Shop Rules

Please READ/FOLLOW

1. Follow Gaia's TOS.

2. No Stealing! The art in this shop as well as the story concept was created by me. Do not edit it in any way and say that it's yours and/or use it for your own benefit. It's my work.

3. No begging! If you want one of our pets please save up for one or wait until we hold a flatsale/auction/raffle/custom orders. If you luck out on the previously mentioned then wait for another one to be held. It's only fair~

4. No disrespect! That includes towards shop owners, posters, and to the shop itself. Ex. Don't come here only to flame the thread or to post that you "enjoy clubbing seals" or "eat seals" or anything of that manner. It's just rude.

5. No complaining! Please~ Ex. Do not complain if your pet did not grow exactly when it was supposed to, or if in a flatsale, someone else claimed the pet you wanted first. There may have just been an inconvinience of timing for either the shop owner in the first example, or you in the second. Everyone leads a busy life ^^

6. Do not edit a flatsale or auction post after you've posted it. This is to keep things fair. Always preview to make sure you're posting just what you wanted to~

Violation of rules will result in warning / further warning / or ban from the shop as well as removal of pets. All art in this shop was originally sketched, inked, and colored by me, and therefore the right to refuse a sale, or remove a pet without refund is mine to do so, should there be reason to. In purchasing one of our pets you enter a contract with our shop whereas we offer you our art work and irreplaceble time in growings for gold, and you abide by our rules. Break the contract, and pay!~ Mwuahahahaha ^^; Be nice and considerate though really, okay?

Jan - 05 - 07 In order for Guardians to have clearer quality for owners' satisfaction, as well as be less time consuming for the artist, their availability has been postponed until I get my tablet (Not sure when). Until then I may be able to put a few together to include in pup flatsales, but that will be all. Look out for those~ and sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Jan - 02 - 07 Good news for all~ You can now get a better idea of where your cute little seal pups have come from because the map of the Arctic Region is now available for all to see in the About Let it Snow section below. It's complete with all of the soon-to-be RPable areas. This means that Guardians are next to come~ More information will be available in the guild forums once they're all done.
Dec - 29 - 06 Anyone wishing to purchase a pup in any upcoming flatsale is now welcomed to do so with a prepaid gift card. Just claim the pup, purchase the card for 700g, and we'll have it on it's way to your friends inbox directly after the flatsale along with a notice letting them know where they can pick their new pup up. Prepaid gift cards are also available at the mini shop for those who'd like to treat a friend's pup.

Let it Snow is a shop with RPable characters and a story concept all created by me in order to help spread awareness about global warming and the harmful effects that it has on arctic animals. All of the art in this shop was drawn and colored by myself with fur seals in mind, and with it I tried to capture the innocent and cuddly softness of their side of the arctic for owner's enjoyment. By "buying" one of our pets on Gaia, you are in no way donating real money to any kind of charity for endangered arctic animals, although I do hope that it reaches out to like-hearted individuals and brings them the satisfaction of having one of these dreamy little babies as a companion while at the same time helping to raise awareness about their current situation. Thoughts do count!

The Story User Image

A cool crisp breeze vigorously sweeps up snow in the distance, and within it a creature wobbles onward. The day is bright with sunlight, but extremely cold and dry, and as this female seal struggles through the fierce bite of the angry winds surrounding her, she whimpers, frustrated with how her day has been thus far.

She had made quite a few trips already, to several edges of her home glacier in hopes of finding food for her pups just off it's icy cliffs, but hadn't found much. Despite the cold around her, the weather was much warmer than she had remembered it to be, and because of it the glacier's cliffs had greatly receded from the fishing locations where she used to hunt. She had looked into a few other locations that she learned of from other mothers, but the fish in those areas were scarce now, due to desperate hunters like herself. Hopefully she'll have more luck with this one.

After reaching the icy edge, she slips into the water, relieved to be out of the lashing of the wind, and continues on with her search. She catches sight of a few smaller fish and with a sleek movement, has them in her grasp almost instantly. Tired, she begins her journey back.

Deep within a snowy bank, her pups wait for her return from within their den. One whines softly, while the other two lick hungrily at the snow. The quiet rustle of the wind outside gently lulls them into a calm sleepy state. In their sleepiness they snuggle with eachother, teething playfully on whoever's nose or flipper is nearest to them. Suddenly a *crunch* and *cschhht cscht* rushes into the den, and the pups are lifted quickly. They feel the cold air race around their faces and body, and then the sting of harsh hard ice as they tumble out onto the surface outside.

