In my shop, Dollhouse Simulation ((also known as mini sims)) journals are important for two reasons.
My shop is a semi intense rp. Meaning you have to role play at least once and awhile ((twice a week at least)) journals give you a way to do so in private.
Also extra clothes, relationships, wants, needs and goals are displayed here. Below are Expressionless's sims:
Aya
Wants- nothing is content how things are
Needs- nothing at all
Goals- To teach her toddler all he needs to know
Fears- Child taken by Social worker

Goals- To be potty trained

(Most sims, like people, want something just remember that doesn't nessessarly mean they need it. Needs are much more important they are what are important to your sims lives. Goals are things that when fufilled greatly increase happiness and help your sims live a fufilled life.
Example: Aya wants to raise her toddler well so that he will be a happy child. To do this teach him what he needs to know [how to walk, talk and be potty trained.
Also make sure to make them happy [Not overly just more then halfway it is exetremely difficult to keep them all the way happy] New entertainment, rping, befriending other sims, nd treats make them happy. Too many treats can also make them sick.
