Hello and welcome to my little shop. I'm sure many of you have seen these bright, lively fish swimming around in your local pet store before. Now, these cute fish can become your pet right here on Gaia. Browse around the shop to get an idea what they're like, stop in and ask some questions or just chat, whatever you do, I hope you have fun here! whee

Thursday, May 19: I made all of the guppy colors available now. My reasoning is that since the people who owned the fish that I'm using the pattern over never got back to me, they forfeited their right. When purchasing their pet, there were roleplaying rule and obligations that they all stopped following, so the right to have their fish's pattern exclusive to them was lost. Not trying to be mean, though ^_^; I think I might make a special fish for the original owners, to have something unique.
Wednesday, April 27:Moved the shop from the Breedable/Changable Pet forum into the Minishops forum! Let's hope things pick up!

Tuesday, October 12: Long time no update! I've been grounded since september, but I've managed to get on here and there. I just sketched some new fish lineart, and I've been considering a new anthro evolutionary path, much like what my sneeps are doing. It'll give people something to work for. I finished the pregnant female lineart for a certain expecting fishy. wink I should be ungrounded in about a month, and things will resume full swing then. I'm also considering hiring a RP coordinator/manager!
Mon July 19: Happy Birthday to my sister, Ashley! The flatsale finally ended today, it started yesterday, but things were slow and the last yellow pair finally got adopted.
Tues July 13: Added some new items to the shop section, jellystones and pearls, more will be coming shortly.
Mon July 12: Okies, I've decided to hold my next flatsale this wednesday, that's in two days folks! Plenty of warning, right? I'm going to take Olivanders advice and split the batch in two. The first sale of the day will be at 3:00pm EST. The second will take place later in the evening at 12:00pm EST. The people at the first sale will have their pick of all 10 guppies. At the 12:00 one, the 5 remaining guppies will up for adoption.
Sun July 11: The second part of the item shop was opened today, you can now purches items to take care of your guppy. More tank decorations will be coming soon!
Sat July 10: The first sale was held today, it was a big success and all of the guppies now have homes! There was a bit of confusion which will be cleared up for the next flatsale within the coming week.
Sat July 10: First flate sale, starts at 5:00 pm EST. Be there or be, uhm, square! whee
Wed July 07: Opened up shop, woohoo!

Ahh, so you're interested in these lil' guys? Here's where you can read up on 'em.

Poecilia reticugaia, what kind of name is that? Well, the latin name for guppies is Poecilia reticulata. These fish are pretty much exactly like the P. reticulata; the only difference is that the females of the P. reticugaia species are much, much more colorful than the females of P. reticulata. P. reticugaia, infact, were developed from the P. reticulata. Only the females with the prettiest colors and markings were chosen to breed, and the result of all that selective breeding yielded P. reticugaia! And I bet you're sick of seeing P. reticuwhatever, right? So from now on, they will be simply known as Guppies, to save time typing. You could also just call 'em Poecilia.

So, what kind of fish are guppies? They're a freshwater, livebearing, surface-dwelling fish. This means that they live in water that is anywhere from 75 to 80 degrees fahrenheit. Also, they give birth to live babies. What, no eggs? You betcha! They're just like any mammal, once born, the babies are ready to fend for themselves, they may be small, but they're tough! whee Guppies are designed to dwell near the surface of the water, they have upturned mouths to skim food off the top easily.

Guppies in the wild originated in the mountain streams of Trinidad, North Brazil, Guyana, Venezuela, and Barbados. In addition to the aforementioned races, there is also the wild Guppy of Florida in which the body is coppery or reddish-brown and the tail has a striking pattern of black dots. The leopard Guppy is a natural mutant which also occurs in Florida, this has a pardine pattern of peacock's eyes overlaying the greenish-yellow ground color. There are several other color varieties of the wild Guppy. Wild guppies are pretty drab, but through selective breeding, your average guppy in a pet store has very striking markings.

