NOTES TO THE AUDIENCE:

MOVING!

Hey there, boys and girls.

Becuase I lost all the old crab files, I've been spending the last couple months coming up with some new bases. So that means that -everything- has been redone.

Because of this, I'm moving the shop. A new thread will be set up with all the new merchandise, while this old place will stick around as a living memory of sorts.

The shop's currently accepting suggestions for the next shell type!
For some ideas, check out a few of the bulk-retailers online. If you see a shell that you like, come back here and suggest it! I'll add it on to the next poll. :]

The new poll goes up as soon as I get enough submissions, so start looking! heart

The last shell to win the polls was the Striped Fox Shell, which has already been drawn and added to the shell-bank.

The only requirements I have are that they have to be the kind of shell that a hermit crab could fit in. So, hollow, with a round opening. There can't be any spines or bumps or whatever around the mouth that would scrape against a little guy looking to get in.
Other than that, though, run free! Let your imagination take hold. Some of those shells are -really- pretty.

Welcome to Lester's Terrarium!

Here, you can buy cute little hermit-crab pets. <3

Some quick notes about the shop:
Painted shell patterns are sold once in the shop, and then they are gone. Additionally, up to three people only will be allowed to buy each shell. Non-painted shells will be sold multiple times, but there will be a limited number of them available with each release. I'm hoping this will assist in making the crabs feel more personal to their owners. To help couter-act this somewhat, I try to release new styles often.

Eventually, there will be a section of the store where owners will be able to buy accessories and add-ons for their crabs. These might includes rhinestones to decorate the shells with, palm trees to include in the certficate, baby mini-crabs (which, in reality, are some of the cutest things I've ever seen.), or maybe even the ability to add custom-patterns or markings to the shells. For now, though, that section of the shop will stay rather empty.

When I need to make some kind of notes to the audience, I'll include them here.

For now, though, enjoy the shop! ^^

Be respectful to people in the thread. Try to keep disputes to the PM's. Also, don't blow up at unsuspecting visitors. Even -if- they just got the last of your favorite pattern. :]

Please, don't steal my or anyone else's crabs. Like, say, Lester. Or the shells on display. I don't include 'sample' marks because I'd like to think I can trust you guys to leave them be. heart

Beyond these two, just use common sense. If your momma wouldn't want you doing it, then I don't want you doing it, either. ;]

This is Lester, the store's resident mascot-crab. heart Lester's a sweetie, and he very nicely agreed to help out in showing you lovely folks what it is you're buying.

Every sell includes the Hermit Crab and a Certificate (as seen with Lester above). You decide the crab-type, what shell you want, your hermie's name, owner and certificate color. The certificate can be any color you want. :]

The Species:

These are the various species of crabs we have for sale in the shop.

First: Coenobita Clypeatus.
Called the Purple Pincer, or PP for short, these guys are Carribean Land Hermit Crabs. They're one of the two most-common hermit crabs sold in the United States. PP's are very sweet tempered, and have a lesser tendancy towards pinching than their cousins.

Second: Coenobita Compressus.
Called the Ecuadorian, or E hermit crab. These hermies have narrower eyes than the Purple Pincers, and are partners in sharing the 'most-commonly sold in America' title. E's are just mad about exploring. When you bring yours home from the pet store, they'll be the first to start racing around.

Third: Coenobita Perlatus.
The ever-popular Strawberry hermit crab. These sweeties are a bright, bright red, and their bumps show up very prominantly. Beware, though. Strawberries are very stubborn, and rather rough on crabitats, and have a tendancy move around all the objects in the tank. ^^; I'm hoping to adopt a few of these guys from the local pet shop soon. <3

Fourth: Coenobita Rugosus.
Called Ruggies, rugs, or the "tawny hermit crab", ruggies come in a rainbow of colors. Browns, tans, blue, grey, peach.. there have even been pink rugs before! So, don't be suprised if the ruggies available sometimes differ slightly from sample picture. Ruggies are sweet tempered like PP's, and inquisitive like EE's. An all around nice crab. <3

The Shells

These are the various types of shells most commonly sold in the shop.

First: Yellow Land Snail Shell.
These shells are naturally yellow, with stripes of rich brown spiralling down their lengths. These are the bases for most of the painted shells in the shop.

Second: Cancellaria Shell.
These small, delicate shells hold a fragile beauty, and a nicely shaped, slitted opening. The perfect home for any finicky hermie. ;]

Third: Striped Fox Shell.
These shells are large and light-weight, with lovely striped patterns and coloring. Though often found in shades of peach and orange, the ones at the store are generally of the olive-green variety.

Here's how this works.
You take a look through the current available crabs and shells.
You pick a crab, and then you pick the shell you would like it to have.
The shell that the picture-crab is in -is not- the shell that it is given to you in. It is there for sample purposes only.
Just don't want anyone to get confused about this. ^^;

For now, this is basically just a place-holder. sweatdrop
I'm fiddling with a couple of ideas for it, from little-customizations to add to the crabs to full-out terrariums to buy and personalize, but nothing is quite passed it's liquid form at this point. So... yeah. Just keep an eye on the updates. If anything changes, I'll stick an announcement there. :]

Steps for Ordering a Crab:

1: Decide which shell and crab you want.
-A very big decision. If there aren't any in stock, just be patient. It won't stay that way for long.

2: Fill out order form.
-Make sure to double check when your're done!

3: Post form in thread.
-Post the completed form in this thread. If you are ordering more than one crab, please include a 'Grand Total' spot at the bottom.

4: Send in the trade.
-Another very important step. No trade, no order. Just send in the trade for the total amount, including the page number of your post in the title.

5: Wait for your crab.
-I try to be as speedy as possible, but sometimes it just isn't possible to get to on the internet. I know this can be pretty hard sometimes, but hopefully it won't be -too- hard. ^^

6: Complete Trade.
- As soon as I finish your order, I confirm the trade from my end and send it back your way. Then, I PM you your order. All that's left for you to do at that point is to complete the trade, and enjoy your new pet! heart

This here is the Crab-shell graveyard. All the shells that come to this place eventually make their way here. This way, you guys, the audience, can see all nifty, retired shells that people have bought in the past.
