Welcome to The Rainbow Connection. We have grown and become more than just the Gay-Straight Alliance that was our roots. What we are is a group of individuals, drawn together for different reasons to fight for similar causes.

We are a guild for straights, gays, everyone in between, as well as transgenders, cisgendered (non-transgendered) and those that do not fall into the gender binary system. We are not a bunch of bullies here to take your lunch money. We are not an online gang. We are not internet tough guys. We are all people.

We do not have a preferred religion for membership. We have Satanists, atheists, Etherists, Christians and agnostics, just to name a few of the religions, belief structures and knowledge claims represented by our guild members. We are neither for nor against religion.

We have members from Canada, the US and Britain, to name a few of the countries we represent.

We have differing opinions in many ways, but we have a core set of beliefs that has tied us together, and this is the foundation this guild is built on.

These beliefs include the fact that homosexuals, bisexuals, transpersons (both binary and non-binary), heterosexuals and cisgendered persons all deserve the same rights. These rights include, but are not limited to:

The right to marry, barring the disbanding of marriage altogether.
The right to equal medical treatment, including sexual reassignment surgery.
The right to be protected from harassment.
The right to live wherever a person wants.
The right to have equal opportunities at employment, including in the military.
The right to equal treatment under the law when adopting or raising a child.

These rights can be summed up with a single statement, as found in article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations:

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

Simple. Clear. Effective.

This guild does not, as a result, allow people to join haphazardly, so if you make a join request, be sure to include the following

Why do you want to be a member of the Rainbow Connection?
What areas of interest do you have in the area of GLBT rights?

Also include a link to your most recent posts and/or links to some of the best posts you have made in support of GLBT rights.

Once we receive your join request, it will go up for voting by the current membership of the Rainbow Connection. You will be voted for based on attitude and decorum observed by the guild members in your posts (ie do you flame a lot?), intelligent debating tactics (ie do you back yourself up or do you post and run?) and whether or not you have argued enough for GLBT rights to have proven yourself. If you are refused, don't despair! Try to improve (you can even PM one of the crew!) and reapply.

We also periodically send out invites based on excellent conduct in GLBT rights in the Extended Discussion section.
