1. No stealing the art or the concept. No, I didn't create Redwall - that's Brian Jacques - but I did come up with this shop and how to USE Brian Jacques' work. The artists work hard for the art too.

2. Please do not send in custom forms unless you win one, are told to by staff, or have bribed to get one. Doing so will get you greylisted.

3. If there are no slots open, there's no slots open. I don't want myself or my artists to be overwhelmed. Please respect that.

4. You may never sell your character. If you no longer want it, feel free to hand it over to the shop for either 'rehoming' to find a new RPer for said character or to NPC. Or, hell, kill them off. I don't care - just don't sell them.

5. Be respectful to everyone in the thread. They have a right to be here, just as you do.

6. Please do not PM staff about shop issues. PM the mule if you have questions or concerns. One of us will get back you ASAP.

7. Be patient when waiting for art. It will happen. In the mean time, RP. Have fun. >.> You know what fun is, don't you?

8. Rules are subject to change.

Role Play Rules

1. Keep ALL OOC CONVERSATIONS in these nifty little bubbles (( )) failure to do so...will make people upset at you. Of course, this applies to RP threads only but I'd like to keep my bases covered.

2. Please read back a page or two if you're going to jump into an RP that's already taking place. It's only polite to actually know what's going on, and if you'd even be welcome to join the particular plot that's going on. Use good judgement on this.

3. No god moding. Yeah, it's nice to have powers and be immortal and be the all "Holier Than Thou" god with a pitchfork poking at things and killing them instantly. Unfortunately, not only is it unrealistic, it's quite annoying to others. So just don't do it. I will give you a warning if I hear about it. (Not to mention these are woodlanders with no magic powers...)

4. No fan characters. I don't want 'unofficial' cosplays - I.E. Creatures acting like Sephiroth or Naruto. I also don't want any characters from the books actually cropping up, either. This takes place -after- their time and to have them appear (unless it's as a ghost or something) would throw off the entire setting. Don't do it.

5.Try to use good grammar when writing or role-playing. I can understand a few mistakes but don't go over board.

6. If you need leave the role-play for any reason, please tell them you are doing so. It's only polite n.n

The shop will be taking place all over the world of Redwall - from Sampetra to Redwall Abbey itself.

Roleplay/Plotline

Redwall Abbey is the refuge of many of the "good" forest animals in Mossflower.

The abbey basically follows the rules of a normal monastery except that it is occupied by animals and that no actual religion is practiced.

The inhabitants are peaceful but frequently must go to war when their beloved abbey is in harm. Redwall Abbey, though often under attack, is never conquered. The abbey is known to hold the unbreakable sword of Martin the Warrior. (Ahem - there WILL be wars in this plotline 8D And characters may very well die. But never without consent unless I specifically create a scene where it's "AT YOUR OWN RISK YOU COULD DIE HAHAHA"...just a warning)

There will likely be a LOT of IC celebrations. After all, the Abbeybeasts are cheerful folk and always look for an excuse to have a feast. The changing of the seasons is always a great occasion for celebration. It is frequently marked with a "Nameday" party when the new season is given an official name for the Recorder's books, based on its weather, plants, unusual events, or other characteristic happenings. Examples of season names found in existing Redwall books include the Summer of the Lazy Trout (Salamandastron), the Summer of the Talking Squirrel (Redwall, marking the season when a particularly quiet young one was heard to speak for the first time), the Summer of Friendship (The Taggerung), and the Winter of Deepest Snow (The Long Patrol). In addition, separate seasons have their own traditions suited to the weather and mood of the time of year, such as the midsummer race in "The Taggerung", the Snow Badger tale told to Dibbuns, or the apparently formulaic greeting "Summer's here, joy and happiness to all" in "Triss". In "Mattimeo" it is also suggested that "seasondays", possibly similar to human "birthdays" are celebrated, but this has yet to be described in detail.

Possibly the closest tradition to human religion in Redwall is the habit of saying a Grace poem before an important feast. However, this is not directed at any deity or supernatural entity, but is a simple expression of gratitude for the bounty of the seasons and the shelter of the Redwallers' home, and can range from a respectful piety ("Fruit of forest, fields and banks, To the seasons we give thanks" -- Mattimeo) to a somewhat blunt statement of fact ("Thanks to the seasons and jolly good luck we all have a sword and a head, and the way we'll tuck into these vittles will show that we're living, not dead"-- The Long Patrol).

