This thread is a private roleplay thread for Phase Two of the Fa'e Lost Children Contest. Please do not post here unless you are one of the participants listed below! The rules of this phase of the contest can be found here with additional information here for your reference.

You have until February 1st to complete this RP! Please do your very best to do five RP posts apiece, following the post order you set. Remember to keep checking back and post as promptly as you can when it's your turn!

Group #1 Participants: Unseasoned (Rebus), Risth (Iarlaith), Mintaka (Istaxire).

Post Order: Unseasoned, Risth, Mintaka

Prompt: The lost Fa'e and their Guardians have been retrieved from their respective worlds and brought to Gaia by Airi. However, a member of Chaos' Legion has been waiting for the new arrivals, and as Airi leads the group to Fa'e HQ, the twisted creature attacks!

... Specifically, it attacks in the form of Xochitl's pink elephant toy, now possessed and forced into a grotesque and terrible life-size. The monstrosity lunges for Airi, and manages to squish her down beneath its horrible blotched rump. Airi vanishes, whether by her own choice or someone else's magic it is not clear... and the posessed plushie turns on the Lost Children and their Guardians.

What do you do?

Notes: The setting is in front of Fa'e HQ - basically grass, somewhat withered from winter frost, and a dirt path. The weather is chilly, but not freezing, and somewhat overcast. The time is mid-afternoon.

The monster will attack using basic physical attacks and brute force, no magic or other powers - solely strength. It is big (since it is an elephant and all) and surprisingly fast, and strong... but it's not incredibly smart. Not dumb as a post, but nobody's going to admit it into Mensa anytime soon. It will direct its attacks primarily towards the Fa'e, not so much the Guardians. If you run, it will give chase.

You are permitted to play the opponent and to determine when (and if!) it drops, but remember not to godmod - it will take some kind of concerted effort to take the thing down. Don't expect to recieve high points if your Fa'e downs it in one hit before anyone else gets a chance, for example!
Ever since she and her guardian arrived on the 'new' planet called Gaia, Rebus, as well as her guardian, had been making new adjustments to everything; the climate was several degrees lower and the ground was hard. Prickly dead grass, even. Nothing like the silts and sands of Maneasa's soft deserts. Even the rocks of the planet would crumble beneath enough weight. There wern't any complaints from Rebus, no... Her body accepted the temperature change swiftly, even felt reliefe because of it. Her body actually gave off a figid air, like opening the door to the ol' ice box( which likely had given poor Iarla a hard time since they met up). Her guardian, Colt, not so much. The poor desert-dweller.

On the other hand, there were things that were not so pleasant. While she had been traveling to their destination, Airi, the strange creature of whom spoke of these ' Fa'e ', had been whisked away, right before the young chuchunaa incarnate's eyes! Where she had gone, Rebus really hadn't thought on it. Instead, her eyes were settled on the large, pink... D'jyaru? No, but it certainly looked like one! Only with a longer nose and bulky teeth protruding from its face. Rebus couldn't help but make a comparrison to her own teeth, curving up an inch or two from her bottom jaw.

Still new to this world, Rebus hadn't quite comprehended that the possessed toy was not a creature native to these lands. The only indication to how dangerous it was happened to have cost Airi... her life? Really, who knew if Airi was okay or not?

The chuchunaa flinched as Colt tugged upon one of her goat-like ears. "Get -back-!" He demanded. He knew her curiosity would distract her. Whatever that thing was, the group wanted no part in it. Rebus allowed him to urge her back for a moment. But she stopped, ignoring the irritation he presented for a moment. What about their travel companions?

As she parted her lips to call for them, her tongue froze, forgetting how to pronounce their names. English was easier to read then speak, but their names were neither English nor Ayréc, her first language. It didn't matter, they seemed a lot more focused then she was...

Despite efforts to be alert, Rebus did a whole lot of gawking at the scene! Brilliant child.
Iarla froze. His mind felt like it couldn't comprehend what he was seeing. The elephant -- that's what it was -- was still twisting in on itself, swelling in size, its stitched sides about to burst. "What the hell is that," he heard Kuraino whisper hoarsely behind him. Oh gods. Oh gods. Oh gods.

Its glass eyes ballooned outwards, growing faster than even the body at first. Iarla felt ill. The thing was already taking up the entire dirt path in front of them, and even though Airi had disappeared, Iarla could see her outline in the grass where the elephant's giant foot and seemingly crushed her body. This couldn't be happening. Elephants weren't even supposed to be pink.

