Hey, everyone! We've decided to go on a hiatus with Oaxu. The guild is still open for role play and even the thread is still open.

Of course, all pets and concepts are still copyright to us, but as rehiring failed we've decided to go on hiatus, probably for a long, long time.

People can still hang around and role play their pets of course, but there is going to be no more pet production or events.

Thanks, everyone!

- Kayakurai & Kurama no Koishi

Oaxu.
Are you dark, or are you light?
It's up to you to decide.
The future of Oaxu may depend on your decisions in life...

Welcome to Oaxu!

Oaxu. A B/C shop of Gaia. What was once a small interest thread, with only a few ideas and with interest from no one is now a shop filled with happy and dedicated crew working together to bring you, at long last, this thread.

What is Oaxu? A world of fantasy, not your typical mythical place, with races of original creation. A world that will soon fall to pieces if Dark and Light cannot learn that there is more to life than discrimination and hate.

It could be you that helps to bring peace to Oaxu. Or you could just as easily tear it apart. It's your choice.

To avoid having to send out mass PMs to notify everybody about different updates, we'll be keeping them all here.

However, for really important updates, such as events happening or customs being opened, you can always ask to be added to the mailing list! Or rather, request to be the mule's friend, so whenever there is an event or something else of great importance happening at Oaxu, we can simply send out a mass PM to the mule's friend list.

Rules are very important to us here in Oaxu. We ask that everyone please follow the rules. Read them, and then make sure not to break any. Breaking rules on a regular basis is going to get you the boot.

User Image

General Rules of Oaxu

o1 - Gaia ToS must be followed at all times. Under no circumstances may any of these rules be broken. This especially means following the PG-13 rule. This thread is no different from the other threads in Gaia, meaning we must follow all rules.

o2 - In this shop, crew is God. What we say goes, and there is no arguing over it. We're in charge, that's final. If there is a disagreement, you can talk to a crew member about it, if you feel there is unfair treatment or something of the sort, but if you're just upset about not getting your way, s'too bad. But we're cool anyways. ;D

o3 - If you don't post at least once or twice every two weeks in the thread and don't do anything RP- or journal-wise, you give us ground to assume you've lost interest in the shop and your pet. Role play and use of journals is not mandatory anymore, but instead highly, highly encouraged. Make sure to inform us if you plan to leave for a little while or we will assume otherwise and might take your pet!

o4 - There will be no complaining if you do not win a character in an event you enter for. All judging is 100% fair by chosen judges when it comes to flatsales, and if you are not chosen, you lost, and someone else won fairly. For things such as auctions or raffles or other events, those too are all 100% fair, and you should have no reason to complain over them.

o5 - This is to be kept a clean shop. There will be no harsh profanity, fighting, flaming, etc. If there is an argument, please settle it amongst yourselves in another place such as PM's, so as not to cause any arguments in the thread. If you wish to bring up a complaint about the shop, please PM a crew member, so arguments don't come up about it. Please try and display some maturity.

o6 - No stealing! If we see any of the art, graphics, or concepts that are copyright to this shop being paraded around as someone else's work, you will be reported. All concepts for the Oaxu shop are copyright the members of the shop. We created them of our own imagination and any likeness to other concepts is completely coincidental.

o7 - Never beg. If you want a character, you will get one in the proper manner: Via flatsale, auction, raffle, custom, or another sort of event. Begging will only dock you good status points in this shop. And hinting around trying to make us feel guilty enough to give you one is also a bad thing. Please, do not beg for characters. Nor art, gold, items, etc.

o8 - No refunds, sorry. If you purchase a character and decide later that you don't want it, that's too bad, most likely the money's already been sent off to the artists who created your character. We won't take it back from them.

o9 - No co-owning. Again, sorry, but we're just not going to do that here. What happens when one owner disapears and because of prior agreement, the other can't post for whatever reason? We'll stick to one owner per character, please.

1o - Rules are subject to change at any time.