Celebration feasts themselves are always elaborate and joyful affairs, involving at least a day's work in the kitchens. The main focus generally appears to be on desserts, with fantastic creations appearing as the centrepiece to an already crowded table, though no Redwall feast would be complete without a plate of deeper-than-ever pie (for moles) and a big pot of watershrimp and hotroot soup (for otters). Salads, cheeses and trifles are also frequent contributions. As well as the food and drink, there is often entertainment in the form of humorous monologues, poetry and song. Visiting creatures are invited to show off their party pieces, whatever form they may take.

In contrast to the complicated preparations for Namedays and other celebrations, the choosing of a new Abbey leader often comes as a surprise to those around them. There appears to be no set age or qualification for an Abbot or Abbess (although Redwall ages are quite hard to pin down, many leaders have been chosen while apparently still the equivalent of human teenagers) and the final choice is almost always the decision either of the previous occupant of that position, or of some "paw of fate" like a dream of Martin the Warrior. Naturally, there is no reason why the choice of a new Abbot or Abbess should not be followed by yet another feast!

>_> So yes, feasts will happen a lot.

Aaaanyway. Mostly, it's day to day life and adventures of the Abbey. There WILL be a war (As I've stated) and there WILL be plot twists and adventures. Basically? A "Write Your Own Redwall Novel" where you get to be the characters and choose your own adventures with the help of many other people.

Yep, Yep, Wot Wot. Still taking suggestions and everything.

Mice: The most common Abbeybeasts! (The Abbey Hero will also be of the mouseish species 8D)

Otters: Water-loving creatures, typically living near rivers, or, in the case of sea otters, near the ocean. They are skilled and aggressive fighters, favoring slings and javelins, and they are good sailors. They are also noted for liking spicy foods, particularly their favorite dish shrimp and hotroot soup. Otters at or near Redwall are led by the Skipper of Otters, while otters living at Green Isle are ruled by the High Rhulain.

Squirrels: Adept climbers and are noted for their speed and dexterity. They are typically expert archers. In the book Mossflower, the squirrels are led by Lady Amber, an expert archer and tree-climber. However in Martin the Warrior the gaw tribe are very primitive, savage, and barbaric and use only flint axes and wooden javelins as weapons.

Shrews: The smallest of the woodlanders, but are fierce warriors, fighting with small rapiers. Shrews have their own armed force structure called the Guosim (Guerilla Union of Shrews in Mossflower), or Guosssom in the book Salamandastron or Guoraf in Loamhedge. The shrews live outside the walls of Redwall in the forest and are allied to the Abbey, retaining a strict hierarchy and generally appearing as akin to human guerrillas. In most books, the Shrews are led by one shrew who is given the title Log-a-Log, which may or may not be followed by the shrew's first name. Also the shrews often posess a black pebble/stone that they use to keep peace. Only the person holding the stone can talk.

Moles: Digging creatures who prefer to stay close to the ground (as opposed to in the trees or on the ramparts of Redwall Abbey). In battles, they often provide combat engineering support by undermining enemy building foundations or making useful tunnels. They are also noted for their love of deeper'n'ever turnip'n'tater'n'beetroot pie. They speak in a rural accent with rare exceptions. Moles are usually simple-minded and are known for their "mole logic", which is usually stating the obvious or looking at a problem in a simpleminded way. This logic is surprisingly effective. For the most part, moles are less academically educated but more skilled craftsmen than other animals.

Hedgehogs: The least defined of the good creatures in the Redwall series. Some are strong fighters, whereas others are herbalists and artisans. Hedgehogs seem to be a mostly tribal race in Redwall, characters outside of the abbey are almost exclusively members of some type of tribe, with groups such as the Dillypins and Dunehogs, or the Migooch tribe. Redwall's brew master is generally a hedgehog. (OURS will be. Though if you could convince us with a Hare character, I'd totally kiss your feet simply because there WAS one Cellarhare in the books 8D...BASIL I think...but I can't remember)

Voles: Mostly good creatures with the exception of Dwrup the bankvole in Martin the Warrior. They are somewhat clannish, cowardly and argumenative. However, they are wise and will support fellow Redwallers in times of war. They look similar to a mouse but have a shorter, wider and more blunt snout and are darker in color.

Rare Abbeybeasts:

Sparrows: Rudimentary air force that nest on the roof of the Abbey. Call themselves the "Sparra" and have a very odd way of talking. Queen/King to be RP required and we'll be careful in who we give it to simply because so much can be done with such a rare thing ^^

Raccoons: Play the same roll as foxes, but not nessesarely evil. Guaxinim in Barklad seemed evil, but an adder hypnotized him and ruled a vermin hoard through him. Raccoons support the Redwall abbey, but usually aren't a part of it. Guaxinim and Rotano also helped build the abbey, and actually lived in it for about three years.

