After war broke out in the world as we know it, humans no longer ruled the lands. The Day of Awakening brought out abilities in some people that gave them the gift of Sight, telepathy, power over an element (Earth, Air, Fire, or Water), or another such power. On that day, a new king rose to lead the world, King Lydon, the Magic King.
King Lydon rebuilt the world for the people and organized and divided them as he saw fit. There is a new military formed where humans and Awakened alike stood side by side. The humans in the military all wear white gloves and are equipped with weapons. All Awakened forces wear a different insignia and glove type depending on their ability as well as the insignia of what branch of the military they are from. Cut off fingers of blue gloves are worn marking those who can control the element of water (pulling the element from the air as was used in battle, required the skin to make contact with the open air). The Fire Users wear red, fire resistant gloves that have a cooling feature, keeping the hands from overheating with the use of their inner fire. When the element of air came into play, the wearers had yellow webbed gloves, allowing the User to create concentrated gusts of wind with their hands, making application of the force easier to control in close combat. The Earth users; controlling the very minerals of the earth wear dark green gloves adorned with six stones at the wrists, providing the wearer with stone bullets that could be used in emergency situations, when there was no stone to use. Only Elemental Awakened, known as Users lacked a weapon; no sword, no shield, no gun; only their talent.
Another division of the King's people are the Keys. The Keys are the highest division of the Magic King's people. They are the closest to his majesty, a mixture of humans and Awakened who advise, work for, and protect the world's King. Part of this group is also chosen to spread the King's Faith to the people of the world. The first step in The Faith is known as the Marking process, of which three Awakened are needed the Sojourn, the Reader, and the Eye. The Sojourn stops the active mind of the individual, while the Reader reads the past, present, and future the Eye sees. Then the Eye brands the individual with their sins on their left cheek.
