About Miyu



I joined Gaia in May of 2005. I shortly sat down and looked upon the Donation Items (now called Monthly Collectibles) that had come before me and carefully selected how many I thought it would be cool to have. I narrowed it down over the years, invested in some letters, ran a few contests, some shops -some successful, others not so much, but all were a learning experience.

What I rapidly learned was I hate bumping contests! I felt personally responsible to ensure that no one was cheating and what that meant was personally going through each and every page. Each and every one. The worst part about it was having to read how boring someone was bumping - gah! Try counting!
I vowed never again to do a contest in this way. There had to be a better way! I quickly devised a method of using the random number generator, it became my friend and I use it to this day!

Prior to this thread I was a generous donator, believing very strongly that whatever goes around comes around, and I think this has definitely proven true. Of all the KiKis, Fairy Wings, CoCos, letters, and random items I have given away I have to say that I am pleased to see that the generous spirit of Gaians is still alive and well.

I have always wanted to run a Charity on Gaia. I always felt like it would be a conflict of interests to me to run a charity while still coveting pixels (unless it is an Infinite Quest: ie Devil Tail), so early in 2007, I thought it was time to get serious, and sat down and figured out everything that I absolutely felt like I wanted, then started this thread. I started on DIs/MCs first because these are the ones that will always go up in price, and the quicker I could get them the better. Store items are pretty safely the same, so they could all wait. Even so there is over a million in store items!!

It's also been my personal belief that it is the quester that should do most of the bumping of his or her thread so that's why I issued a personal bump challenge. Here, finally is a small payback for all those bumping contests I ran... my turn to bump! So far I have completed a 5,000 Bump Challenge, and am working on the 10,000 Bump one. I have yet to find it particularly boring, but I tend to read fark or play games while bumping. I always vowed once I got everything I wanted (mostly) I would run a charity, and I have to say that time is rapidly approaching.

As for the Devil Tail, I will be questing it at the same time as running this soon to be charity thread, but not as strongly as I pursued the other pixels. I actually think setting myself a goal, if even one that would conceivably take years or not be obtainable at all is good for me, besides you never know what could happen here on Gaia. I don't find this a conflict of interests as I intend to make the focus of the thread the Charity.
Any Item donations I receive that are not on the my store item quest list (Page 2) or specifically named DI/MCs will be turned around and given away unless it's a Devil Tail. I have decided the Devil Tail is just out of my reach. I would have more fun giving away items in a KiKi give-away so will focus on that.

Q. So what's next for the thread, Miyu?
A. I have about million and a half in store items to pursue, but after that, you can expect me to start questing for KiKis until I have enough for the Charity (15).

Big Dreams:

Devil Tail 104,000,000g
If I made 50k a day it would take between five and six years (give or take w. inflation/deflation) to earn the Devil Tail. I am sure that's not doable w/ inflation. However if a Gaian Angel were to bestow one on me, that would be seriously cool.

Q. Think you will actually get all that?

A. Original Answer: Eventually, any thing's possible. I'm not in any huge hurry here. I believe hard work, a little luck, and determination will get me there.

New Answer: I think I have shown the above answer to be true. Maybe one day my Devil Tail and Angelic Sash (or Angelic Halo -ha ah ha!) will also show that to be true, I don't know.
I am not an exchanger: I am not good at it, and I don't enjoy doing it so I don't intend to make my gold this way. I learned that by the liquidation sales I and a friend had while getting me the DI/MC pixels. It's just not fun for me. So I intend to do other things with my quests, and hopefully just have fun and make good friends while I slowly build up pure to eventually make an offer on one of the insanely expensive items. In the meantime I hope to help some people get some free items or win big. Watch and see.

You create your own odds!

Post in this thread as many times as you want, when it's time for me to give away the item I will roll Gaia's randomizer equal to the # of pages in this thread. That will determine the page # of the winning post. Then I will go to that page and roll the randomizer again until I end up on someone's post that is not me, and that person wins.

No you don't have to give me anything to win, just post.

Yes, you can bump if you want to. I'd prefer you talk though, but bump away if that's your thing.

If that person is the only one that posted on that whole page, they automatically win.
That's right, a prize just for posting/bumping.

Every post is available for any roll. So a post made in April 2007 may still actually win something in the June 2010 Give-away or later, and so on and so forth.

You create your own odds of winning; more posts equals more chances to win.

Some Rules

My posts don't count.
If it's a page full of my own posts then I will randomize a page # again. If it's my own post that is a winner with the second roll, I'll re-roll until I hit a post that is not me. If there is only one other person besides me on that page, they automatically win.

If the post contains the word "bored" in it, it is disqualified.

If the post is an ad, including avi contests, it is disqualified.
If you want to advertise ask me about appearing in the Spotlight Post.

If the post is a beg, it is disqualified.
