I swore I'd never quest again.
This was my mantra throughout my Mini Angel Wings quest. Having joined in May 2004, I didn't think it was possible for a user so late in the game to get those mini wings, and for months, it felt like for every gold I gained, the minis jumped in price a thousand more. It felt hopeless.

Somehow in May 2005, I did it. First I'd gotten hold of an Angelic Scarf during finals week, traded up a little more, somehow got donated a Devil Tail, exchanged a little harder, almost blew it all grabbing a Black Bow Tie... and then somehow selling it for 10 million to get my minis. It was a roller coaster. It was exhilarating. But I gave up nearly everything I had to do it.

So why, after all of that, am I back at this? Because it's still there. Because this much skill playing the markets and knowing how to quest can't stay dormant forever. But there's another good reason.

On Livejournal, there's a meme going around called 101 in 1001, a self-improvement challenge to meet 101 clearly defined goals within 1001 days. Among other tasks, I wrote this among them:

63. Earn another 2003 donation item (or item of similar worth) on Gaia.

I already have an OMG leftover from the Minis Quest (I bought it for investment purposes right afterwards), but it doesn't count. I considered going after a scarf, but the Angelic Scarf is only 50k less than the AFK, and I think the AFK looks better on me anyway, so... I'm going for it.

Frequently Asked Questions, Insults, and Random Remarks

Sell your (insert donation item here), dammit! You're already rich!
That's NOT the point. In fact, that's the anti-point. That's why this quest is actually harder than it's supposed to be. One, I already quested for these minis too hard to ever give them up, and two, I don't want to give up the OMG because if I ever attempt to go for an Angelic Sash, I'll need both the OMG and AFK in order to give a decent offer. Besides, it's nice to have matching sets. If I refuse to put another donation item up here it probably has some sentimental value to me for whatever reason.

... Wait, harder than it should be?
People don't like to give those who already have a 2003 donation item help for whatever reason, because they assume they're already rich enough to help themselves. The fact is, I got this rich from knowing HOW to quest and exchange, and if people are going to hold my minis against me, that's their problem. Besides, I've got three years to pull this off.

Yeah, about that... What's with Halloween 2008?
That's when my 101 in 1001 challenge finishes. I'll explain more about the 101 in 1001 challenge later on, but because I started on my birthday (February 3, 2006), it finishes on Halloween 2008. Go figure. Aside from that, there's no reason for the deadline, although one would guess by Halloween 2008, an AFK is going to be worth some ridiculous price.

How long was the first quest?
It took approximately 10 months from quest announcement to finish to get my Mini Angel Wings. But I freely admit I had a HUGE leg up. Without the Devil Tail, I'd still managed to amass about 1 million in items by that point though, so I estimate it'll take the same length of time to finish this one. The sooner the better, obviously, and this time I already have a leg up in the form of an Angelic Headband I recieved only a few days prior.

So what happens after this?
After this... Well, professional questors aren't a very big market, but I'm sure there's some way to put all this expertise to use...

The People Who've Helped Me

Donators are listed here. The actual value of your donations are kept guarded, but you will be listed according to various price brackets. This is more for my record (especially when dealing with charities) than yours, but if you wish not to be listed here, please say so at some point in the transaction.

All donators who give more than 1000g in gold and/or items will have their picture on display as opposed to their names, in 'snapshot' format, with the name and date of the donation. You're welcome to use this snapshot for your own purposes if you wish. It's the right size for an LJ icon, even.

This bumping quiz is 101 questions of pure, unadulterated silliness! All you have to do is answer each question one at a time, putting each answer in its own post, until you complete the quiz.

Right Way
1. This is how you answer it!

Right Way
2. This is how you answer the next one!

Wrong Way
1. This is NOT how you answer it!
2. This is NOT how you answer the next one!

And yes, should you complete the quiz, you will be rewarded handsomely. Contact me once you've finished, and after I verify that you've completed it properly, I'll take a snapshot of you for this thread! I may offer other things later, but for now, just the snapshot.

On top of this, I give bonuses for 'page pwnage' (where you've posted all 15 posts on a single page of this quest thread), and everyone who completes this quest gets a 100g bonus for each page pwned! Once again, I will need to verify this detail for myself before awarding you your gold.