Panting, their father snuggles with each of the startled pups before glancing back at the caved in snow bank which they once knew as their home. The den had been slowly weakening in the warmer weather, softening, making it unsafe for the pups. He had been outside trying to strengthen it with snow, and after catching signs of it giving way, he rushed in for his beloved babies.

The mother finally catches up to them, and quickly gives what food she had to the pups. Her mate lowers his head down to meet her worried gaze with a reassuring one. They'd send their pups away to where they'd always be safe, fed, and taken care of. Other parents will do the same.

The Pups

The pups are sent to our shop by way of strong wind currents, and arrive lovingly wrapped by their parents and waiting to be adopted into a new home. They have three stages in total; Infant, Toddler, and Child. The following is a schedule of when pups are expected to mature into the next stage;

Infant - Changes into Toddler in 3 days.
Toddler - Changes into Child in 5 days.
Child - Remains in this stage.

Since they're so young, we do not offer the choice to breed seal pups at our shop.

The Guardians

The Guardians are those who accept responsibility of the seal pups and are divided into two different groups;

The Aruqachi Clan - This group includes all human individuals who are not of arctic origin, but who have become aware of the danger that global warming has brought to the arctic pups, and in attempt to preserve their species have begun to alter the negative effects of the warming on the arctic region and it's animals. To have this done they've; a) set up rescue services, b) organized shops in the more southern town, Boengale, which distributes rescued pups through adoption (just like ours! ^^), c) constructed mechanical icebergs and glaciers in the arctic to provide shelter to seal familes, but with slow and steady movement which can be controlled by the Aruqachi, d) they've created services in the Nianmark Region for arctic shelters which help deliver rations and other supplies to aid the Aruqachi and pups, and right in the middle of all the activity stands the Inkuah Citadel, a fortress constructed of heavy metals and materials to be able to endure the arctic. From there the president of this movement, Dory Raelin, commands and regulates all the commotion within the cold region.

The Arctic Fox - This group includes a race of fox/human creatures with extraordinary senses and physical capabilities. They're fast, agile, and superiorly intelligent as opposed to the human species of the Aruqachi Clan, and owe most of their sharp reflexes and skills to the race of arctic fox which they've evolved from over the past hundreds of years. Due to their physical qualities, they've been the natural guardians of the arctic for years, and are quite keen on the arrival of the Aruqachi Clan and have since retreated to inhabit the Singali Cave, south of the chartered island of Piqu. Once in a while, however, they scout the group of humans while hiden, sometimes aiding them through the dangerous situations which the harsh climate brings so that they may be able to watch them as they continue their work, trying to decide whether or not they will actually benefit the arctic, solve the problem which has caused harm to it in the first place, or make it worsen.

When ordering: State your pup's ID number as well as the item name. Your pet obtains the item after the payment is received.

Pets and Purchases!

Q. How can I get a seal/guardian?
A. During a flatsale, auction raffle, or you can order a custom. Please see our custom order form format on the Pricing post.
Q. How many seals/guardians can a person own?
A. You can own as many seals as you can handle, and just one guardian per person please.
Q. Do I have to RP my guardian?
A. Guardians are a part of the Role Playing concept of our shop. We'd prefer that everyone who is interested in owning a guardian be interested in RPing them as well.
Q. What does it mean if a seal's discription is highlighted in red during a flatsale?
A. Its colors or markings are either rare or just uncommon.
Q. Can I post for two or more seals at once during a FS?
A. Yes.
Q. I purchased two seals, can I have them on the same cert?
A. We place seals on seperate certs only.
Q. Can I buy a seal for a friend?
A. Yes, a special gift card is available during flatsales.
Q. Another question about buying for my friend: Is it okay if my friend picked out it's name?
A. Of course! With any gift purchase we send out the receiver a notice which requests a name for their new pet.
Q. Why hasn't my pet grown yet? It was supposed to grow today.
A. The time between stages is merely a rough sketch of when you can expect your pet to grow. This is due to the fact that shop owners have busy lives of their own, and will age your pets whenever time is most convenient for them.
Q. My pet grew, but I don't see any changes/I don't see the pet at all. What's happening?
A. Chances are that the shop owners are still uploading the updated pet, or you need to clear your browser cookies/cache.
Q. Can seals breed?
A. No. They're just children~
Q. How can I add my pet to my profile?
A. Open your profile page and click on "Edit My Profile" in the upper right hand corner. If you don't already have a place for them, add a custom content box by clicking on "Content" in the lower left hand corner, and select the Custom "Add," then close the Content Menu. A new box called "Content" should have appeared on your page with an "Edit" option - click it. In the first box type in User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
