001. To Enter - Please submit artwork of the characters posted here. You'd be surprised how many people can't grasp this concept.
002. To Enter - Please enter with your best work. Stick figures will not be accepted. Nor will furries or hentai, yuri or yoai.
003. To Enter - PM me. Include your SN (name), and a link to the picture.
004. While Waiting - Please keep your picture hosted at the given link. I will not host your picture until after the contest.
005. While Waiting - Please do not harrass me. If you harrass me, you will be disqualified.
006. Winning - Winners will be PMed. They will need to respond to the PM to get their prize within a week.
007. Losing - There are no losers. Don't harrass me if you don't get any gold or art. Please be curtious to those who did.

Tips to Win
001. READ THE STORY SUMMARY! You'll learn a lot about how my characters are supposed to be portrayed.
002. Draw multiple characters together.
003. Even though my pictures don't generally show it, I love very dark themes.
004. Pictures don't have to be colored to win. I'm a black-and-white illustrator myself.
005. Draw Oriel by herself in a dynamic, princess/warrior/philosopher pose. Draw her ending the world, saving it, hiding, fighting, etc.
005. Draw Oriel and Lexineon. <3
006. Draw Rostial and/or Wrathe. I haven't fully developed their personality to add something to it that I haven't thought of.
007. Bump, even if you're not working for the bump contest.
008. Draw for both the main and mini contest. It gives you a better chance, and quality line art isn't needed for the mini contest.
009. Visit my Deviant Art. If I somehow spike to 1000 hits by the end of the contest, I'll be a happier person which means more prizes. I may randomly give out gold, art or items to the people who don't win if I'm a happy person. So even if you don't win, you have at least a chance at getting something for your hard effort.

The Story
Religions use an epic story of one's travels, or several's, to account how the world began and how one should live. What if heaven really did exist? What if hell once truly reigned earth?

A World Once Was follows the Shi Princess Oriel Kamakori who, despite her upbringings, doesn't feel she's suitable for the role she has to take. Her father dead and her mother depressed and confined, she is left to rule her dominion of Katrabianotsu on her own.

On the same day that Oriel is inducted as Queen of Katrabianotsu, far across Earth in the Badlands, Konita King Conoreon Thelon has been killed and Demion, the youngest of the Thelon brothers, takes the throne.

It is Demion's greed for power that takes the Konita to Katrabianotsu - in war. Once declared, the Shiinai send for help from the Haisena, nomads, with their king, Vincent Amoria. Vincent's daughters, while they are twins, have the same color of hair and eyes, and the same Haisena-trademark bushy tale, are as different as night and day. The youngest, Casmaron, who was recently married to Rostian Koroma, has her eye on the throne, and Seraphina, while more mature, can't help but feel suppressed. Also tagging along is their cousin, Wrathe Kiono. Oriel and Casmaron do not get along at all due to Casmaron's greed. Oriel and Seraphina, however, become the closest friends history has ever seen.

The Shiinai also receive help from the Konita, surprisingly. When Demion took over, a group of Konita, who call themselves the Nator, split from the race, forming their own rebellion underground. This was their chance to shine. They are lead by Lexineon Makilia, who we later learn was adopted by the Thelon family.

When the battle ensues, and Lexineon, Oriel, Casmaron, Seraphina, Wrathe and Rostian are at the mercy of Demion and his advisor D'mitri, a strange storm kills off much, and what isn't killed by the storm, is killed by a vicious plague the following morning. Safe, the group finds themselves stranded in a more-than-ever desolate Katrabianotsu with the Konita fleeing back to the Badlands. What's worse is the group is slowly falling sick, but not the same sicknesss that wiped out their races. Oriel takes comfort in Wrathe.

It doesn't take long for the group to realize they must not stay in Katrabianotsu. Wrathe's friend, Elijiah, sneaks them in to the underground of Mesopotamia, where humans reign.

In this book, as a critique of religion and of civilization, humans are seen as cold, unaccepting and unchangable. They live in cities, entirely seen as urban ghettos, with horrible air conditions. The "temporary king" (what the group calls the president) has little control, and even has no idea of what's going on in the world. The humans know nothing of the Haisena, Konita or Shiinai. They are also magicless and powerless because they refuse to believe in what they cannot see.