The quiz is up now, so have fun!

Veled's Bunnies!

User Image The rabbits are here! These beautiful bunnies are drawn by hand and colored in Flash MX, giving you a piece of vector art you can call your own and keep in your signature!

So, how can you get one?

By helping me on my quest! Each rabbit 'costs' a 2000g donation, without any clothes or special colors. You can either donate this money to me, or if you take my bumper's quiz above, I'll make it quiz completion + 1000g for your bunny instead. By the time you finish the quiz you'll probably have earned 1000g anyway, so it's almost like getting the bunny for free!

As the quest progresses, new fur colors will become available to dye your rabbit (for a fee, of course) and items to dress her in, some of which may even look like donation items she can wear! If you're the impatient sort though, for a fee I can go ahead and make all the items she needs to look like a specific avatar. If you're willing to shell out the big money, I can even repose her for you, to make a truly unique rabbit.

If you're a cheapskate though, I'll go ahead and be nice, and count 10 (non-quiz) bumps as 100 gift credits towards a nice rabbit. That means to get a rabbit of your own, it'll only be 200 bumps!

So... who wants a bunny?

I think she said that she would be done by 2007...let's hope she's right.

Anyway, I congratulate (gah, I can't spell) you on getting your minis (even if it's almost a year late xd ). I'm amazed you could save up for so long to get them. I tried for five months to get an angelic scarf, but gave up the day before Halloween. Splurging my 120k was fun, though.

And thanks for making the Pro-Choice guild. =D

Kidalana
Wow. Dedicated. The AFK hat is awesome and I can understand why you wont sell the mini wings. Well I wish you luck.

Nivan
It looks like a great quest. ^_^ Your 101 things to do are fantastic. I'm half tempted to help you do more than one of em.

You MUST learn to drive a stick soon. It's amazingly important I say! I've gotten to the point where if I drive an automatic, I feel like I'm cheating.

FallenWhiteRabbit
I can't belive I'm actually PMing you! I never PM someone about their quest thread. However. I want to because if I post in your thread you would never see it because of the people answering the questions. Anyway, to my point. I really love your thread. If I wasn't on a quest myself and wasn't so low on the gold I would donate to you. You have the type of thread I'm always looking for to donate to. Also, I think you'd like to know I read your whole thread. (Well, the first page.) Every part. And now (Dang it!) I feel like trying for the 101 things. sweatdrop I'm such a procrastinator. (I'll probaby have one of my things being to finish a major report for school at least 3 days before it is due instead of a few hours before it is due...) I wish you much luck on your quest and hope you make it.

This section is hereby dubbed 'What happens when you leave Veled on Tektek at the dead of night'. I may put this into a more coherent format later.

For now... enjoy the Ninja Chicks!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Ninja Chick Alpha-Xi
Codename: Deep Blue
Age: 20
The youngest of the Ninja Chicks, Alpha inherited the position after a 'series of unfortunate incidents' overtook the original Alpha, leaving behind an angelic aura that surrounds Alpha wherever she goes. Her staff has a seemingly endless variety of uses.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Ninja Chick Beta
Codename: Sunset Boulevard
Age: 23
An inexperienced ninja still learning her legs, this fan-fighter has to rely on quick tosses and quicker eyes. A swipe of her scarf tends to keep her body safer than it looks.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Ninja Chick Gamma
Codename: Kabuki Kit
Age: 29
A master knife-fighter, kit provides an invaluable source of combat and stealth skills. Despite her pretty outfits and exotic charm, Kit refuses to ever remove her mask. One can only assume she learned to master swords the hard way.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Webtress
Film Noir :Codename
Unknown :Age
The Webtress is considered a chaotic enemy of the Ninja Chicks, in that she's just as much a thorn in their side as often as she is doing half their work before the chicks even step inside. Her parasol turns into a deadly weapon with its razor-sharp edges, and it's been said that her parasol can drill through concrete, given enough torque.

