The Gratis Bakery has many food items for sale, and as you relax on a chair, you notice something in the corner.

It's an odd pale creature, roughly the size of one's palm was hovering above what appeared to be a basket of eggs. It notices you and grins, its shattered eyes crinkling in malicious delight. With one of its unproportionate arms it gestures you to approach the basket. And once you are close enough, the creature grows to your size.

You notice its head is separated from its torso, which is separated from a pillar of cloth that serves as a lower body. The sheet winds around your arm, pulling you close to it.

"Hello." the creature greets, its voice a mixture of a male and female. "I see you've noticed my basket of eggs. Pretty plain, aren't they? Of course they are." It cackled, abruptly releasing you.

"But... appearances can be deceiving." it says, suddenly shrinking to half its size. "Much like these eggs. By now I hope your mind has realized these are no ordinary eggs. They're a delicacy, really. Fertilized duck eggs, which unlike regular eggs, the chick is slightly formed before it is cooked. As you bite into it, you can feel its bones being ground by your teeth. And sometimes, if you're lucky, a feather or two has formed. It's absolutely divine." it purred.

"Malady? What are you doing?" a woman suddenly arrives, blinking at the gray creature as well as yourself. "Oh, I'm sorry about Malady, the Intangible's not a very social creature. I'm Huni Pi and I'm Malady's human." she explains.

"I was just telling this person about the Balut." Malady shrugged, the cloth slinking around Huni's waist. "And I was about to get to the best part! So let me finish." it hissed, shattered eyes narrowing nastilly at Huni.

"Fine, continue, it's not like you listen to me anyway..." Huni muttered.

Malady ignored the red head's comment and proceeded with its story. "These Balut comes from the Philippines, and like all countries there are special creatures there. I've met these creatures during my vacation, and as a souveneir, I managed to convince those creatures into cursing these eggs. That's not the best part though." it chuckled.

Holding out one of the fertilized eggs, Malady cackled maniacally before continuing, "The best part is that should any Gaian eat this, he or she will turn into something similar to the creature who cursed the egg! Yes, humans will turn into a Filipino mythical creature!! Isn't that so astig?" it clapped, accidentally crushing the egg in its hands.

"Great... now I have to clean that up." Huni muttered, disentangling herself from the cloth to fetch a mop.

"And get me some soda while you're at it!" Malady called out, growing to Huni's size. Its shorter arm elongates to pluck out another Balut and offers it to you. "Here, they're on the house. If you want to eat it, be my guest. But I suggest you feed it to intruders. Come back from time to time to see if I've caught any. Can Huni get you anything else?"

ooc explanation:
Malady went to the Philippines and brought back some baskets of Balut. Before it returned, it met up with Filipino creatures and asked them to curse the eggs. Now if anyone eats these Balut, he or she will turn into a Filipino mythological creature!

Welcome, I see Huni hasn't bored you out of your skull yet. What? She has? Then let me bore you some more with how things work around here. Unlike other shops, there is no such thing as a Flatsale. There are auctions, contests and raffles, but no flatsales. Why?

Well it's because I am giving these eggs away for free! Yes, completely free, just take the code and stick it anywhere you like, in your sig, in your shop, I don't care.

Still with me? Good, because I shall continue to bore you with the next steps. You wait. Yes, you read correctly. You WAIT. For what? Well, after a while, a mark will appear on the egg indicating that I have found an intruder! Tadaaa! But what sort of mark, you ask? Well whee indicates a female intruder and blaugh means a male intruder.

Once you see the mark, come to the thread, you can rush over like mad the way Huni does whenever she hears the word flatsale. You can take your sweet time, or even get someone to buy the pet for you, I don't care. But to get the intruder, someone has to come to the thread and post this "<insert your name/your friend's name here> saw an intruder enter the kitchen."

If you are the first poster, then you get the intruder. Of course, then you have to send the trade to Huni Pi. The amount to send to Huni will be indicated in this post.

Stages of growth will be explained here, as well as the different sorts of creatures that cursed the Balut. Stage 1 is the egg, simple enough. Anyone can direct link it, and it's free.

Stage 2 is the 'intruder' being caught. The intruder is then fed the egg and after a few weeks, it will reach the 3rd stage.

Stage 2.5 this will only be for creatures who are capable of turning into an animal form. Intruders who turn into these creatures have a choice of staying in the animal form or move onto stage 3 and have a demi-human form.

Stage 3 is when the curse finally takes effect. Your intruder has now been transformed into one of the mythological creatures of the Philippines with some minor alterations that is.

Constantly red hued eyes, and is never seen without a tobacco or cigar. Malicious by nature but is also capable of showing kindness. This type of creature is exclusively male.



<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/balut_vendor/Sirenamini.gif" align=right> Sirena - Twin-tailed Filipino Mermaids, said to dwell in underwater palaces and captures humans to become either servants (if captured human is female) or their mates (if capture human is male). If the human tries to escape, he or she drowns. This type of creature is exclusively female.