Hares: Generally good-natured and talkative creatures, and are known for their ability to eat large quantities of food in a single sitting, as well as their upper class accents. They are also some of the best trained warriors among the good creatures, and many of them live at Salamandastron. Take offense to being called rabbits.

Badgers: The least numerous of the regularly appearing good creatures, with each book typically only having one or two badger characters, usually either the Badger Lord of Salamandastron (almost always male) or the Badger Mother of Redwall Abbey. The badgers are huge compared to the other creatures, and accordingly can defeat much larger numbers in battle, especially when they are overcome by the Bloodwrath, a berserk condition in which they are completely focused on the battle and fight with unrivaled ferocity

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Rats: The main foot soldiers in the Redwall series and usually the most 'dispensable' as they make up the majority of most vermin hordes. Most rats have similar character traits, but there is a large difference between searats and the average rats on land.

**Henchrats: These rats are basically the main body of vermin hordes on land. They are usually bullies, aggressive yet cowardly. They are often guards of an evil warlord's fortress or the foot soldiers of a wandering horde. Hate and fear are their main reasons for fighting as they have no courage or true loyalty. They are also seldom skillful and a large number of them often fall to a single skilled warrior (hero or villain). Some notable groups of henchrats are the Ratguards from Triss and the Blackrobes from Mattimeo.

**Searats: These rats are both strong and fearless, the pirates of the seas surrounding Mossflower. They are most notable in Mariel of Redwall, and in later books, the searats become part of a larger seafaring group classified as corsairs, which all have similar characteristics of ruthlessness and gluttony. The only rat warlords from the novels are searats

Stoats, Ferrets & Weasels: They are usually larger than rats. They can lead their own hordes, as in Martin the Warrior. Weasels are overconfident windbags and loudmouths, ferrets are shifty, and stoats are greedy and lazy but are just as crafty as foxes. They are greedy like rats. These villain's individual traits are the most varied, from Killconey's readiness in Redwall, to Halftail, the bullying slaver from Mattimeo.

Lizards: Evildoers. Rather than affiliating themselves with a vermin horde, they generally operate as thieves and bandits. Whiptail, from Mossflower, practiced extortion. A tribe of lizards from Martin the Warrior were unable to speak, but practiced cannibalism. Evil, see?

Toads: Toads play a similar role to lizards in the series. Functioning as a primitive tribal society, they are hostile to mammals and not above cannibalism.

Rare Villains:

Foxes: Foxes are sly and seldom have loyalty to anyone besides themselves. Unlike most vermin, male foxes are the exclusive fighters, as the vixens are seers. There are some exceptions to this idea in Marlfox and Rakkety Tam because the foxes and their mates go into war together.

* Foxes (male): Male foxes are sly and stubborn. They are also infamously proud. These foxes seldom remain in a horde for the duration of a story without rebelling. Some foxes are betrayers and instigators such as Skalrag (Martin the Warrior) and Rasconza (The Pearls of Lutra). The Marlfoxes from Marlfox fight each other off as well as their adversaries, and Chickenhound and his mother betray both Cluny and Redwall in Redwall. In Mattimeo, Slagar the Cruel, who is Chickenhound's adult persona, is the leader of a band of slavers, and likewise, Plugg Firetail is the proud leader of a crew of corsairs in Triss. However, even evil foxes are not all bad. Chickenhound, for example, suffered momentary pangs of guilt after killing Brother Methuselah in Redwall. However, he takes advantage of this distraction to gain a headstart. On his way, he is attacked by Asemodous Poisonteeth, and only narrowly escapes. In the process, he is horribly disfigured, and as an adult, becomes the Slagar we know and hate.
* Vixens (seers): Vixens are seers, responsible for the prediction of future events. Some are phony, such as Sela, the healer from Redwall, while others are unnaturally loyal, such as Nightshade in Outcast of Redwall. It is in Outcast and The Taggerung that vixen seers are the most prominent. Nightshade uses her magic to help Swartt Sixclaw, and Grissoul in the latter calls upon Vulpuz, an evil spirit, to foretell the future of her tribe. All vixens are deceitful, loyal or not, especially in the case of the vixen in Marlfox, who stated: 'Never trust a Vixen'.

Snakes: Snakes are giants in Redwall who attack the woodlanders. Only Adders, such as Asmodeus, have the power to hypnotize. There are, however, mimics, such as Deathcoil the grass snake who disguised himself as an adder. Asmodeus is the evil monster in Redwall who steals the Sword of Martin and feeds off unfortunate rats, dead or alive, during the war. There is a three-headed serpent in Triss (the result of three snakes caught simultaneously in a ring) who eerily hunts the treasure-seekers; each 'head' is a different snake, ruled by Zassalass, the oldest of the three.

