MiKu ThE hEaRtLeSs
Story: One summer day, Miyu was going through her apartment for a very late spring cleaning, as she is a major packrat, when she stumbled across an old-looking shoebox. The box was unmarked, and normally one would be smart enough to know that unmarked boxes could be potentially dangerous and should not be opened, especially if they had the words "DO NOT OPEN" in blazing red on the side. But Miyu was so excited at this new discovery, she didn't notice it and went ahead and opened the darn box.
"Wow!" She exclaimed, peering inside. Inside the box lay tons upon tons of tiny keychains. Not stopping to ponder how they could all fit inside such a tiny space, Miyu lifted one from her index finger and examined it. It looked like some sort of virtual pet, and; being the virtual pet freak she was, the girl squealed with joy and turned it on.
"Welcome to Alternate Reality," The screen read. "Please fill in your personal information."
"This is so cool!" Miyu chirped, entering her name, age, gender, hair color, and all sorts of other personal questions which a virtual pet should not be asking. She pressed the finish button, and the screen suddenly went blank. "Whaaaa?!" Frantically, Miyu pressed all the buttons, trying to get the device to turn back on. Though she loved virtual pets, Miyu had forgotten one crucial thing - all of the other ones she had had died. >_>;
"But I didn't do anything," she groaned, setting the green and navy blue keychain on her dresser. "Ah...if I keep them, I'll probably kill them all. I should give them away or something. Aw, man!" With a reluctant sigh Miyu replaced the box's cover and took it outside. She looked around for a spot to put it, and eventually decided on leaving the box on a nearby bench. Maybe somebody more reliable would find them.
When noon turned to a brisk evening, Miyu flicked off the TV and crawled into bed. Since that morning she couldn't keep thoughts of the cute little toys out of her mind. She yawned greatly and closed her eyes.
And snapped them back open when a moment later a male voice griped, "Hey, what are you doing?! Wake up!"
With wide eyes, Miyu sat up and stared at the young man sitting on the desk next to her. He was dressed in clothes that resembled the uniform of a medival knight, with a handsome face and elegant silver hair that caught the shine of the moon from her window. He had a slender body with a strong build, and looked like quite the lady killer.
Unfortunately for him, Miyu took it literally.
"BURGULAR!!!!" She shouted, turning swiftly to pick up a wooden baseball bat that lay on the floor beside her bed. Which was rather odd, because Miyu had never played baseball in her life. o_O The young man jumped off her desk in a panic.
"Wait, wait!" He waved his hands hurriedly. "You've got it wrong! I'm not-"
Miyu took a heavy swing at him, and the mystery man just barely dodged it. "You're gonna kill someone with that thing!!" He took advantage of Miyu's miss and grab her arms gently.
"Let me GO!" She screamed, struggling to break free.
"Shhh!" He whispered with a frown. "You're gonna wake everyone up."
When she finally stopped squirming Miyu dropped the bat and shook her head in confusion. "Who are you?"
"Don't you recognize me?" The man smirked, releasing her. Seeing the baffled expression on her face, he sighed. "Your name is Miyu. You just turned eighteen. You've been living in this apartment for six months. Your job is-"
"Oh my god." Miyu interrupted him. "You're a stalker too?!"
"NO!" He shouted aggrivatedly, nearly falling over. "I'm your Daisuki."
"Daisuki?" She repeated cluelessly.
"Yes, Daisuki." The man said. "It means I'm your Guardian. When you enter in your information in that keychain, Alternate Reality finds a suitable match for you and assigns them to protect and assist you in the real world."
Miyu gasped, "You're the dead tamagotchi!!!!" She shouted, poking him to make sure he was solid. Sweatdropping, the Daisuki replied "Well as you can see, I'm no longer trapped in the digital scape, and I'm definetly not dead." He gave her a moment longer to inspect him before asking in a deadpanned voice, "Satisfied?"
"Yup!" She said, rolling back on the balls of her feet. "Does this mean you're gonna follow me around places?"
"Yes."
"And go to the grocery store with me?"
"Yes."
"And go to the movies and go ice-skating and visit my friends and go to work and go to theme parks-"
"YES!"
"Well then!" Miyu grinned and clapped her hands together. "As my new roommate, it's your turn for breakfast duty in the morning, Dai! Oh, and you're gonna need a place to sleep! I think I have an air mattress in here somewhere..."
"I have a name, you know," The young man grumbled.
"Well you never told me," The girl buried in mountains of junk replied, her voice slightly muffled. So much for the cleaning...
"Aros," The knight said. "Now go outside and get the box before the other Daisuki's get sat on!"
With a smile, Miyu did just that, and set the box on the desk. It was a good thing it hadn't rained while they'd been out there. Aros had settled himself onto the chair, refusing to sleep anywhere else. "This is just fine," he had said, despite Miyu's insisting it wasn't, and so Miyu had no other choice but to let him stay there.
"Goodnight, Aros," She said, curling up under the covers.
The silver-haired Daisuki allowed a moment's silence to pass between them before he answered, "Goodnight, Miyu."
"By the way," Miyu grinned. "You've got clean-up duty tomorrow."
"WHAAAAAT?!"