"Get back, I'll fight it," Kuraino said, elbowing in front of him, but Iarla reached and grabbed her arm tightly, shoving her back behind him. "No," Iarla said quickly, "I don't even think it would wor--"

The elephant snorted, digging one of its trunk-like legs into the dirt as if it were readying to charge. There was a dangerous glint in its blank, black eyes. Oh gods. Iarla wasn't even paying attention to the others in the group anymore; he backed straight into Kuraino, who hissed in pain as he stepped onto her boot. Just as he was about to whisper a quick apology, the elephant threw back its enormous head. A deafening trumpet erupted from its trunk; the air felt like it was vibrating. The sound engulfed everything. Iarla shoved his hands over his ears, his knees buckling and crushing into the dirt.

"Iarla!"

So loud...so loud...

He was shaking. It was too loud. Too loud! And yet, he could still grasp the fact that Kuraino was behind him. Kuraino was in the path of the Thing.

The ground began to shake. Through Iarla's blurred, twisting vision -- still reeling from the sound -- he could see the elephant thundering towards them. Kuraino -- behind me --

He dropped one hand from one of his ears and shot his hand out in front of himself. He could only hope to distract it and then find a way to get Kuraino the hell away from here.

Istaxire blinked a few times, trying to absorb the sudden change. It had been plesant, and now it was like some twisted nightmare. Airi had been sat on, then vanished gods knows where, and now they were ditched in this unknown world.

Oh, just lovely. Absolutely bloody peachy! How the hell is a person supposed to get by like this?!

His confusion and disbelief was fading into a particular anger and irritation now. He wanted answers still, and to find out exactly what was up completely. And now this. Some pink, ugly as hell thing was interrupting.

"Istaxire..." Rex was stepping back slightly, unsure just what the thing was. It was vaguely reminiscent of somethign from home, but... different. And yet... it certainly was very threatening. And charging now.

"Oh, screw it," Istaxire growled. Here and now was no time to play games - not if he wanted to live, and not be sat on by some hideously pink girly animal-thing. He couldn't hide anything anymore.

"Everyone spread out, don't group!" he shouted. The only way it'd work si if they were seperated enough to keep it off balance. In a one on one fight one had to be ready to evade and dodge. The mroe people aaginst one thing, the easier it was. "Don't stand aroun gawking, either!" he hissed.

He may not know them, but the last thing he needed was everyone becoming pancakes under it. He didn't want to be the one cleaning up. Hopefully someone else could buy him a little time... enough to change into something, anything. "What the hell..."

Swift as wind, talons sharp, a hawk of course, to keep it occupied!

And with that, he began to shift, his form contorting and shrinking. He'd have a lot fo explaining to do later, but he wasn't going to become a flattened object on the ground. In fact, he was mad that Airi was gone. Just a little longer, please let someone else distract it...
"Everyone spread out, don't group!" The order rang in her drooped ears, causing them to perk up, nearly standing on end. "Don't stand aroun gawking, either!" His words seemed directed at her. Perhaps she had been staring...

"Papa, get back!" She called out, the accent on her tongue twisting the vowels just-so. Rebus had come-to and was now turning, using the powerful grip of her gorilla-like paws to grab the upper-arm of her guardian and practicly dragged him backwrds. The creature was charging, Iarla was hurting and Istaxire was barking orders, shrinking. Their guardians seemed bewildered, as well. But Colt needed to be handled, first. And upon her sprint, back down the path they had come, Colt was speaking in low, paniced tones into the ear of his daughter. The words were in their native language, so it was unknown what had told her.

Out of the way of the giant for the moment, she, rather violently, shoved her guardian to the ground behind a small boulder. It would at least, hopefully, serve to shield him from the beast's sight. She hoped he'd be safe there. And as the young fa'e began to pull away from him, his fingers intertwined with the long fur of her right forearm, stopping her only for a moment as they exchanged words. His fingertips felt like ice as they touched her... a temperature drop that drastic had never happened, before. But on his homeworld, Rebus had never been so frightened and rushed. The drop in her body temperature seemed a side-effect.

Colt was trying to hold her back but Rebus wouldn't have it. He could never see those eyes of hers beneath the thick locks of shaggy, pale hair, so he never knew what she might be thinking -- if at all -- and that scared him.

