"It gets colder," Star confirmed. She didin't like this situation. It was getting late, the Knights would surely worry if they didn't hurry back soon. But they simply couldn't ignore the wolves. "But they only attack when provoked..." Then her eyes found the smoke, and she added, "And they hate fire..."
-
Mitsuki sighed, looking outside to see the sun continue to set. Her uneasiness returned. Had she been wrong to listen to her mind? "I'm sure they'll return soon," she said, though her voice didn't sound so sure.

Sami pulled out her elbow blades and asked Star, "How many are normally in a pack?"

"Be ready for anything." The Ice Wolves may be provoked because they were entering their terrain. Holding his sword in one hand, Alexander opened his other hand. Ready to create a fireball should any Wolves jump to attack them. But there was no sign of them. maybe they were watching and waiting for the right moment to attack.--- --- --- Vincent decided not to wait any longer. "I am going to look around town. See if I can find them." It worried him, should the recruits see the injured villagers, they'd lend a help.

"I had not been told," Star admitted, shaking her head. "If they don't attack, we should probably head back." Hey, she rhymed. That was something new.
-
"I'm coming," Mitsuki said, standing up. She looked to Kade, who nodded. He'd stay behind in case the recruits returned to the inn.

Sami nodded. "I'm sure the other's noticed where gone. They might be looking for us." She shifted from foot to foot, she felt eyes on her, and they wheren't from the two she was with.

Going back wasn't what Alexander had in mind. The smoke he saw on the horizon could be a clue to the Ice Wolves behavior. "Well, if they noticed we're gone, then we might as well have something to report. Else this trip was for nothing." Alexander smiled. The Knights would still disapprove that they left without notice, but they might go easy if they found something out. Alexander slowly walked on towards the place where the smoke came from. "Are you two coming?" He asked them, not that he'd mind if they'd rather go back.--- --- --- Walking outside, Vincent believed the recruits would either be in the marketplace or near the docks. "Either they are in the marketplace buying or browsing, or they are at the docks. To check up on the ship." Looking towards the docks, Vincent would go there. "I'll ask around in the docks, there is a small chance they went there. You look around the marketplace. They'd to pass through there anyways." The sun was starting to set and some shops were closing for the day. Something must be up or the recruits would show their faces already at the inn.

Star shrugged. "I suppose," she replied, honestly really curious about the ice wolves. She stepped forward and began to follow Alexander.
-
Mitsuki had a feeling she knew what the recruits had been up to. But she thought it better to check her suspicions first. Nodding, she walked away towards the marketplace, making her way past the bustling crowds getting ready to leave for the night. Her eyes laid on one of the villagers from earlier, the woman. Would she know? Could the recruits have asked the villagers about the injuries and gone to investigate? "Excuse me," Mitsuki asked the villager in the kindest and gentlest voice she could manage, which is very uncharacteristic for someone like her. "There were three people, two females and one male, who had possibly passed through here. Did they, by any chance, ask any of the villagers about any attack or reason for the injuries? If so do you know where they went?" The villager looked like she was taking caution. "They had asked us about our injuries. We answered, and they left somewhere," she confirmed. "Might I ask your answer so I have a clue where they left?" Mitsuki asked, growing impatient already. This whole kind thing was ridiculous. "Ice wolves attacked our village," the villager replied walking away. For a moment Mitsuki stood there, processing what this could mean. Then, she left towards to docks to report.

Sami looked back towards the path they took. She wanted to continue on, but something told her that what they're doing was out of their league. She shook her head and continued to follow Star and Alexander. "I've got a bad feeling about this..." she murmured.

Heading straight for the smoke on the horizon, it seemed to get colder the further they went. The snow got worse as it seemed an ice storm was over their heads. Holding his hands up to protect his eyes, he saw a small passage between the mountains. "Look! We can pass through there! It'll protect us from the snow!" Not that they had any other choice. It was the only thing Alexander could see through th storm.--- --- --- Asking around the docks, Vincent wasn't very succesfull of getting any usefull information. None had seen any of the recruits and at first glance, Vincent didn't spot them either. He was about to return to the inn when he saw Mitsuki heading his way. "Tell me you know where they are." He sighed, hoping she'd knew.

