Being alchemically created, alchemoombas start 'life' as a bottle of fluid and chemicals. The bottles aren't sold until they become viable (they don't always!), so by the time they're available, you can see the tiny creature taking form within. The fluid can be literally any color, and may even have swirls or specks floating in it... this is usually a good indication of the color of the cub that will emerge, but not always!

Alchemoombas in this stage are fairly fragile... if you spill the fluid, your alchemoomba will die! So be careful of those bottles; the glass is fairly thick (only the best Pyrex!) but definitely not unbreakable. Alchemoombas in this stage can react to their environment, but remain within the safety of their bottle.

If the proper care is taken with the bottle, it will crack, and break open, spilling a newborn (and very wet) alchemoomba cub into the great wild world! Like any kitten, alchemoomba cubs are energetic, curious creatures that spend most of their time eating, sleeping, and playing! They are also the most impressionable at this stage, so it's important to raise them well or else you might have a real problem on your hands. Raising is complicated, somewhat, by the fact that a cub's elemental tendency begins to manifest at this stage (this is particularly a problem with Fire and Thunder elementals...).

Alchemoombas commonly manifest the following elements:
Fire, Ice, Thunder, Water, Aero, Earth, Dark, Holy, Bio, Cure, Protection, and Time.

Sometimes there are other elements, but they are /quite/ rare (and will usually be raffled off rather than sold or auctioned.)

Congratulations! When your alchemoomba has reached this stage, it is full grown! Its abilities are fully developed, and it is now able to breed if the owner (and the alchemoomba!) wishes. Some alchemoombas have learned to talk by this stage, but their concept of 'full sentences' is kind of iffy, and often merely consists of their owner's name repeated over and over, with meaning implied purely by inflection.

THREAD RULES

1. First and foremost, PLEASE don't steal our art. The artists work hard on it, and I'd really hate to see people taking it without paying for it. Art theft is illegal. If you decide to steal the drawings, I will find out. Just don't do it. Penalties for art theft include: Blacklisting, reporting to a mod. You will not be allowed to own an Alchemoomba, any Alchemoomba you DO own will be taken away, and you will be blacklisted from both artists' other shops as well. Yes, we know moombas are a Squaresoft creation, but all the art appearing in this thread is original and not taken from any Square sources.

2. Flatsales will be held in this way: When I open a flatsale, I will ask a question. You will have one hour to answer the question thoroughly. There will be places assigned... The first place winner will have first pick of the bottles, and so on down the line. This is to prevent people with fast modems from snapping up bottles and not giving everyone a chance. It's also a measure I can use for quality control. Thanks to Jynk for the idea.

3. No harassing me or the people who post here and/or own Alchemoombas. This means: If you don't like the Alchemoomba you get, please don't complain. If you absolutely must predefine your Alchemoomba, wait for a custom auction. Don't harass other owners, either, and to those that have enough to bid in auctions... Well. Leave them alone, too.

4. Be respectful to the others on the forum, and do your best to type legibly in the English language (No L33T. Type with proper capitalization/punctuation/spelling.) No flame wars or meaningless posts. Bumping is allowed; I just don't want to see anything that might belong in another forum.

5. No reserving. For auctions and flatsales, PLEASE wait 'til I give the okay to start posting. Posts made before the 'go' post WILL BE IGNORED. Don't PM me about auctions/flatsales/raffles either, there'll always be at least a couple of days notice ahead of time when something is going to happen.

6. Don't edit a post once you've posted. Also, one Alchemoomba per flatsale or auction. Thanks.

7. People can be Blacklisted at either artist's discretion. Blacklisting will last anywhere from a month to being permanent. Don't ask to be removed from the Blacklist. It won't happen.

8. You may have a total of three Alchemoombas. If you already have one or two, and there's someone posting on the thread that's been wanting one, PLEASE be considerate and use your best judgement. Purposely sniping and stealing a bottle out from under a hopeful owner's nose will earn you the bottle, but you'll also be grey-listed.

9. To prevent sniping in auctions, bidding will close ten minutes after the last bid is placed. If the set time for the auction ends and there are people still bidding, it will be allowed to continue until there's a ten minute time cushion. Allowances may be made if Gaia is being particularly stupid that day.

10. Now and then, there will be special Alchemoombas. These will be a bit more expensive, though there may be anything from a special palette to modified or entirely new lineart. There is a limit of ONE special/custom per person, no exceptions.

11. Co-owning is not and will never be allowed. It bothers me greatly that two people will actually get together and pool all their money in an attempt to take a pet out from under the noses of people that don't like co-owning. You cannot consistantly play a character this way. Do not ask about it, please. There are NO CIRCUMSTANCES where I will allow co-owning, even if I've know you on Gaia for 10 years.

RP:

You're welcome to RP in this thread (Or on the RP forum). You don't HAVE to. I understand that not everyone that wants to own an Alchemoomba will have the time to RP. However, I also know that a lot of the people that want pets DO like to RP with them. I won't stop you, and I may, in fact, join in now and then. ^_^ However, I ask that you not try to force people to RP if they can't or don't want to.

All the Alchemoombas will be given personalities as they emerge. If you RP here, I will take your RP with them into account when I age them. Alchemoombas will go from bottle to cub fairly quickly, but if you RP with your pet, it will grow up faster! I think that's about it... Any other questions, please feel free to ask.

On that end, I do ask that you post once in a while in the thread, just so I can keep track of who's got a pet. Even if it's just a couple times.