Despite him, she wanted to help. Iarla seemed to be in agony and Istaxire seemed to be... mutating? A truley bewildering sight. Again, she caught herself gawking. Good thing the chuchunaa hadn't been closer, a prime target she would have made. But instead, it looked like Iarla was the objective at the moment. His weakened state must have been crying out to be a target. If that creature made it to him...

Avoiding the direct line of sight, Rebus made her way back to the others, calling for Iarla to move. Calling his name, but whether her words reached him, it was unclear. Her pronunciation made a mockery of his name. The ground gave light vibration as her weight beat into the ground beneath her massive feet. She needed to get to him, and fast! What she would do once she did... she had no ideas.
Iarla stared at Istaxire's twisting body in abject horror, catching sight of him out of the corner of his eye. Had the elephant created some kind of curse on him?! The thought was like a bucket of ice water in Iarla's face. Dear gods. The elephant-Thing had the very serious intention of killing them.

And it was killing Istaxire. Right now.

Just as Rebus -- he remembered her name, it made him think of rubies like at home -- started shouting at him, Iarla shoved himself shakily off the ground and began conjuring small spheres of water between his hands. It's working, he realized. I can still use my magic here.

"Iarla! What the hell! You can't hurt it with that!" Kuraino was still yelling at him from behind, distracting him.

"Just run!" He began shooting the water at the elephant's huge, soulless eyes, hoping to blind it somehow. His globes of water exploded on the elephant's charging head, soaking its fabric and running off its face. It'll never hold it off, he thought despairingly. And Istaxire behind him somewhere dying on top of everything else; where the hell was Airi?

"Someone try and heal Istaxire!" he shouted pleadingly, conjuring more water and throwing the orbs at the elephant's face. It was reacting violently, curling its trunk and swinging its head from side to side, but it was still charging. Right at him.

He was aware of thgins going on, the yelling, the panic, the charging, yet helpless to truly act until it completed. In a flurry of feathers and a defiant screech of sheer joy he took to the air. To truly feel free to soar, and glide in the open, was a freedom he hadn't fully tasted. But now was no time for play and enjoyment.

Rex finally seemed ot snap out fo the daze he had fallen into, having witnessed the transformation. He hissed slowly under hsi breath, fully expecting an explaination after this. For now though, it wouldn't do. Although eh could fight - mostly magic based in this case - it wouldn't do to get directly involved yet - there were others who needed pulled away. He trusted Istaxire not to be stupid, and shouted at Kuraino. "This way!" he called, beckoning. Those who aren't as skilled, or can't fight need cover, then worry about helping then. They may be young, but they know their 'gifts' I hope. If Airi was right, loss of the guardian would kill them, and that means we need clear! He was running over, making sure that the other guardianw as going to move.

Istaxire meanwhile was circling, and then diving down, a brown streak of defiant rage. He could see Rex moving twards it and felt concern, panic almost. The hell is he doing?! With that he dove, latching onto an ear with sharp talons and ripping deep.

The beast stumbled slightly, confused by the sudden pain lacing in one ear and trumpted in anger, shaking it's head and trying to spot the source. Istaxire was nearly flung and tumbled int he air, fluttering and squaking as he recovered into half-glide and circled back. At least it was stopped a moment, glaring and stamping and circling, looking for a new target.

Damnit, I wish I could talk! he cursed to himself, still shaking the daze of being flung around like a rag doll. Hopefully they can buy Rex and the other time. Think Istaxire, think! What can we do to keep it occupied?
Cold dust kicked up into the air as Rebus skid to a stop, standing beside Iarla. The other boy... he'd turned into some kinda of bird. She could only imagine he knew what it was he was doing. But no matter, he was clear from the creature's path, no longer in direct danger. But even as she thought through this, the water-soaked monster was still headed for them! Iarla had done something she'd never seen anyone do. Both of them were amazing, gifted creatures in their own right. For that, they had her respect.

As the pink beast came ever closer, the chuchunaa could only tense, moving to stand with her back to the beast and her icy, clumsy hands encircled Iarla. She was attempting to embrace the other fa'e, a protective and motherly gesture. Her body could take a wild beating; she was a tank. But this boy didn't seem as though he could, and it had her worried.

