The Pioneers
The Apocalypse. Armageddon. Gehenna. The Rapture. It had a hundred different names, in a hundred different religions, but the end result was more horrifying than all of them put together. When the gates of Hell opened and the denizens of that dark and dismal place spilled out into the world, it wasn't a war. It was an unholy massacre.
Many of us started praying when it first started. We thought the end days had come, and God would send his armies to battle the Hordes of the Underworld. All that got them was death on their knees. If they were lucky.
The rest of us banded together where we could, fighting for our survival while the rest of civilization crumbled around us. For a long time, it was a losing fight, and countless thousands died everyday. Then, out of nowhere, we finally found a glimmer of Hope to hang onto. It turned out we weren't the only ones fighting the Demons. There were Angels among us, fighting our common enemy. Unfortunately, they weren't exactly the Angels we'd been waiting for.
The Angels
Once, we stood before the might of God and declared "Better to Rule in Hell, than Serve in Heaven". We were cast out for our transgression, but not punished. Rewarded. Our own Kingdom of Darkness and Flame to rule for all eternity. This was our penance for our Sins, and we welcomed it.
But Lucifer, The Fallen, The Prince of Lies, deceived us. Our Kingdom was not his desire. His ambition stretched above to the Pits of Hell, extending to the Throne of the Almighty. Foolishness.
We have tolerated Lucifer's reign, for he provided us with our Kingdom, and our Freedom from God's yoke, but no longer. His foolish pride has made him blind to his own failings, and he seeks to bring doom to us all by calling down the ire of the Heavens. Our Kingdom must be preserved. The Legions must be forced back to Hell, and salvation delivered to this world...in a form. We will guard the Gates of Hell, become the Angels of Earth. And the Humans shall help us. Whether they want to or not.
The Legion
Long have we lain in Darkness. Long have we waited, quietly, kept alive by the squirming of Mankind's Dead. No longer. The time has come to conquer once again, to sink our fangs into the soil of God's Earth, and make our step towards Heaven's Throne. The Humans cannot stand against us, for they are weak and too few. The Usurpers fear their own power, and cling to what is safe and familiar. They have forgotten their ambition, and become complacent. In time, all shall fall before The Legion. All shall be devoured, absorbed, remade...
All shall become one with Lucifer.