Hybrids (Wearats): Taking features from both Weasels and Ferrets. You choose what exactly they take. These will be rare - and there WILL be a slave master 8D Because it shakes things up.

Crows, Magpies, Rooks: They are greedy and dangerous. Each of these birds attacks Redwall under the command of a General. Live in the Pine Grove.

Wolverines: Huge, savage beasts about the size and build of a badger. They come from the northern lands and are cannibals who eat all their dead.

Note:

There are instances in the book where there are 'reformed' villains. This is an option in this shop - However, it will be an option for massive bribes or RP contests only. Given at staff's discretion - be prepared to be turned down unless we really like your concept or feel it fits. IF it doesn't fit, and we like the concept, you'll likely get rejected as well.

Characters are guaranteed three pieces of art if they RP unless otherwise stated in contests. However, these characters (Unless you're getting a Dibbun which is explained later!) do not have stages. That's correct - Characters do not have stages.

After certain periods of time or major changes take place, a character will get new art (you MAY request when this happens, but you are not guaranteed an approval!). Or the artist could randomly redraw active characters to reflect RP. If you RP a lot, chances are, artists are going to notice you, think "HOLY GOD THATS COOL" and draw you another piece of art if they can. You can get more than three pieces of art if you RP. Again: RPing is conductive to getting art.

If you don't RP, the chances of you getting new art is pretty much nil so you WILL only get one piece. So if you don't plan on RPing your character, you're basically going to get one piece of art as a pretty sig pet.

Dibbuns

Dibbuns are THE exception to the rule. Dibbuns will start as toddlers (unless they're 2nd Gen XD That's described later too), grow to child, and then onto adult. These are done at artist's discretion though, as above, you can make REQUESTS. These requests can be denied, though.

Second Gen Dibbuns

These are the only characters that are guaranteed FOUR pieces of art. Infant (Which is the shortest), Toddler, Child and Adult.

Second Gen can be kept as secondary characters for the couple breeding or can be given away to newcomers. It is preferred to be given away to newcomers, though.

The stipulation with giving it away, however, is the new comer will be part of a family RP and will be largely influenced by this. For example: You want your little mousebabe to grow up and be evil and join the vermin!

Great. Only problem is your mousebabe's family is sweet as pie and always showers with love. Your little mousebabe going evil? Sorry, not going to happen.

Thus, you'll have to get another character for your plotpoint of going evil and running away with the vermin to come to be and make sense.

Breeding will be strictly within species and strictly as adults. Guaranteed couple art + babies become dibbuns and can either stay with parents or be given away.

Couples can have no more than three babies in a lifetime. Litters (or lack thereof) are relative to the species and artist's discretion. Just because you have a mouse does not mean that you'll get more than one baby out of a breeding.

The only exception to the "Within Species" rule is Ferrets & Weasels which can, according to the books, create a Wearet.

Are these characters RP required?

No! They're absolutely not unless you have one of the important characters (Aka - one of the majors around Redwall or a general in the vermin army or something). However, if you don't RP, you're only going to get one picture. After all, with no RP, how does your character grow?

Oh! I CAN Rp then?

It's highly encouraged for you to RP =)

Can I have one?

Sure! Wait for an event, custom slots or you can try to bribe us. We won't bite!...Okay, well, Tae doesn't count.

I Mean, can I have one for free?

Prooobably not. Sorry.

If I don't have one, am I welcome to talk on this thread/join guild?

Absolutely!

Can I buy one for another person?

As long as they want one and will hang around and talk with us? Oui, oui! However, if it's a flatsale or a writing contest, no. Those characters are for RP and YOUR ability.

Co-owning okay?

No...I'm sorry. It gets sticky if two people play the same character.

How does naming work?

Well, characters for certain will not have any cultural names such as Japanese or African etc. If you're unsure, make UP a name. Typing random letters together and rearranging and taking/adding them in is a good way to do it. Or use latin! If you're vermin, generally they have names like Darktail or some other silly name. If you need ideas, feel free to ask! (Please just don't name your girl Sakura or something O_< wink

DO THEY HAVE MAGIC?

...No. They don't. Sorry D: Well, unless you're talking about Vixens who are seers...But that's about it, I think.

I have a question but it's not on here!

Feel free to ask! To make sure your question is seen, feel free to PM the mule.

Reeshie Hack: Chittering like a dibbun squirrel and pretending to get things done.

Keppit: Drawing like a mad beastie... open for pretty much everything.

Amy D: Swimming in coffee and loving every minute of it x3 And drawing of course...at the same time! Multi-task ftw!