Guppies enjoy eating your standard flaked fish food. There are special kinds of food developed for the specific needs of livebearing fish, and to help maintain their colors. They are beneficial, but not necessary. For a special treat, guppies love to eat bloodworms, either alive, frozen, or freezedried. They also enjoy brine shrimp. Baby guppies enjoy a light meal of infusoria, or finely crumbled adult fish food. For more information on the food of guppies, click here!

The personalities of guppies are quite comical. They zoom all over the tank, and have quirky, chipper personalities. The males are very competitive over females, and show off their tales to impress any girls watching. The favorite pastime of guppies is breeding, they have babies, alot.

Roleplaying Information and Requirements</center>
What are the roleplaying requirements for these fish, you ask? There are none, not anymore! With the forum change, all roleplaying requirements have been dropped. However, you can still RP your fish if you want. Here are some guidelines and suggestions to help you if you don't know exactly how to RP your fish wink !

Just how do you RP a fish? Well, I'm sure you've all seen the mannerisms of fish before. Guppies are quirky, playful and very active fish, keep that in mind. These guppies, like the real ones, cannot talk. However, they can have human thoughts and emotions. I think it provides a challenge to the RPer, you need to express their emotions and thoughts through their actions, it's really not that hard though, and it's actually quite fun! I'll post up some examples from the thread.

Cute, eh? I told you it wasn't that hard. In this thread, for RPing purposes, we have a 20 gallon aquarium set up, so that when you visit, you can place your fish in it so that it may socialize with the other fish more easily. I'll post up a picture of this tank, but for now, this description from the thread should do the job.

Water Sneeps

Is your guppy feeling lonely? Do you think that maybe he wants a tank mate? Maybe you have an algae buildup, and need small cleaning crew? Here you can buy cute little water sneeps for your guppy! These are just like the normal sneeps, except for they can live in the water, don't try putting a normal one in water, it'd drown! Don't know what a sneep is? Click here!

You can get up to two water sneeps per bowl, other wise it'd be too crowded! They can be in any of the three positions shown, only one sneep per position though, of couse. If you want to order some for your bowl, use this form, and post it in the thread! Note: If only ordering one water sneep, put "N/A" next to line 3 and 4. Each water sneep costs 100g.

Supplies

Like all pets, your guppy needs fed. In this corner of the shop, you can buy food, and various other things to help take care of your guppy. These items will appear in a new inventory tag that will be located in the upper righthand corner of your guppies bowl. This tag won't show up unless you order an item from this section. You can get the tag to match, or coordinate the color scheme in your bowl, here are the available colors:<center>

From left to right, the items are as follows: Chlor-out, Guppy Food, Freezedried Bloodworms, Baby -be- Gone, and a Green Net o' Doom.
Now you may be wondering the prices of these items, and their functions, take a look here for information.

Chlor-out: This product removes any traces of chlorine found in your water. Chlorine is very harmful to your fish, and will kill it. This product also conditions the water to help break down fish waste, reduce odor, and clarify the water. This product costs 50g.

Guppy Food: This specialized food is designed just for guppies. It enhances their color, and meets all their specific dietary needs. This product costs 50g.

Freezedried Bloodworms: One of guppies favorite treats, just sprinkle some on the surface of the water and watch them gobble them up! Use in moderation, fish can become overweight. This product costs 60g.

Baby -be- Gone: A new, invaluable product in the fish industry, this product is a successful birth control for both genders of the guppy species. What does this mean? When you use this product, your guppy, male or female, can socialize with any other guppy without running the risks of unwanted pregnancy. Just put a capful into the water of the tank they will be in, and all will be well. This product costs 70g.

Green Net o' Doom: If you want to change your guppies bowl, or put him in the main tank for socializing, you'll need this net to scoop him out. It's made of soft, pliable polyester, so it won't damage your fishes fin. This product costs 100g.

Do you think your guppy's bowl feels a bit empty? Want to spruce it up? Here you can purchase some new bowl decorations for your fish.

This example bowl contains a pearl and Jellystones, the newest fad in tank decorations! You can get a maximum of three Jellystones per bowl, and each one can be any of the 7 colors available. The Jellystone on the far right cannot occupy the same space as the castle or treasure chest (shown further down)! Also, Jellystone 1 & 2 are linked together, they cannot be seperated!