Overhead, a brown creature dashed by, faintly buzzing the figures. As the other two guardians were seeking shelter and Rebus had set to guard the fellow fa'e, this new form of Istaxire was charging the enemy. His talons digging into the fabric and stuffing of its anatomy and pulling its attention away from herself and the swan. Her under-bitten jaw gaped at the sudden save and a brief grin stretched her lips. Istaxire hadn't been fleeing after all. He was seemingly more experienced at this combat thing then either of the other two lost children. But no time for idle thoughts!

The elephant distracted, Rebus tried once more to remove Iarla from the scene, as the cry of pain and anger the beast bellowed seemed to do a number on his sensitive ears. “Ko-Mon!” she beckoned, looking into the distance for some kind of cover. Some kind of weapon to use, perhaps... Then, her eyes lifted to Istaxire in the sky. “Where we go?! Ken you see, up there, where we go?! Need to 'ide!! Plece to 'ide!” Again, her accent and grammar took a small ax to the English language. The massive under-bite and small tusks she possessed didn't help the speech, either.

Hopefully Istaxire could hear and understand her. He could be their eyes... but if they were forced to fight, what could she do? Colt had to stay back. If he was hurt, she's never forgive herself; it had been her plea to go with Airi. If he was killed... she wouldn't be far behind. Oh, Papa, please trust me, please stay out of the monster's path...Please trust me. Trust us.
It was hard for Iarla to understand Rebus's speech. Granted he didn't even know anything but Nemesian himself -- it was thanks to a simple spell that he could understand anyone at all. He would have to thank a certain someone for that again later. Yet it still rendered Rebus's words as fairly incoherent. She seemed to be saying to run. "I don't think we can run!" Iarla said as loudly as he could, over the din over the elephant. It was stomping in furious circles after the hawk, plainly irate that it could not crush it.

It was then that it dawned on him. The elephant, sides bulging with fabric and thread -- it had seams, and those had to lead to the stuffing inside. Unless the plush toy exterior only went skin-deep. There was no way to know.

Iarla jammed his hand into the side of his boot, pulling out a small dagger which he flipped open. Standard procedure to have something sharp on you at all times if you were anyone important on Nemesis. "I have an idea," he said, looking at Rebus and eying her teeth -- or whatever they were, exactly, he wasn't sure. "We need to rip those seams; I mean, the thread on it, rip it open." He pointed at the taut stitches on the elephant's sickly pink rotund body. The elephant was thankfully blind to them while it was snorting and rearing in frustration at the hawk. Now was their chance.

Iarla made motions with his hands as if he were ripping a piece of paper in half. "If we can...tear it open -- the stuffing will probably come out. Maybe that would work." He was still trying to yell over the sounds of the elephant. Holding up his dagger, he motioned with it like he was going to cut something. She probably thinks I sound absurdly stupid, but I've got to be sure she gets what I'm saying! He forced a smile.

This is insane. This is absolutely insane. I can't believe I left home.

Planting his boot into the dirt, he began to move toward the elephant. His body was already screaming at him what a fool he was -- he didn't stand a chance against something like this. No doubt the thread was like a rope with the thing so big. If Kuraino wasn't here, I'd just try to get away. I can't let her get hurt. She's my sister! Even though she'll kill me if this thing flattens me....

"Iarla you idiot! What the hell were you thinking!"

I don't know, sis, I don't know. But I've got to do SOMETHING.

He was already closer to it, and by now the elephant was taking notice. Iarla's grip on the dagger tightened, his fingers nearly going numb with it. Gods he was going to die -- but not before he ripped at least one seam open.

The elephant turned its large head. Iarla could have sworn it almost smirked at him. He swallowed hard, forcing his knees not to buckle into the ground.

Yes. He was going to die, and it would be a giant stuffed animal that killed him. Why did I leave home?

Istaxire was listening as best as possible over the noise of an irate pink thing, while trying to keep it occupied - oh, wait, it wasn't following him again. Shoot.

He circled a moment, slightly disappointed to have lost it. It was rather fun taunting it, to say the least. Seams? He swooped a bit closer a moment and noticed them. Oh, huh. It IS stitched. I suppose like ol' Fluffs. Before... yeah. I suppose what happened to Fluffs can happen here, huh?

If a hawk could have a devious grin, it would have, as he flexed his talons. Fine, I'll teach you to stop paying attention to me! Never take your eyes off the small one! He dove, aiming for a stitching near the neck and latched on with botch sets of talons, working one foot into the stiches while holding on desperately with the other side.