Webtress is wanted for crimes including but not limited to black hat hackery, theft of toxic chemicals, and rumored possession of the G-Virus.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Huntress Moon
All That Glitters :Codename
71, stopped physically aging at 26 :Age
Huntress is a shrewd spellcaster with a quick wand. After the development of her 'immortality' spell, she declared herself queen, and (reportedly) cast a spell to enslave every child concieved thereafter as her subjects. However, she refuses to 'engage' this spell until all her opposition ages and dies out, leaving it uncertain if she really does have a fetal-binding spell or if her spellcasting is so much hooey.

Local scientists want a tissue sample to verify her anti-aging spell, but she has made herself notoriously hard to reach. None of the Ninja Chicks have even confronted her in person, albeit they have come across clever constructs and golems in her likeness.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Doctor Octavio Sonata
Sing-Sing :Codename
47 :Age
Octavio is ordinarily a caring, sensitive, open-minded guy. Well, except when he claims his possessed arm is taking control. After being mauled by an anti-abortion mob outside the general-purpose clinic he worked in, Octavio attempted to rebuild his arm, but ended up turning it into his personal obession, and a nightmare. He's able to perform surgery without any additional tools using that arm, but he tends to 'forget' the anasthetic.

Working at the city morgue as a mild-mannered coroner, the Ninja Chicks have seen his 'possessed' side enough to know that at least three of the bodies he's examined have been reanimated. They halfway suspect that Dr. Sonata is attempting to animate a fourth person as well...

- A Brief F.A.Q. About 101 in 1001 and this list -

So what is this?

101 clearly defined tasks, to be completed in 1001 days. In this case, I have from February 3, 2006 (My 20th birthday) to October 31, 2008 (Halloween!) to complete all 101 items on this list.

What's a clearly-defined goal?
Each item on the list should be quantifiably provable. For example, travelling internationally could be proven with a picture of me at London-Gatwick, and thus is a clearly-defined task. "Don't blow my stack for a day" is not so provable or that well defined at all.

Why didn't you put _____?
Some goals appeared either inappropriate or else overtly hostile to include in the list. For example, while "Drink an alcholic beverage" or "Lose virginity" are certainly defined and doable, one isn't really an event to be proud of, and the other probably shouldn't be bragged about in a public blog.

Also, I've avoided putting in tasks dealing with certain people whose posiitons may change, such as boyfriends and other online associates, or at least done so without naming names. There's enough stigma with boyfriends in general without something as inane as a self-imposed list being a reason to keep a bad one.

So... Three years, huh?
A lot can happen within three years. Within this span I should not only graduate, but also have close to six months or so to obtain a job and/or complete the more independant tasks. On the flipside, That's also the better part of my college life to do some of the crazier stuff that's expected of me at college, and just makes sense to do now rather than be a good little girl now and regret not having a college life later.

Everyone's got to have a time of their life, and I've selected the tasks in here where some are of personal pride, some are of gaining control and balance, some give me good times to look back on and laugh at, and some give me a chance to cut loose from my personal routine before I get tied down further in a swamp of college work and jobs and, well... normal life.

Do you honestly expect to finish?
Everything here is doable, provable, and possible without breaking any laws or openly defying any authories, including my parents. Whether it all gets DONE is a question to ask for later, for my pocketbook, for my internet connection, all of that. There's no point in giving up early on this list while there's still years to go.

Besides... a lot of the reason for breaking it up into 101 tasks is that some ARE easier to do than others. Being able to complete at least part of the list faster than others emans that I feel at least some sense of accomplishment, even if the list isn't finished.

Er... Why do so many of your tasks involve spending money in such tiny amounts?
I have a hangup about spending money online for anything. Especially for virtual items like Gaia's donation letters or YPP's dubloons. And even beyond that... If I don't contribute to what these people online are trying to do, then I'm not encouraging the pay-to-enhance-play model that a lot of these places are trying to encourage, then people won't come to expect it when/if I try to do the same for myself online. Even tiny amounts matter to these people, because they're essentially direct purchases rather than merchandise markup, and if this is all they need to be happy with me as a customer, then power to 'em.

This will cause a banner much like the one above to appear in your signature, with a link to the front page.

Link for Me, Link for You

This place will hold links to worthwhile quests, charities, and other places that I just happen to think deserve it.