User Image

Rules for Acquiring Characters

o1 - All payment will be sent to the Oaxu mule. From there the money will be sent to the artists. But all you, as an owner, need to worry about, is sending money and items that you owe as payment, on time, to the mule.

o2 - Flatsales are role play based, mostly. They are also based on how much the judges think you deserve them. If you come off as a rude, selfish person that probably won't even use the characters, even if your role playing is fantastic, you will more than likely turned down. If you are unable to even spell the word "you" properly and resort to chat speak and the like, again, most likely someone else will win. Again. Role Play based, and how well you deserve them.

o3 - You must have all the money or items you bid in auctions. You cannot bid more than you have. Also, there will be no retracting bids. If you bid so much, and end up spending it on something else, the bid still stands unless someone else bids higher than you.

o4 - Custom forms and information regarding characters will be sent to the Oaxu mule. Keep in mind that all crew members have access to the mule account! Remember, all information, to mule!

o5 - All flatsales are 10k each. Auctions vary from event to event, as do Raffles and other events, though starting bids for Auctions will usually be around the 10k mark and Raffles will more than likely be 100g per ticket.

o6 - Rules are subject to change at any time.

The Story

Long ago, a great Goddess created the land of Oaxu. It was, admittedly, your typical creation. She spread her magic about the lands, giving life and structure to the world. And she created the people of Oaxu. They were beautiful, each and every one. And each race had its own strengths and weaknesses.

But there was a flaw in her precious planning of this world. When she had created the races of Oaxu, she had made each with a counterpart, in hopes they would need to work together. But the differences between the races caused more harm than anything. The races split. Dark, and light. They were at constant battle. They refused to work together.

The Goddess was ashamed of the world she had created. She had used almost all her power in creating these races in hopes that they would create a beautiful world together. Instead, they were destroying it. So she used the last of her magic to hold a peace between dark and light.

For many years now, this magic has kept the dark and light from destroying Oaxu anymore. But the magic is fading. The peace between the two is no longer holding, and soon, fighting may once more begin.

You are the children of the great Goddess Oaxu. You live in her world, and you must choose. Are you of dark, or are you of light? You were born either way, without a choice, but you do have a choice. Will you continue this battle between light and dark, or will you be one of the few who try to bring the peace back with your own magic? The magic of the heart?

User Image

Oaxu is a world of many races. Unlike many Breedables shops, we offer several races for you to choose from. That way, you're not stuck with just one choice! You can have a character that suits your liking! And the cool thing is, every character is unique. No character is a copy of another. You can have males and females of any available race, and you don't have to worry about it looking like someone else's!

There are some important things to note about the races of Oaxu. Each race has its counterpart. There are dark, and there are light races. And each race is skilled in a magic ability of sorts. Also, there are always exceptions to different things, such as appearance or alliance. There are almost always oddballs, you could say. A Crow could be born looking more like a Sarus, or an Ehalu could be more defiant and cruel than is expected. There are also different physical things about the races that only sometimes occur, such as wings or fur.

For more information on specific races, click here.

The Crows and the Sarus

User Image

The Crows - Dark
The Crows. Perhaps the most evil of all the races. The Crows tend to think they are in charge of all. They are nasty and cruel of personality, typically born with hair of black or white and red eyes, and have the ability to shift into any bird of their linking, crows and ravens being their liking, and other birds with the evil eye. They keep to the forests, but when they do come into towns, they tend to bring trouble with them. They are usually tall, thin, and fiercly beautiful, but deadly. They are also very strong physically. Some crows also have wings, though it's an uncommon factor. The Crows show their evil spirits early on in childhood, almost from birth. It seems the only people they get along with are of their own race, though they bicker quite often as well. As they grow older, their evil shows through even more, as they try to conquer the other races as the Goddess' magic grows weaker. People often suspect that the Crows have some sort of mental abilities that aid them in their evil, however the truth to this rumor is that only the most elderly and powerful develop mental powers.

User Image

The Sarus - Light
The Sarus are much more interactive than the Crows. They love to be around others and are much more kind. They're not the cruel, nasty people that the Crows are. They are usually born with pale flesh and red hair, and are bulkier than the Crows, despite the fact that they're named of the graceful cranes. They too can shift into bird shape, and prefer the crane, obviously, as well as other white birds. They usually are born with white wings. It is more common for a Sarus to be born with wings than a Crow. The Sarus are known for helping people much. They often try to stand up against the Crows, though it usually ends in failure, for their lack of power and cruelty. They develop no abilities other than their natural ability to shift into bird shape, thus they have fewer advantages against their counterparts.

