Kanaumi Shounen Koukou

Announcement: Makeover via Wilted! =D

User Image

It's September at Kanaumi Shounen Koukou (Golden Sea Boy's Highschool), a new year with new fresh-faced students and returning scholars, a bevy of professors in a variety of subjects. Yet, despite the cozy atmosphere, all is not as it seems. The school is merely a front for the teachers and pupils who have formed an underground society. A society of sin and forbidden pleasures. A society in which unwitting slaves are "asked" to join whether or not they are willing. You have entered... The Twilight Zone... doodoodoodoo doodoodoodoo DOO!

...

Oh, I mean, The Slave Ring.

Concept lovingly stolen from Mini Mae and Yoshiki.

Layout of the School
First Floor: Cafeteria, offices, Home Economics, Government, History, English, Gym, the library, and the theatre.

Second floor: Dormrooms, mathematics, arts, sciences, and miscellanious.

The slave ring is located in a huge locked room that serves as the 'basement'. It is two stories deep and as large as the school itself.

Classes start at 8-10am and end at 4-6pm. Your schedule will depend on the classes you take. There are 5 classes in every schedule, and an hour lunch break. Then again, we don't really use that.

Teachers: During the day, when you are not teaching or speaking/tutoring students after class, please attend the Teacher's Lounge until class time ends.

Unless otherwise specified, slaves are public property. If you want to keep a slave all to yourself, bring it up with the principal. He's a very genial vampire, ne?

Rules
1. This is for literate people only. No netspeak will be allowed unless you're out of character. Posts should be two sentences or more. This isn't a joke, people. If you don't know how to spell 'disgust', or have never used the shift key in your life, don't even bother to apply.
2. It'll be PG-13. Anything more, take it to PMs folks.
3. This has the background of an underground slave ring. It is your choice whether or not to participate in it. Slaves can be passed around like party favors as you please!
4. To prevent anger, jealousy, and potential flaming to all parties, only original characters can be accepted.
5. Only humans, anthros, and vampires can be accepted. Why vampires? I don't know! And no magic.
6.Please attempt to post more than once in a blue moon. If you have a habit of joining roleplays and hanging about for a few days before disappearing, then this isn't the roleplay for you.
7. Keep conversation civilized. Flame wars will not be tolerated, folks. Conflicts should be dealt with by a mod.
8. Do not God mode. People don't like it.
9. This is a yaoi rp. As in guys butt-humping other guys. There are no women to be found here. Girl avatars, however, are fine.
10. Out Of Character remarks should be marked with (()) or :: :: or <> or something! Just so we can all tell!
10. FOR NEW MEMBERS: Character profiles should be submitted both on the thread and to ModlyNinja via PM in RED. That way we know you read the rules. xd

Information!
People who control ModlyNinja: BurrowedLurker, Atashidake, Redhanded, Angel_Satire... and possibly Wilted_Flower and Delora Black?

All right.

The RP has officially started.

Students, both new and old, are to go to the office and get their information packet, which includes their room number (it is optional for them to have a roommate--ask the other player OOCly if you want to arrange something with their character), their schedule (decided by the player), and basic information about the school, such as rules. Unfortunately, there is no map.

New students are encouraged to ask older students to help with getting themselves settled. Classes do not start for a week, RP-time, so they have enough time to adjust and make friends and the like.

New teachers also get their information packet, which tells them everything they need to know. They have their keys and stuff too, to their classrooms, their room, etc. They may share a room with another teacher if they wish. New teachers who are also Masters and have decided this with Ty (the principal) beforehand also have an extra key--to the basement. Classes do not start for a week, so they can adjust.

There will also be a mandatory staff meeting later on, and will be announced in the near future.

And...

Begin.

Upcoming Events~
近く公開のイベント

All over the school, brightly-colored flyers have been tacked up. They read:

Attention Students!
The new school year has begun, which means it's time for Kanaumi Koukou's anual school festival! While getting settled in this week, why not join the festival committe and help make this year's festival the best ever!? The festival will take place in one week's time, at the end of the adjustment period. Events will be dealt up by grade level. Let's kick off this year spectacularly!

This year:
1st years - responsible for games and entertainment. See if you can out-do last year's haunted classroom!
2nd years - responsible for snacks and food booths. Hope this year's students are good cooks...
3rd years - responsible for writing and putting on a play. Don't forget the drag!

See committee members if you have any questions. Booths will be available as soon as each class turns in their list of events.
~Suffixes~

This rp takes place at a school in Tokyo, Japan. Granted, most of the players not being Japanese, there's going to be lots of cultural inaccuracies. But hey, fictional liberties, right?

We can, however, be accurate in the area of language. Some rpers like to make use of the nifty suffixes that are used with names in Japan...but not everyone knows how to use them properly. If you're one of the those people who likes to delve in the craziness that is Japanese, why not look over this little instruction sheet to make sure you're using your suffixes correctly? (^o^)

-san
-san is probably the suffix you're going to use most, if you're being polite. -san is added at the end of someone's last name if you're referring to them as 'Mr.' or 'Mrs.' An example of this would be 'Atashi-san,' if for some reason you were referring to me as 'Mrs. Atashi.'
Note that -san is never used after first names. You wouldn't want to call the VP 'Tynan-san,' for example, because that's quite rude. 'Anderson-san' is what you're looking for. (^.~)

-sama
There's a slave/master aspect of this rp, so if you like getting creative with the suffixes, why not refer to your master as ____-sama? Sama is by far the most honorary of suffixes, the kind you'd use to say, the emporer if you went to visit him, or obviously, to your master if you were a slave or a servant. *grin* This one technically goes on the last name too, but it's rather hawt to use it with the first name, and much more intimate, so we can break that rule if you like. Hee.

--> On that note, the reason for not using first names in most cases is because first names, as well as anything that translates to the word 'you' in Japanese, is extremely familiar and quite intimate in most cases. You don't use stuff like that the same way we do in English. Being a foreigner who used to live in Japan, I think nothing of it when my American friends call me Danielle, or use the word you. But if someone speaking in Japanese refers to me using 'kimi,' I get either offended at being spoken down too, or rather flustered and embarrassed at such a personal term. If you're trying to be formal or whatnot, keep this in mind, as well as the idea that in Japan last name comes first. Not a big deal, but hey, some players like to be authentic. *shrug*

-kun
-kun is a proper way of addressing a boy. It's polite, but not overly formal. A teacher would stick this on the back of a boy's last name, or students would use it when referring to someone they didn't know well. Again, generally not used after the first name, though it's not as big a no-no as using -san after a first name.

-chan
-chan is a special sort of suffix. It's usually used after girls' names...but can be used for boys' names. -chan is a cutesy suffix, and on occasion boys will refer to their friends as ____-chan when they're giving their friends a hard time. Girls *coughorboys!cough* might refer to their boyfriends as ___-chan as well, affectionately. This suffix is used after the first name, not the last name, contrary to the others.

So there you have it, your suffixes. Remember, it's painful to people who do speak Japanese to read incorrect use of the language by westerners. Really, if you're not sure, just stick with English. It's better to be correct without Japanese than it is to be incorrect using Japanese. I figured that since some people like to use them, though might as well know how to use them right. Of course, we can't be perfectly correct all the time, being as we're using English to rp, but still. Happy suffixing! (^_^)/~