It is here that the Underground tries to help the group overcome their illnesses. During her sleepwalk, Oriel wakes to find herself in Casmaron's room, with Casmaron thrown on the floor and unconscious. Wrathe lashes at her, though Oriel has no idea what just happened.

It is revealed through another showdown between Casmaron and Oriel that the reason they are all ill, and the reason Casmaron and Oriel don't get along, is because they have something inside of them controlling their emotions - spirits from the land of Santanta, which no one there has heard of.

With some research, the group digs up that they are inhibited by spirits from Second World Earth (the human's equal of Hell), who are trying to force an apocalypse.


Some Things to Know

Just so I don't give away the ending because that wouldn't be fair, here's some other things you should know.
exclaim Wrathe and Oriel end their relationship after Wrathe rapes her.
exclaim Oriel and Lexineon are starcrossed lovers not meant to be yet meant to be at the same time. They survive the story as one of the best known romantic couples of all time.
exclaim First World Earth is the human's equivilant of Heaven where the ancient Suotsunamu presided.
exclaim Each "god" or "goddess" from the third world is based on one of the five ancients from the first world.
exclaim The five ancients gave birth to nine children who are the Children of the Apocalypse.
exclaim Second World Earth was put under a curse because of the Ancient's radical behavior in the first world.
exclaim Second World earth is known as the world of the Santanta is the equivilant of hell.
exclaim The ancients were forced to relive in that world with the worse of curses.
exclaim Their cursed spirits lived seperately from their first world spirits after the end of the second world by the Children of the Apocalypse.
exclaim Third World Earth was created by the ancients working together for a common goal.
exclaim The apocalypse is avoidable as long as nations can coexist peacefully.
exclaim The Third World failed to do that.
exclaim Oriel, Lexineon, D'mitri and Demion, Casmaron, Seraphina, Wrathe and Rostian are the Children of the Apocaylpse.
exclaim The climax of the book is when Oriel must decide between saving the world and ending it to begin again.

Quick Story
Aaron and I met in Pre-IB/Challenge Chemistry in Fall 2003. We became best of friends, both liking each other automatically but never saying it.

I remember the first day he walked through the door. Our eyes met and it felt like slow motion, but we were too nervous to say anything to the other.

By Spring, 2004, we were closer than ever. I had dated four other guys that year, and had gotten an image of an emotional needy clingy person, which I didn't like. Aaron was the quiet type and had never had a girlfriend. Most people thought he was cold.

It was a mistake of a close friend of mine that we ended up together. Aaron asked a friend of mine, Kayla, if she'd go with him to a nearby amusement park because his father's company was offering free tickets. Kayla thought he was asking her out. In truth, Aaron was too shy to ask me to go, so he asked my close friend in order to ask her if I'd be interested in dating him.

Three days after the incident, I e-mailed Aaron about how much I liked him and that I didn't want to break Kayla and him up. Instead of mailing me back that he and Kayla weren't together, which was the best I was expecting, he not only said that but also that he loved me.

That was May 4th, 2004. We've been together ever since.

Personality: Aaron's a little bit shy but outgoing as well. He's a techie and loves computers, as well as Magic, and, well, me <3 We seem like complete opposites on the outside - He's a techie and I'm artsy, he loves Magic the Gathering and I love piano - but our personalities mix very well. Though he's very catholic - our second date was to his confirmation - he actually has similar views on what God is. I believe there's an encompassing spirit and many of my views lean toward buddism, pagan, and the like. He believes similarily in an encompassing spirit as well, but his leans more toward standard views of a single God. He loves to make me laugh and we constantly get into tickle or play fights. He trips over his words a lot, which I love to play off of (Skocks instead of socks, Kurt has a boyfriend instead of Kurt has a girlfriend, and slurring sasauges). Things like that make me laugh and I think he does it on purpose. He's always out to make me happy, just as I always am with him. We often like to sit and talk about our future together. We can spend hours upon hours talking without interruption.

However, if I'm comfortable with the person, I'm a joker. I love to laugh and will do almost anything to make the other person laugh or have a good time.