The Anwen and the Ehalu

User Image

The Anwen - Dark
While they are the dark counterparts, the Anwen really aren't as evil as most of the dark races. They are more kind than most, though there are exceptions. They are born with ears quite like those of a cats, though slightly longer and flopping down instead of sticking up, and extremely long and very strong prehensile tails, and usually have grey or blue hair and eyes. They are small and physically weak other than their tails, but their biggest strength is their ability to camouflage instantly. To make up for their weakness, they are quite fast and somewhat acrobatic. Almost cat-like, they are. Some are born with fur, and others are completely human in appearance save their tails and ears. Some of the Anwen have been known, despite their less than cruel behavior, to join up in bands of assassins or theives. This is simply because, with their small bodies, agility and camouflaging abilities, these jobs suit them perfectly.

User Image

The Ehalu - Light
The light counterparts of the Anwen, Ehalu are even more kind and cheerful. They look quite similar to the Anwen, however they are usually born with blond or white hair and white or gold eyes. They also have flopping ears, but their tails are shorter and less strong than those of the Anwen, and, the opposite of the Anwen, are more physically strong and somewhat larger, as well as slower. The Ehalu are able to make themselves intangible, so as to walk through solid objects. They are known to like to have fun, but a great deal of the Ehalu have taken up jobs as shopkeepers and the like.

The Hazuiel and the Katous

User Image

The Hazuiel - Dark
The Hazuiel are very bad and evil at their first stage of life. They bite, throw things, and do anything else they can manage to do. When they get older and mature, they tend to outgrow that evil stage and become a 'Lesser Evil' - only resorting to tricks and pranks on anyone they can, sometimes getting a little too carried away. Hazuiel are each very different from one another; They all look like hodgepodges of a hooved creature, and a regular pawed animal plus usually something crazy mixed in. However all share the common feature of long, prehensile tongues that are occasionally forked. The females all have pouches and tufts/poufs at the ends of their tails and ears. The males have neither of these qualities. It's very common for this species to be born with two different colored eyes. They love shiny objects, and as such often have plenty of jewelry and piercings. They love to show off their very flexible nature - most of them being skilled contortionists by the time they've reached adulthood. They also have the ability to change themselves to very small sizes, as to aid in their mischief. But they can't go larger than their actual size. Their markings are generally mirrored on each limb, but sometimes they just carry the markings of one of the species they're a combination of. Just like the Katous, the Haziuel have 'bad eggs' that never outgrow that stage in their life. This seems to be sparked when they are born with two same colored eyes, generally red or gold, and their tongue is forked. They also tend to sport horns and various spikes on parts of their body, especially their tails which they'll wildly swing about in crowds in hopes of hurting other people.

The Katou's - Light
Katou's are the "Darker side of the Light" who think they're better than everyone else. You can sense their innocence and good when they're younger, and they dress more sloppily. But as they get older you notice how less and less of the 'good' they show as they constantly bicker among one another as to who's best in every way. Who has the nicest home, who dresses the nicest, etc. They seem to favor Victorian-style clothing. When they're younger, they have magical attributes - think alchemy or healing type magic - but unlike other species, their magic fades as they get older as they lose touch with their 'good' side and worry more about material things. There are the occasional 'good eggs' who never seem to go towards what the rest of the species likes, and concentrates on their magic skills and often become healers of the village, so as to not be outcast too badly from everyone else.

Both races are not born with hair, only 'headfluff'. The Hazuiel don't usually care, but the Katou's are often known to sport wigs.

The Chorda and The Zymphs

User Image

The Chorda - Light
Elusive creatures which sport rabbit-like ears and hooves of a deer. Their most striking feature is a single horn on their foreheads. They have a special bond with nature and some are even able to speak with trees and plants. It is said that their horn has somthing to do with this ability. They are quite rare in built up cities and towns and prefer to stay in the forests. They are a very family orientated-race and cherish their children dearly. Chorda's within town usually have jobs as healers or cooks. A chorda banished from thier town has thier horn removed, which severs their link with plant spirits. Chordas are good with knowing uses for plants and herbs and knowing how to track animals very well.

User Image

The Zymphs - Dark
Savage tribal creatures which also sport the long rabbit like ears and cloven hooves. They also have horns but are alike to the spiralling horns of a ram. They also prefer to stay out of bustling cities and they like to stay in packs. They live together in treetop hides and when away from them (in towns, hunting ect.) they wear garish and frightening masks made to resemble dark spirits and terrify their enemies. They also have a strong connection with the forest in that they dislike any others entering their 'patch', and will defend their home furiously. Strangely although the Chordas are their light counterpart they do not mind them in thier areas (that is they wont kill them) as they share the same respect towards nature. Zymphs are not really aggressive for no reason and do not target just lights, they take a very strong dislike to any who disrespect forests and nature.

