This new school is certainly
something. You've only just started here, and in such a big place it's easy to get lost. Nestled in a quiet little part of Japan, the building really stands out. Large, imposing and medieval. However, despite that, it seems to have aquired relatively little recognition. In fact, most people you spoke to hadn't even heard of it. You've seen all sorts of people upon starting here, people who would look out of place in regular society. There's been one or two humans about the place as well.
That doesn't make it any easier to navigate though...
After at least half an hour of blindly searching the windy corridors of a part of the building you probably shouldn't be in, you find a door that's standing ajar. It's probably a cleaner's cupboard, but you open it regardless - curious as to whether there's anyone you could ask directions from. Inside, the room is surprisingly large - dwarfing its only inhabitants - and is a bright and pleasant place, two large windows a little open and letting in plenty of light. A girl with long brown hair is sitting at a table, pouring over a thick-looking book. You wait a few seconds for her attention, before clearing your throat, making her look up suddenly in astonishment.
"Oh! Sorry I was... umm... reading!" she indicates the book as though to prove her point. "Hi there!"
After you give her your own greeting, the girl motions you to the sit scross the table. "I'm just studying in here. You're welcome to join me." A pause. "Oh yeah, my name's Kandera." She then pauses, watching you look about the room. You marvel at how light the room actually is - surprising for coming off such a deserted corridor - and then glance at a pile of books are on the floor near Kandera's feet. Your gaze moves elsewhere and you notice something that looks like a large gumball machine in a corner.
She sees you looking and smiles. "That's the Capsule Kitty Machine." After your pause she continues. "You put your money into the machine and you get a capsule out. Usually they have these cute kitty keyrings in," she reaches down and unclips something from her bag. "They look a little like this, though this isn't a normal keyring. The Kitties are special, they start growing when you open the capsule up. They make good friends, and they're one of the only pets this school allows." She pauses again, still smiling brightly. "That's actually why I'm here, I know all about the Kitties, so I try to help anyone who has a problem or a question. Of course, I still have to go to classes, but I try to help when I can."
Her face then took on a hopeful expression as she ventured, "Do you have enough change? For the Machine I mean?"
