For months now I've had a huge blowout contest in the works. But until my friend (who is a big part of that contest) finishes up some things, I can't get it started. gonk So in the meantime (because I am an impatient/impulsive person) I decided to test the waters of the Art Contest forum, and throw myself a contest of a much smaller scale. whee

This will be a very simple contest (hopefully. sweatdrop ). All you need to do is draw art of any of the avatars provided in the following posts. xd

Deadline: {Update}
The deadline for entries is April 30th.
If you aren't finished by that date, please feel free to submit a WIP (work in progress) version. Just be sure to tell me that your entry is a WIP.
If I get any WIPs, they will be given an extra week to finish up. Judging will begin as soon as the week is up, or all WIPs have been finished, whichever comes first. 3nodding

It's Over!! Thanks SO MUCH to everyone that entered, and even more to all you awesome people that came and bumped for me! You guys rock hardcore. heart

Judging will take place within the next week, after all the WIPs are finished. You've all been awesome about being patient with a flake like me, but I'll have to ask you to hang on just a liiiiittle bit longer. I swear it won't take another month this time (Haha. I suck, I know).

A quick update before I run out the door: I'm going to be insanely busy this weekend (I'm attending an anime convention today, and a wedding on saturday. Sunday is still up in the air), so won't be around till very late, if at all. Any extra bumping is very much appreciated. heart

Alright, in the end I've decided to extend the contest by another couple weeks. Both because of my own reasons, and because I've gotten a few requests for extra time to finish. ^_^;; I'm sorry for the inconvenience to everyone that's been waiting.

I want to apologize to everyone for not being able to be online much. Due to medical issues that I will not get into, and other real life issues, it's been difficult for me to find time to bump/make updates/etc.
So in light of this, I'm considering extending the contest deadline (to make up for my lack of advertising/slow responding to possible entrants). I'll make my decision in a few days. Again, very sorry to everyone. emo

F.A.Q

Q: Is there an entry fee?
A: Goodness no! eek Entry is completely free, and everyone is welcome to join.

Q: Can I enter more then once?
A: Of course! whee You can enter as many times in as many categories as you like.

Q: Can I win more then once?
A: Unfortunately no. Since this is a small contest and there's only three prizes, it wouldn't be very fair if one person won all/two thirds of the prizes. D: However, depending on my funds, I may give tips/small prizes to people at the end of the contest.

Q: What medium does my entry have to be? Does it need to be coloured?
A: All mediums and styles are welcome. ^_^ So just draw the way you feel most comfortable with. heart

Q: Do I have to draw the outfits in the referance pictures?
A: You can draw the ref oufits if you want to, but it isn't required.

Q: Do we only draw the Avatar outfits? Or can I draw them wearing something different?
A: Please feel free to play around. ^_^ Original clothing is something I love, so I may have a special prize for best original outfit. whee

Q: Can I change their hairstyles?
A: Surely! As long as you keep some basic stuff (like basic length, or Akio's overlapping colours), you can so whatever you like with their hair. ^_^

Although this in an avi art contest, the avatars are still based on original charcters who have distinctive hairstyles/physical features that can't be represented by avatars alone. D: So please take a look these referance sheets (orignially drawn for my eventual big contest).

You can also find additional images of these characters in my DA gallery.

Things to remember:

- Akio is a boy. I can't seem to stress that enough. T__T; I use a female avatar for him, simply because he is girly and like to crossdress. So remember: Girly Akio = Good. Akio with boobies = bad. ...Funny, but not accurate. D:
- Please don't forget to draw Naisei's stripes. I do that myself sometimes, but they're a staple of her character design.
- If you're stuck on ideas, the image filenames should give you a hint of what theme the avatar was going for.
- Don't fret if you feel your art "isn't good enough". I love all levels and styles of art, some of my favourite things are silly MSpaint doodles.
- Please try your best and remember to have fun. heart

About Jena:
A little on the anti-social side, a lot on the spastic side, "crazy" is the best word to describe Jena. She loves to laugh, and is easily amused, but can go kind of emo at the drop of a hat. She likes RPG, anime, and cute things.

Avatars:

- The eye colour on all avatars should be lavendar.
- Fox ears/tail are optional on all avatars (excluding avatar #4 (the "kitsune magic" file)).
- If you do draw the fox ears/tail, please colour them golden yellow instead of red (as seen here: {x}).
- Please don't draw the bouquet on avatar #6. Bouquet is optional on avatar #8.
- On avatar #5, please draw the ninja headband around her waist, not over her eye.
- Slippers are optional on avatar #7.

About Akio:
Akio is cute, silly, sweet, and...a bit stupid. He's extremely feminine, and is mistaken for a girl all the freaking time. He's innocent to a fault, and doesn't realize his fondness for girl's clothing and cute fuzzy things might be a little strange. But don't blame him for it, it isn't his fault his brain is damaged. T__T

Avatars:

- Akio's eyes should be violet/purple.
- The hair ribbons on avatar #1 are optional.
- On any avatars that have the bell collar, please change the strap from red to black, or at least to a colour that matches the outfit. ^_^;
- On avatars #5 and #6, please replace Kiki with Akio's trademark creepy pink bunny plushe.
- Creepy Bunny can be included with any avatar.
- On avatar #6, please don't include the bra. Since...he's a boy afterall. gonk It was just included for the sake of avatar modesty. sweatdrop
- Also on avatar #6, the jacket/shirt should be buttoned partway. And the slippers are optional.
- Please draw the ninja band on avatar #7 around his neck, not over his eye.
- On avatar #7, the gloves should be black/charcoal, and more like detatched sleeves then gloves.

About Naisei:
Naisei is a generally hyper person, but tends to angst a lot. She's mentally unbalanced, and WINS at mood swings. D: It probably what comes from being bound in a piece of metal for a couple thousand years. *brick'd* But despite her...instabilities, she's a kind girl. ^_^;; ...She...also has a fondness for sexy/slutty clothes. >_>;

- Please make the ninja band on avatar #5 cover both her eyes. Also, please make the wings on the anklets black instead of white.
- On all avatars, please only draw the angelic bracelets on her left wrist, not both wrists.

So, since I'm not online/on Gaia 24/7, and I have a bad habit of AFKing for long periods of time, I've decided to start a bump contest. whee

How it works:

Bump 100 times, and win 1000 gold. whee It's not that hard. Sorry I can't offer a bigger prize then that, I'm still saving gold for follow up contests. sweatdrop But who knows, I may give special secret prizes. ninja

Rules:

- Please number your bumps. That doesn't have to be the entire bump, but put it somewhere. I'm too dumb to go back and count myself. sweatdrop
- No spam bumping please. =3;; Try to space your posts 3-5 minutes appart at least (unless you're actually having a conversation with someone or something. D: ).

Yes, it's finally that time! After a ton of deliberation, and a a lot of harassing my friends for their opinions, the winners have finally been decided! Huzzah! ^o^

Yes, the Jena category was a tie. gonk Even after consulting all my friends, we just couldn't decide between the two. So rather then doing something unfair (like flipping a coin or something. gonk ) I chose to just set a tie. Because I win at being indecisive. sweatdrop

It was really hard to choose ALL the winners actually. D: I got so many wonderful entries, and I really love all of them. ;-; And I love all of you for entering. Thank you for making my first contest such a great success! heart