Familiars

Alongside the races of Oaxu, the Goddess created different animals. These animals are your familiars. Familiars will be earned in different ways. Some will be earned via events happening in the Role Plays. Others you will be able to compete for in different contests in the events. Still others you can purchase as customs, and so on and so forth. There are many ways to get familiars, and there will be many different kinds.

User Image

Mengkir

Mengkir are known to be quick, stealthy, and sometimes feral. But, these canine-like creatures, if raised correctly that is, can be quite loyal, smart, and in most cases, useful. Mengkir like to hunt, and normally prey on the Goads, and other small, rodent like creatures. In packs they can take down creatures the size of the Ehalu, but they tend to keep to themselves. Distinct features are the spikes down their backs that form directly from the spinal bones. All of the spinal bones have these spikes, but only around 8 will grow in a Mengkir's life time. Two large fangs protrude from their upper jaw, which are visible at all times. Although known for their stubby tails, if bred in captivity, some have longer tails.
Mengkir lineart by Kyjoto.

Goads

Goads are small rodent-like creatures, with long pointed ears. Being blind, their other senses are strengthened making them one of the only creatures in tune with land of Oaxu. Goads have a long triangle-shaped face, two long pointed ears from the top of the head that go parallel to the body to help it hear its colony. Their body is short and stout, well prepared for digging. They are also equipped with a long tail that they can use at will. Goads make a distinct coo that is unlike any other, and is hard to mimic. Unlike the Mengkir, Goads enjoy being in large groups. They also enjoy any other company, and tend to roam into cities because of the vibrations against the earth.
Goad lineart by Kyjoto.

NPCs (Non-Player Characters) can be played by anyone on crew. Therefore, it really doesn't matter who's playing them when. But just who are the NPCs? They're the characters that run about causing mischief or good once in a while. Occasionally, an NPC will spark an event. Or perhaps one of them will stir up some trouble in the Role Plays. And maybe even leave you some puzzles that may lead to you winning something good. It all depends on who they are and what they're best known for. You should keep an eye out for these tricky characters. You never know when one's going to pop up!

The Goddess Oaxu's powers are extremely weak. No one has heard from her in many years, since she first set the spell upon the lands of Oaxu to keep the peace between races. Some say that she's up in the heavens, watching, waiting for her powers to grow strong again. Others say she's died from her lack of powers. But then again, if she were gone, would the lands still be so magical? It is unknown what has truly happened to the Goddess, though some claim they have seen miracles happen that could only have been the work of the Goddess. Who knows? You might just catch a glimpse of something amazing, if she ever does return...

XXXXXLex

Lex is the lead Crow in the Crow duo that causes trouble around Oaxu. Along with her "sidekick" of sorts, Dyn,
they wreak havoc upon Oaxu whenever they can. Despite their plans never seem to work, no one can ever catch these two! Lex is the cruel mastermind behind the duo, coming up with all their evil plots. However, Lex never likes to get her hands dirty. Fancy that?

XXXDyn

Dyn is the lesser of two evils, you could say. Compared to Lex, he's harmless. Rather, he would be nothing without her. While Lex is the mastermind who comes up with all the dirty goods, Dyn is the one who usually carries out the plots. He is by no means sweet, either. Anything he's told to do by Lex, he'll do. Brutal, this one.

XXXXXDanuUser Image

Danu is a famously friendly shop-owner in Oaxu. He is well-known through out due to his keen senses with animals and love of children. Danu is also well-known for adopting children with no families out of sympathy, he believes all children should possess friendly homes and he is fervently against the rising tides of war in Oaxu.

Stages

Every character has four stages. Unless of course, you order a Custom of a later stage, or win one of a later stage in an event. And to progress through the stages, you're going to have to meet the requirements. Once you are able to progress to the next stage, the artist and colorist who drew the previous stage for you will draw and color the next stage. Please, do not rush the artists and colorists on this matter. When you are able to progress you will be given permission to start Role Playing your next stage, but that does not mean you get to bully the artists and colorists into finishing your art faster.

For Growing info, check here!

User Image

Child
This is basically as young as your character can get. The basic age group would be estimated from about six to nine. You will need a certain number of journal entries and active Role Playing to move on to the next stage. (Of course, active Role Play is required to keep your character.)

Pre-teen
The Pre-teen stage is when your character is going through their adolescence. They should be maturing during this time period. The basic age-group will be from about ten to fourteen, and again, you will require a number of journal entries and active Role Play.