Their heads are those of a horse, and unlike centaurs who retain four legs, Tikbalang have only two legs. This type of creature is predominantly male.

They have a fondness for unborn children (expectant parents beware) and will also eat young children. Manananggals appear as normal women by day but split into two at night. Bat-like wings grow on their back or arms and they fly into the night sky while their lower half stays at home and keeps itself busy with other stuff. This type of creature is exclusively female.



[image coming soon] Duende - Filipino dwarves. This type of creature is predominantly male.



[image coming soon] Lady - Spirits who have yet to move on to the next plane of existance. The hue of their aura indicates their nature, white is for lost and lonely souls, black is for malicious and angry, and red is in the middle. This type of creature is exclusively female.

[image coming soon] Tang - A chimeral creature, composed of different animals that are born from eggs. Intelligent, slightly hostile, and easily angered, the Tang is a creature that is not to be taken lightly. Rather one can appease it by feeding it meat, preferably those that are well prepaid and highly expensive.

Ah yes, that oh so wonderful thing called procreation heart where creatures fall in love and decide to produce more creatures. Well, sorry to burst your romantic bubble, but these creatures don't breed. These Filipino creatures do not produce biological infants or eggs. To multiply in numbers, they usually get a corpse and turn it into a food product and feed it to an unsuspecting victim.

But since that is too icky for most Gaians, their creatures can just curse another egg (in rare cases another food product) and then feed it to an unsuspecting victim. Meaning you don't need another creature to 'breed.' Just like vampires who bite a human and badabing badaboom, another vamp is made.

Now, while it may sound simple, the process of cursing will drain your creature and will thus prevent him or her from infecting more Balut for a few weeks. How many Balut can one creature infect? Anywhere from 1-4 eggs. The amount of Balut you receive depends on how much you pay and if you RP your creature.

Cursing prices is similar to the "Flatsale" prices with a 500g increase. So if you purchased a 1.5k Balut, you pay 2k for every Balut you want. Remember, there's a maximum of 4 Balut.

Sometimes, you can get an extra egg for free! If and only if you've RPed lots in the thread, or kept it alive n.n I'm keeping the definition of 'lots' a secret n.n

I'd say 50k per custom order and you get four unique images (since I set the cap of auctions at 50k, why should customs be any less?).

A: These were fed to Gaians, and we're in Gaia at the moment, so I'm allowed some creative liberties here. I do try to keep as true to the original description as possible though. Besides... some creatures violate the Gaian TOS @_@

Q: Will you do a pet trade?
A: Oh most definately! I'm not that picky as I have shallow happiness. Just PM me your offer, I might say no but not likely. What sort of pets am I willing to trade for? Something non-RP heavy, I have only enough brain cells for a few more RP heavy pets and I've decided on those I want. I'm also a sucker for a predominantly orange pet heart

Q: Are these RP heavy pets?
A: Nope, RP is not required. You just get special perks if you RP lots though n.n

Q: Will there be like Vampires or Werewolves and stuff?
A: Not in the Western sense, Filipino vampires aren't pale and goth-like, and we don't have werewolves, we have weredogs XD So unless you decide to get a custom... ninja

Q: How many are we allowed to own?
A: As many as you want. Since these are not RP heavy, I feel that it's easy enough to manage them.

Q: Wha? Intruder then creature stage? Is that all?
A: Um... yes... but if you got a custom, you get a food stage too. Besides, it's not like you're limited to only one type of creature... collect them all! XD

Oh boo hoo for you. I'm going to talk about myself now. I'm Malady, and I'm the first Intangible ever found in the Gratis Bakery Kitchen. Yes, worship my ghastly paleness and split torso-ness! Let's see, what can I say about myself?

I'm unpredictable, yes I am. I like lots of things one moment and then I might hate it the next. The only thing constant about me is how fickle I am. That and I like to hunt for more Intangibles. There are lots in the kitchen, but they don't want to be found yet. I have no gender, Intangibles never do... but Huni says I'm female because I'm too 'mataray' to be a male. Either way, I know I am hawt!

Um hi, I'm Huni Pi... Huni to most, Addy to a few... I own a couple of other shops and I'm still something of a newbie. Haven't been on Gaia for more than a few months. I have shallow happiness and I like to delude myself into thinking I am an adequate artist and writer. I'm currently in my junior year in college, what university? Well it's not the University of the Philippines that's for sure. A hint? Well I'm rooting for the Blue Eagles, that's for sure!

If I'm not online or doing anything Gaia-related I'm usually hanging out in my org room or trying out for a play. I'm hoping they'll do a recast of Mr. 80% and I hope to get Patricia's role this time. Ronnie's fun and all but... I wanna be the taray biznatch instead of the flakey ditz who's actually smart. O_o

I'm still single but I'm not looking. Single Blessedness all the way!
