland stepped through the brush of the forest. "This land is quite forested." He said through gritted teeth. "Don't trip over anything." Roland spotted a deer in the distance, it's neck was barely showing and it would have been an impossible shot. If that person wasn't Roland that is. He shot from his hip and the bullet plunged itself into the deers soft flesh, making it bleed and freeze from shock, Roland took this time to aim another shot and fire, this time the bullet scraped against the tree bark and embedded itself with it's skull. Roland stpped over fallen branches and underbrush to reach the deers corpse only to find it slightly mutated with a fifth leg and third eye. That didn't mean well for this land. A mutated animal could just be natural or an accident by Mother Nature, or it could mean (most likely) it came from a doorway from Rolands world and has lived here long enough to spread it's tainted seed.

"Excellent shot" Jenny said with a toothy grin. She approached the quarry with Roland. "Mutated..." Jenny said softly. She sniffed the air. She winced slightly. "It smells... different" she said softly. She turned to the new voice. He looked like a god. He smelled of war as well. Jenny restrained herself from covering her nose. She was in the midst of a powerful being, that was obvious. She stared at the man with the horse. The morning sun made him seem a lot less threatening than she thought he was supposed to look. Jenny kept staring waiting for Roland to speak.

Leah who had been trying to stay out of the way of all the packing jumped at the oppertunity to help, and so she scooped up her fabrics that were being used as blankets and looked up to meet his face with a smile. However, she turned and frowned as Roland put out the fire. She felt slightly uncomfortable, but she didn't utter a word of complaint. She wasn't quite sure if she would need the extra warmth and so Leah just threw her robes on, masking her brilliant teal layer for a darker navy one. As they began to run, Leah stayed just beside the two, yearning for a faster pace but satisfied to at least be moving. She burst, letting out a laugh that held nothing within it's notes but pure joy. What else could make her heart soar like this? Within her chest her heart picked up and pounded against her bones. She smiled so much that her cheeks began to hurt, but she didn't care. It was then that Roland shot the deer, and the suddeness of it all shocked her, and made her sober up. Her eyes fell, as they slowed to a stop in front of a group of men. Leah's hues remained trained on the ground as Jenny mentioned that he was a powerful being. "Everyone that was powerful commanded at least a few souls. Those are the rules of every world." Her eyes turned to Roland as he regarded the being. What did these rules mean about Roland?

She finally had the nerve to look up at the man from under her lashes, and almost fell to her knees. She knew exactly who this man was, she'd seen pictures, heard stories, and known of him for the longest time. "Gifts of aid? Does that mean that he will be joining us?" Leah removed her gaze from him and cast them anywhere but Ares's face, he scared every inch of her body into a tense form, her whole body rigid with nerves. She remained quiet and withdrawn, hoping that her appearence was not that of a frightened woman, but of a indifferent nobody.

"Always focused as ever." Ares would chuckle as he too a few steps forward and addressed Roland's companions. He spoke to Leah, who seemed very reverent of him. He had seen the look on slaves, and his worshipers. Ares had gotten used to not having any worshipers, and wnated no more. His domain was always going to be relevant enough. "Stop that lady, treat me as any other." He looked then to the other woman. "My name is Ares, and I am a associate of our now occupied Gunslinger." He looked the two of them over. "May I ask your names?"

Roland regarded Ares with cold indifference. A god, yes, but that hadn't stopped Roland before. He'd killed the anti-christ with his guns, myahap he could kill a mere God Of War as well. He shook those thoughts away, true as they may be. His eyes shot to Leah, her body was in a form of terror but Ares didn't seem to notice. His arms swept Leah into his grasp as if to pretect her. His other arm instinctivly shot to Jenny as well. His new Ka-mates would have to learn of this mans ability to seed hate and stupidity among the hardiest of men. "Ares, I thank thee for thy gifts but I have no need for them." He spoke in a respectful, albeit hatefull, tone. His bombardiers eyes gave nothing away as his hands slowly reached for his gun. A risk it would be to shoot at this god but mayhap Ares may take enough damage to run. Ares was a god of war, say true, but in this world he was just as mortal as anyone else. This rule applied to Roland as well as Leah and Jenny who seemed wolfish in behavior.
It took him a moment to process this fact and when he did his hands shot to his gun and pointed it at Jenny. Barrel resting against her forhead.
"Jenny, I know what thee are." He flexed his fingers with the slightest tension, pulling the trigger to near completion. "You are a Werewolf, part human part wolf." His voice was soft and tendor, his grief seeding through his voice. "I fear thee may be too far gone to be saved." His eyes shot to Ares. "Even by a foolhardy God Of War." Roland was now looking at Leah and they showed brief hesitation.