Teenager
This is the stage when your character gets to go through their teen years, hey, they're almost adults! The age-group goes from about fifteen to eighteen. To move on you must have your journal entries and active Role Play as usual.

Adult
Wow! Your character is all grown-up and can take care of themselves completely now! They've reached their absolute level of maturity and will still require active Role Play and journal entries. Just because your character has finally gotten as old as they're probably going to get doesn't mean you get out of the journal and Role Play! The age-group for this stage is nineteen and up unless they make it to the elder stage.

Elder
This is a very rare stage and it is very hard to acquire. So basically your character only gets to elder if they're special-spectacular. (You probably have to be special-spectacular too.) There is no certain age-group.

- Q -
How do I get an Oaxuian?
- A -
Easy. Check the availability post. If there's any sort of event open, try in one of those! If there's currently no events going on, customs aren't open, and it looks like there's no way to get an Oaxuian at the moment, just wait for a while until there is something open, or maybe ask around in the thread if there's an event coming soon.

- Q -
What if I want a custom?
- A -
Just check the customs post! There are several artists, and if the artist you want has slots open, you can try to get a custom from them. It's not guarenteed you'll get a custom from that artist though. If they don't accept, you'll be asked if there's a different artist you'd prefer to have. (For instance, some artists may not want to draw the full anthro races.)

- Q -
How much does it cost to get an Oaxuian?
- A -
Right now, customs are 250k, and all the other ones depend on the event. You'll have to check the individual events, but generally Flat Sales will cost somewhere around 10-15k, Auctions will start around the same price, and Raffle tickets will be around 100g each.

- Q -
Can I co-own?
- A -
Sorry, no. We don't allow co-owning here. It just makes things a little too messy as we've seen in other shops, so we'd rather keep it to having one owner per Oaxuian.

- Q -
How many Oaxuians can I have?
- A -
As many as you want! Please keep it under control and don't purchase more than you can take care of, but you can absolutely have as many as you want. We don't put limits on how many you can own.

- Q -
How do I get a familiar?
- A -
Check out the customs or availability. Sometimes they'll be sold in the events, or you can get a custom one. All are drawn by Kyjoto.

- Q -
What are NPC's?
- A -
NPC's are non player characters. They are used by the crew members only to hold events, cause trouble around the Role Plays, etc. What the NPC does depends on who it is and their alliance in Oaxu.

- Q -
Are linearts unique?
- A -
100% so! Each is drawn differently and colored differently. No two Oaxuians are alike. Each stage is drawn by the same artist who did the last stage, and not only is every artist's style different, but their linearts will all look different from each other, so your Oaxuian is always special. :3

- Q -
What about breeding?
- A -
Breeding can happen only within their respectful races. After all, wouldn't it be weird if a Crow had Anwen ears and a tail? 0___o Breeding is currently not open however, so you don't need to worry about that for now.

- Q -
What's this I hear about Elders?
- A -
Elders are a very special stage. It is unavailable except in very rare circumstances. There might be a special event in which one will be sold off once in a very very very great while, or otherwise, you'll have to earn one another way. They are not available via customs.

- Q -
Can I get a cosplay of such and such character?
- A -
No. Sorry, but we don't do cosplays. These characters are all supposed to be of original creation. After all, wouldn't it be weird if Vincent Valentine or Cloud Strife turned up in Oaxu with fuzzy Anwen tails or Sarus wings? Talk about odd!

Customs are the only way you can get a character, well, custom-made! Tired of seeing events with characters the exact opposite of what you want? Want the perfect character of your own creation? Have this idea for a Katou that's nag-nag-nagging at you? Then this is the place for you! We have lovely artists and colorists that will be doing customs so, depending on who has open slots at the time, you can pick the artist you want, instead of just having whoever's drawn what in the regular events!

User Image

To make it easy, there're only two types of Customs you can get. Characters, and Familiars. Or you can purchase both at the same time. Either way, they're always going to cost the same.

Custom Character - 250k
Custom Familiar - 50k

From here, it is quite simple. Only when Customs are open, you will PM your order to the mule. The artist will look over the form, and if they are willing to do the custom, they will PM you back, and you will send the trade to the mule. It will be drawn, colored, certed, and sent to you, your very own custom! The Familiars are the same way, save there's a different form you fill out. You can order both a character and a familiar at the same time, but only if the slots for both are open!