The beast took a moment to realize somethign was on it, attacking, and shook violently, trying to disattach the thing tormenting it's neck as Istaxire held on and flattened, using claws and beak to pick at the thread.

Oh by the Gods, please... please let them be able to do something before this thign figures out how to get me. Or flings me into a tree or something. Why the hell did I think this was a good idea again?! And I thought this was supposed to be SAFE?!

Rex was watching, admiring the fact that they were working together, figuring thgins out. And Istaxire seemed to be holding his own in his own way. Even if he was risking a lot doing what he was doing... but that wasn't too surprising - in his own youth he'd been equally as chance taking. "Seems they've got a plan after all." He grinned slightly, watching. Wary and ready if things went bad to do what was needed. If it meant pulling one out, so be it.
What the Hell was Iarla going on about? Stuffing? These monsters were made with... “stuffing”? What was stuffing?! Maneasa didn't have plushies and stuffed animals... This would be Rebus' first encounter with a stuffed toy. What a trip.

“Wat?!” She didn't understand his meaning until he swiped open his blade. Instinctively, she flinched back. Rebus didn't like crafted weapons. A fear she was born with but never understood. It sent an unreasonable and unexplainable reverence through her body. But only for an instance did it paralyze her. He took off running towards the beast; most definitely not the direction she had implied when she had strongly suggested he run. Then the hawk came after the beast, too. Once more, Rebus found herself a little alienated and perplexed. Only upon observation did she realize what he had meant by ' seams '. ( Her vocabulary had misinterpreted the word...)

Not long after the other's attack on the beast, she leaned forward and took off after them, large, strong fingers spread. Rebus hoisted herself up with her muscular legs and reached out, long arms flaying over her head. And, she missed. “Umf!” Then again!

“Umf!” Uh. Rebus was not in the running for the next Olympic jumper. Her weight really played a part in her agility. True, she was more agile then your average person, it didn't stop her from not being able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. From behind the small boulder, Colt groaned, placing his face into his palm. He had seen this coming five miles away. Girl could not jump.

Finally, she grew frustrated enough and--while the elephant was distracted with Iarla and Istaxire, her clumsy attempts had gone unnoticed--violently swung a leg out and rammed it into the back of the left front knee, her unbridled strength causing it to buckle! That was all she needed, those few inches it stumbled was enough for her to leap up again and this time, grip onto the stitching of the left shoulder. Success!!

Over to those strong tusks, Rebus pulled herself up and bit with much fervor into the thick cords binding the 'skin' of the monster together. Once those jaws had a good hold, they literally locked shut and she began to yank and pull, much like a Siberian husky pup unleashed on your favorite shoes. Despite the immediate threat of being slammed into something, shaken off, yanked off or scraped off, Rebus was having a bit of delight in the chewing and, well, overall destruction of the material.
Kuraino snorted, glancing at Rex. "Just because they have a plan doesn't mean it's a good one," she said, her eyes darting back to Iarla as he began to inch forward towards the elephant. This was so far from a good idea that Kuraino had to resist the urge to start shouting at him from afar again to get the hell out of there.

The dog-girl -- Kuraino wasn't really sure what she was -- looked like she might stand a hit or two. And the other kid was already a hawk, which was impressive considering this wasn't Nemesis and it was probably unlikely every other person had the power to shape-shift.

Doesn't matter. Iarla is going to get swatted...if he's not careful...and what if he does? What if he loses it and transforms again? ********]

She bit her lip, starting to wring her gloved hands out of frustration. This was so stupid. She could kill it right now and save them all the trouble. Or could she? There's no reason my magic wouldn't work here. And yet, it didn't feel like her fight. It felt like their fight. Iarla's fight. Was this some kind of cracked-out test to see if they were strong enough?

Shoving her silver hair back from her face, she screwed up her eyes to keep Iarla in sight properly. Gods if he wasn't careful...

Even though he couldn't hear her thoughts, he was thinking the exact same words. This was Not Good. He shoved another boot forward, trying to will himself to be invisible. As he got closer, the sheer hight of the mutated toy was even worse. It wasn't just huge, it was enormous. And it looked very, very angry.

Iarla froze, a hot, prickling sensation starting in the back of his neck. It felt like very tiny needles pressing into his skin without quite going in. Oh crap...no. Quickly he grabbed he started to try and undo the high collar of his jacket, his face starting to break out into a sweat. His shaking fingers fumbled with the tiny clasped hook. Crap. Crap.

