The art here is completely digital, and a computer made it, no - no ok, not really, that was a bad digital artist joke... we did the art! And we'll do it some more for the winner of this auction. A little welcome section from Aliena and Kimaya to the people who will come here and play with us. Come play! We want to chat with you all, and meet new folks on gaia, so please come inside and sit for a while if you can. We dont intend to be mean or elitist, and we welcome any artist or commissioners in any range of skill or seriousness to come chat about art, or the weather, or the latest HP fanfic. Please keep in mind the beauty and conceit comments and especially the beauty theme are meant to be a humorous play on the fact we both attempt to do extremely pretty girl art, and they are not an indicator that we think our art is super beautiful or even particularly special, ok?

Introduction

Hiya there, Kimaya here! This is my second auction here on gaia, but my first joint, with my good friend Alienarose, who is a wonderfully talented artist. We might have different art styles, or maybe they're similar, who knows, but one thing we definitely see eye to eye on is that making "pretty" is awesome fun. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I say its really in the hands of the artist.
O-o, ok so that was another silly quip....

Artwork generally takes from 12 - 40 hours depending on how detailed it is. Its done all in photoshop from sketch to completion. I give my commissioners the high res file and the photoshop file. I will be offering only simple decorative backgrounds at this time, completely up to me but based on your reference, and here again, depending on the final bid I may add more to the BG. Give me 1-2 months for completion.

Ok, from my end here's what Im offering depending how the bidding goes. This is a rough idea, and if things go really weird and wonky don't worry I'll work with ya. On that note, also, the level of detail will vary depending on how high the bid is - but nothing below my standard commission level detail.

Introduction

Hello! I'm Aliena and I am one of your lovely hosts for this auction. Thank you for checking it out! I love to draw and I am excited to offer my services here. Most of all, I'm excited to be doing this alongside my buddy, Kimaya, whose art is to die for! I primarily work in soft digital painting in Photoshop and specialize in "pretty" things, though I certainly enjoy being stretched in what I draw for others. I've gotten several commissions that were out of my norm, but turned out to be great fun. My style is lineless semi-realism. I've done lined work in the past, but have been getting away from that. So, sorry, no anime style from me!

For this auction, I will be happy to draw the winner either their avatar or any original character, male or female. Be advised, though, that I won't do mecha, anthro, hentai or yaoi, erotic art, or blatant blood and gore. Nothing "Rated R." Depending on the final bid amount, which will be detailed below, you will get a commission quality picture with a background of some sort. So if you do win, please specify what sort of setting you want your character in. I can do a scenic background or a more decorative one. Your preference. heart

Ok the last two days of the auction are here, time for some final rulings so there is no confusion:
Sniping - any bids falling within 4 hours of the auction end will cause a temp extension in which any person who was outbid may choose to bid against the new high bid. That means, if soandso is outbid at 8pm tomorrow, while they are sleeping, they can come back and bid the next day to regain the HB. The extension will last 24 hours or until all final bidders declare quitting. This is not an extension it is an effort to make sure there is no sniping.

This is not a tutorial, and whoever looks at it please keep in mind it is only there to answer the PMs she has gotten recently or in the past, about asking how she paints or how, in specific she paints faces. Also, it was made with the idea that those asking the questions knew the basics of digital painting so it might
be confusing for anyone who doesn't know those basics. ^^;; Enjoy.

Advertising Contest is still not OFFICIAL until we have the minimum required players. You may of course continue to accumulate points while we wait, however the cash prizes are not available until we have the required amount of advertisement contestants. Advertising Contest 200k in cash prizes

We'd like to have an advertising contest because we don't really have time to go to the chatterbox and not nearly enough interest to just sit here and just be like ok, come bid ye artlovers!

So! Here's the deal.... we'll give points for a few things:

1) Wearing the sig in your banner everyday. Any of the ones below. For each day its in your sig you get a cookie. You'll have to report here of course, for each day to count.
2) Chatterbox and other ads. Its pretty simple, for each advertisement you run, we'll give you a cooke for each and every page in it. Your bumps their bumps, etc. You can use any of the art here and hotlink it. Feel free to have fun and be creative with the ads.
- if you are caught cheating you will be disqualified
- if you are caught breaking gaia's ToS or really making a mess in the forums, you will be penalized points. Please I don't want to hear from any mods that someone was posting full size image ads in the exchange without selling something, etc.
3) Referrals... anyone coming in here and saying you sent them will get ya another cookie.

There must be a minimum of five participants, and a minimum cookie amount of 150 cookies, or the contest will be canceled due to inactivity.

Add the cookies up and make sure you qualify, and here's the prizes:

3. Can I critique your art in this thread?
Please dont... Any art posted here is for promoting the contest (even if its not really) and a critique kind of ruins the point. Neither of us mind critiques or comments about our art in the appropriate places though, so if you have something you really need to say to one of us pm it or go post on Deviantart where we post our art.

4. Will the freebie art look like the art in your banners?
No, its going to be cheap and dirty 'free art', sketchy, simple, messy or chibi. The samples will be posted in the above section about freebie art. There is the possibility of getting better art than whats posted in the samples, but we will probably reserve that for when the auction begins as contests will be less frequent.

5. Why is this auction all about beauty?
Because, alienarose and kimaya have both often been dubbed 'pretty girl' artists. or accused of portraying women as "too pretty" we decided to flaunt it rather than flail against it.

6. What limitations apply to the art?
Besides the ones listed specifically for each artist there are a few:
- concerning avatar art only (not OCs) artistic license may be taken with your avatar, snipping items which cause clutter, or creating the gaia items with artistic flair, up to and including hair styles etc. Each artist may have a different idea of what is too much avatar art and less art, so please ask questions if you are concerned.
- For the couples scene, if AB'd the timeframe will double. I don't really expect this so lets not worry about it, but if it does, please be patient!
- Please remember we will be making your characters pretty, boys included. The art will be our interpretation of your character or avatar art. We may be influenced or inspired by what we already know about you, or how you describe the character.
- We reserve the right to refuse any character or avatar, and otherwise cancel this auction for any reason, although it will be communicated to you appropriately.
- Concerning communication, both artists take communicating with their commissioners very seriously, please feel free to ask how the art is coming. But be advised the timeframe takes into consideration that the art may not be started right at the end of the auction, ok? Thanks!

7. I think you made soandso's freebie art look way better than mine, why did you do that?
Please, its free, try not to worry too much about the freebie art.

8. You left off like half all of my items in my freebie art, why?
All of the freebie art is intended to be fun and quick, and represent the theme of this auction. Its entirely possible you could recieve freebie art of your character with a sex change, or a wig on. Its our intepretation of you or your avatar, we may be more inspired by what we know of you as a person than your avatar, ok? Again, the freebie art is free, please try not to worry about it.