Star nodded. She had used her water to protect her eyes, somewhat, for they were clear. The water hardened from the ice, but it only served as stronger protection. "Let's go then," she insisted, wanting to get out of the storm. Ice Wolves must have been nearby, if the snow was THIS bad.
-
"One of the villagers from before said they talked to her," Mitsuki replied as soon as she was close enough. "They had asked what had happened to the villagers, and she told them it was due to the Ice Wolves. She didn't really say where they went. The way she was responding, she probably didn't know."

Walking through the passage, Alexander took a moment to dust the snow of his clothes and hair. The passage had lead them to a small tunnel with at the end light and noise. At first, Alexander believed they were lead to the cave of the Ice Wolves, but the light convinced him of something else. "Look, light." He said to the others. As he got closer to the light, the noise could be heard more clearly. It was people talking. Crouching to avoid detection, Alexander moved closer, leaving the tunnel. The tunnel lead them to a large underground cave, where people had put up tents. It was unclear what they were doing here, but it was clear this is what dove the Ice Wolves down the mountains. The entire camp was surrounded with fire to ward of any Ice Wolf. "I think we found what we're looking for." He whispered to the others.--- --- --- Vincent took a moment to think. The recruits could have left town. If so, they'd better hurry after them, before the recruits face any Ice Wolves. "Tell Kade we're going to the mountains. I'll see if any guards at the gates saw them." With that, Vincent hurried to the gate. There were to guards standing duty. Now to hope those guards were the same of the day shift.

Sami had lit a small flame in front of her to melt the snow before it fell into her eyes. She followed the others into the cave. She watched the camp and scracthed her head. "We have...But what's going on? What do those people want in this cavern?"

Looking up ahead, it seemed there were several tunnels. From time to time, people came out pushing a cart with crystals. It were cyan crystals that produced white smoke that fell down. Like cold air. The cars were emptied in a larger carriage. The people working had red hands and were chivering. It seemed these crystals were like chunks of ice. What was clear is that these people weren't working out of free will. They were forced into slavery. "I'm not sure what's going on, but if slavery is involved it's most likely a dirty bussiness." Alexander whispered, "We have to get those people out of there." the only question was how.--- --- --- Meanwhile Vincent had talked to the guards. They have seen a group fitting the descryption of the recruits leaving Samund. It seemed they were heading towards a village. Vincent feared it was one of the attacked villages and the recruits may have gotten involved into something.

Star bit her lip, observing the possible slaves for a moment. "...Suppose someone is around watching them?" she wondered quietly.
-
Mitsuki nodded and did as she was told. Reaching the tavern she sat next to Kade and muttered to him everything they had gathered. "I'm headed toward the mountains with Vincent," she told him. "Stay here in case a miracle somehow happens and they return." With that, Mitsuki dashed off to catch up to Vincent at the gates.

Alexander was looking around and saw some slavers watch over the slaves. It would be hard to take those down without getting seen. But the answer presented itself. "Alright, put the workers back in their cells!" The leader of the slavers ordered. This man was better equiped with armor and decent weapons. Heavy armor and two axes on his back. No doubt he was leading this operation. "I think they're calling it a day. We'll strike at them when they're all asleep." Alexander suggested, forgetting they should be back at the inn by now.--- --- --- When Mitsuki arrived, Vincent nodded. "The guards saw them heading towards one of the attacked villages." He said as they hurried to that town, "Most likely they went to investigate." And Vincent hoped they only did that.
It wasn't long as they found the attacked town. Due to the snow, any footprints were gone. "I can't tell if they were here, but this is the closest town that was under attack. They should be here." Vincent said as he looked around, "Or were here." The last would mean they were somewhere else and left no clue as were to.