The elephant could see him now, was even starting towards him slowly, he could see the blurred image of its feet out of the corner of his eye. But he couldn't move. He had to -- breathe. Calm down. Crap how am I supposed to calm down when it's coming at me right now. He started to yank on the collar, finally ripping it open, hoping it would somehow take the edge off of the building heat. The large feet -- coming. Thumping slowly toward him, even as they stopped to focus on the bird trying to rip open its bulbous head.

Iarla clenched his hand around his dagger, trying to keep a hold of it even as his hands became sweaty. He stared up at the Thing. It was pretty close -- and then, a tawny blur came out of nowhere and started to try and gnaw it to death. Rebus.

"The seams!" Iarla yelled, seeing her ignore them at first. The adrenaline started pumping, and he broke into a run at the closest trunk-like leg. He couldn't even see the top of it without looking up. Gods.

He flung himself at it, holding the dagger out, sinking it straight into the elephant's -- fabric? It didn't have much of a hide. He started hacking at it without thinking twice. Rip out the stuffing! Kill this thing and get out of here!

It stumbled. Iarla kept at it, even as Rebus scaled the thing's head and seemed to go for whatever brain was in there -- with the hawk appearing to do the same. And then, Iarla turned his head. It was just in time to see the elephant's trunk come rushing at him, a huge wall of pink, and there was a WHUMP, and the world going upside-down and spinning for a bit -- until he crashed in the grass somewhere, face-down in the dirt. His eyes fluttered open. Oh hell, it hit me, he thought groggily. The wind was knocked out of him. It was a little like getting hit by a mattress going a hundred miles an hour. Fortunately there were none of those back home. Too bad there were here.

His head was pounding. He began to think that Airi was, in fact, orchestrating all of this. And maybe the others too. Not Kuraino, but the rest of them. Gods. Who even cared. He dug his fingers into his eyes, rubbing them hard. Crap.

Istaxire had made a nice holewhen his head popped up from it's task to survey. Hadn't been good timing at all, as he saw it swing, striking one of the others and sending them flying. Oh, crap.

He shrieked, taking wing and circled, then dove, looking for life signs. Once assured they were at least alive, his avian eyes refixed on the beast. You did not come here to interrupt my life further, and try to kill people. You had no right interfering with me, let alone anyone else. And how dare you haev the balls to do something like this? I don't care who's fault you are, I want you gone, here and NOW!

He knew the hawk was taking too much time to get things done. He needed larger, especially if it was going to come over here, were ... Iarla? Was that their name? He was running on adrenaline and fiery anger. Fire...

He landed, running through his head. Certainly, he couldn't think of any animals sporting fire now. This is a bad, bad time to have not paid more attention in some of my classes. I really should have, but I never figured I'd be becoming those things, either. Damnit damnit damnit, Istaxire, that thing wants you dead. You're no brute, if it hits you, you're going flying too, and it's going to hurt MORE then your last clocking.

Fire however... could he cast changed? It took focus... yes. Could he fly and do it? Sitting was no good, and trying to change to anything else involved risks. Wait... fire... He whirled quickly, and spied a tree, almost leafless and barren. He still had his lighter - he'd have to go back to normal... but he could light something. If he couldn't get his magic focused enough, he could always rely on that. He'd kept the lighter in case he needed a conduit and focus for the magic, but he never thought it'd pay off otherwise.

Now, if he could shift without getting trampled or sat on, it might be a good day after all. Much as he wasn't listening to his own advice on spacing out, he'd rather be the more tempting target then let the other take more just yet. Rex taught him better then that, and this one had made good effort on that leg.

He began shifting back, hoping like hell this was just... going to work. Once he had the lighter, he'd have to work on fuel from there. Magic, otherwise... right now... returning to normal was first. Come on, Istaxire, you didn't come here to die ... and especially not to something that ugly.

Rex winced at the scene, hissing under his breath. He tensed, crouching and preparing to run. Istaxire and the other - Iarla - they were there, on the ground. Istaxire was changing again... the other clinging madly onto the beast. As the monster was moving, watching, twisting, some fo the stuffing was already popping out slighrtly from the effort. They were progressing slowly, and it was like a bad dream almost to see it happening.
The sounds that creature made rolled over her cold body like thunder. At times, it would be deafening, numbing to those floppy ears of hers. For moments at a time, she would become disoriented; only for this reason did she not realize Iarla's received blow. The chuchunaa had really gotten into the pleasure of the tearing and gnashing of her teeth and tusks. The fabric was fraying and the stitching was receding back. The smaller bits of thread, anyone's guess where it was all going, though it was a safe bet Rebus had been swallowing it...

In fact, she seemed to have possibly gone into a trance, her actions so focused on the task at hand: Destroy. But the rough movements of the elephant had continued to keep her mind in the present each time it dared to sink into a feral state of rage.

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP!!

One strong jerk of her head, she took a long strip of monsterized fabric from the shoulder and partly down the forearm. Stuffing exploded from the gap, catching Rebus off-guard. THAT was stuffing? THIS is what the creature contained?! She visibly jerked her head back, finally releasing the material from her powerful jaws. What manner of creature existed without meat and bones and blood...?? This was some kind of... what WAS this?! A little unsettled, she turned her head to Iarla to get some sort of clue.

This was when she noticed her companion had been thrown. The fur around her neck and shoulders-- layered along her body liker a feather boa-- stood on end. She was angry and growing more-so by the moment. Once she spotted him on the ground some distance away, she tried to examine his condition. The distance made this nearly impossible. No worries, the elephant was traveling closer to the boy's body, thus, bringing her closer as well. Her heart was racing ever faster and the icy blood in her veins coursed roughly in her heat of climbing fury. “YEAR-LAH!” Oh, the elegant mangling of his name... That, or she had forgotten his name. Both were possible.

Again, she called out to him, hoping for a conscience answer. “YEAR-LAH!!” The longer she stared, the heavier her chest heaved. Rebus' fists clenched onto the already tight grip on the body of the pink brute. Her toes spread and her muscles tensed all over her body. She kicked up both legs and planted them into the flank of the elephant and hoisted her body farther up onto the back. This gave her a better hold and a better footing. She dangled less from the side of it.

Her guardian had been watching in shock. Rebus had never acted anything but docile and wanting affection from those around here. But here he saw another side. Every lapdog had a set of teeth. Every lapdog knew how to use the teeth. But most never did until cornered. He never believed she would bear her teeth. Or, he had hoped she never would.

Colt didn't want to take his eyes off of her for good reason. Iarla was just thrown like a rag doll. His hyena-like upper body slinked out from behind the boulder, little by little. He was edging towards the fallen fa'e in cautious concern. He may have needed serious attention! Colt was no doctor, especially to a foreign species, nor was he a warrior. However, he was a swift learner. Anything he could do for Iarla could tip the scales of the fight. “Hey, kid...” His English was a great deal better than Rebus'. He slowly reached out to the body, counting on Rebus, now, to keep the monster from nearing Colt and the injured.

She was doing her best, but there was only so much she could do. She'd torn a hole into the body as directed and stuffing was falling out, littering the ground, but it wouldn't be enough to hinder the creature enough, permanently. To the sky, Rebus again turned for help from Istaxire. She didn't see him, though, and didn't understand his morphing ability or if he had been hiding his true form from them since the beginning, but she felt she could trust him. She was just like that; trusting. Always looking for the good in others. “EE-STeCKS'IRE!” Another unfortunate victim of her speech, she continued, “Pulling insides to outsides, ah?!” Still, she didn't see him. “Where go?!” She searched the scene for him from atop her post high up the elephant's flank. An elephant trying hard to get rid of her. Throw her. Her grip was loosening, but she wasn't sure she'd be any safer letting go and falling to the ground. Airi had been a prime example of this.

The beast had grown tired of her presence and tearing at its side; it slowed the charge to Iarla and reared, throwing the chuchunaa off balance and swung at the air with a mighty trunk. It wanted Rebus off, now! But what did her in was the angle it turned its body, swinging the trunk around and knocking her lose with it. But it didn't end there. She merely grunted a protest as the trunk coiled her body and ripped her from its side. Really, it was only a matter of time before it figured out the reach of its own appendage.

Once coiled within its grasp, she was thrust into the hard ground onto her back, then pressed down, held there by the 'muscle' behind the trunk. A few select words in her native tongue escaped that awkward set of jaws of hers. Though she didn't seem to be hurt, there was most definitely pain shooting to her brain. If Colt took care of Iarla, then maybe Istaxire was still free to lend her a hand. This was certainly uncomfortable...
