Well this is The Balance Charity.
It is named The Balance Charity because I think one of the most important things in living a successful life is balance. It is also connected to me through my astrological sign, which is Libra and is represented by a balancing scale. This charity will also reflect balance. All donation amounts will be equal, but you will also receive the equivalent of the effort you give in. It is also a balance between leniency and order. In other words, I run it in a relaxed fashion, if you allow me to.
Please read every main post on the front page (posts 1-5, and 10).
It may seem like a lot... because it is. But it will be worth it.

Alright, there are two ways you can get a donation here.

Good for some quick cash, but very specific qualifications so pay close attention! May only fill out The Form once. It is a good idea to do The Form anyways, but an even better idea to do The Form and then stick around for more donations, via The Original Philosophy. Rules and regulations are not listed in this post. Keep an eye out for them on the front page. Who said it was going to be easy? The qualifications are only stricter, not because I'm mean or don't like giving donations, but because people tend to take advantage of a lenient form system.

Obtaining donations via The Original Philosophy may seem tedious and unrewarding, however in the long run it is the way to go. Unlimited number of donations. The Original Philosophy can be more rewarding in terms of gold and experiences. Technically it is easier, it just takes time invested in it. Rules to earning a donation via The Original Philosophy are listed below.

- TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THE CHARITY.i cannot stress this enough. in order for this place to stay open, it needs to be active, and fun. that can be accomplished if there are more people here. the amount of people here does not decrease your chances of getting to donated to so invite as many as you want.

- Chill. Donations by The Original Philosophy come easy once i get to know you. dont expect to be recieving donations left right and centre, i wont always have the funds or motivation to send something your way. gotta be patient. You will be rewarded.

- Post a lot. Im not gonna be here to bump up this thread too often, if you want others to also get donations, or if you want it to live: bump it. You'll have a higher chance of getting donated to if you're active.

- Join in conversation. Bumping is good, but its 2nd to conversation. Im more likely to donate to you if you talk than if you are all silent.

- The Original Philosophy dictates that each gold donation should be 2000 gold. However, I may clump 2000's together if I see fit.

Okay, these are a couple of the customs I have for donating and the thread in general. The reason they are not rules is because, well rules are made to be broken. But everyone conforms to customs... for some reason.
Subject to change so check back every once in a while (I know you won't, so I'll just announce it)

- donations by the charity will not be recorded for two reasons.
1) I'm too lazy and secondly,
2) if you've been donated to, you already know who you are right? =/ no point

- donations to the charity are not expected. if you are a good person here, then donations are not necessary to increase your chances of getting something back.
if you have a "i give you some, you give me some" mentality and you are not very active here, sadly it does not increase your chances of getting donated to either.

- unlike the donations we give, if you donate anything to the charity it will be noted down along with your name. this is simply because these people deserve recognition.

- there will be no black/white list. if you are an obnoxious person you will merely be removed from the thread. if you are an amazing person, chances are you don't need a white list to tell you that =]

- Respect other thread goers. you can still respect someone who you disagree with or dont like, so that means i understand you might just not get along.

- Generally, stretching a page is frowned upon. However, if it's a hilarious image which you can't find a way to scale down (you can do it with photobucket), or something loooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggg for the sake of humour or exaggeration then feel free to post it

- Don't whine &or complain &or beg. I hate it =P Regular whining about work, school, homework is seen as a basis for conversation so its cool. basically dont whine about donation amounts. Other whining: I love it

- If you're unsure about the clarity of these rules and how they related to what you want to say, go ahead and say it. I will tell you if it's unacceptable

- all are accepted here. rich, poor, smart, stupid, young, old, newbs, elitists, grammar freaks, chatspeakers, etc. whether you all will get along though, that's a different story... oh also, your favourite cereal has to be corn flakes

The Milestone Contest

Start: August 19 2008, 2:00PM EST
End: to be disclosed

This contest revolves around the idea of gold being added to a prize pot for every milestone page or post number that this charity reaches. At the end of the contest period, a raffle will be held to determine who takes home the pot.

The first place winner will receive 66% of the gold in the pot.
The second place winner will receive 33% of the gold in the pot.
And the runner-up's runner-up will receive 1% of the gold in the pot.

Here are the milestones that will add gold to the prize pot:
exclaim 5,000 gold for every 1000 post marker (20000, 21000, 22000, etc)
exclaim 8,000 gold for every 100 page marker (1400, 1500, 1600, etc)
exclaim SPECIAL 50,000 GOLD bonus for every ten thousand post marker not including post 20,000 because we are so close to it (30000, 40000, 50000 etc.)
exclaim SPECIAL 50,000 GOLD bonus for every thousand page marker (2000, 3000, 4000, etc)

Rules
- Number your bumps or posts
- In order to get your name on a raffle ticket, you must bump a minimum of 400 times.
- Every additional 200 bumps will get you another raffle ticket.
- STRICTLY No mules

* Donations through the Original Philosophy and The Form will still be given to contestants, so even if you are not a winner you still get something from the contest.

Depending on the number of tickets you have, i will choose an amount of random numbers from 1-78. Each number has a reward, which you can check on the prize table. The prize table will be put up on the front page, so you can see what you have won.

for example: you bumped 1045 times. you get 5 tickets. i randomize 5 numbers from 1-75. say your numbers are 42, 3, 61, 92, 30.
you will get the prizes listed next to those numbers in the prizes chart!

well, this is a little section about me.

But first lets get to some requirements when filling in The Form:

- Must bump (numbered) 10 times before posting The Form. bumps have to be all at once, i dont want to search through the pages.
- Your account must be at least 2 months old with at least 1000 posts, and plenty of recent activity
- Must have a quest thread that looks appealing, and has a suitable amount of pages (my judgement) and is at least 2 weeks old.
- Must write the "The Form" exactly as written here before posting the actual form which can be found somewhere on this page.
- Must have at least 10% of the gold needed to buy the item you are questing for

i started gaia around April 05. I believe. razz I been through a lot, been doing a lot on gaia since. Made many friends, more enemies, etc. This is the first charity I have created (if I can remember right confused ). I expect everything to go chill. smile Although I dont frequent gaia as much as i used to before, i still enjoy it and will usually check in at least a couple times a week.

Interests
i have so many interests i could not list them all here. but this is for starters
- NHL hockey. i love it. favourite team is the leafs. (Im from Toronto) I also play hockey (goalie)
- reading. i love a good book and i like to read just for knowledge.
- music. i try to lsiten to a little bit of everything, but i am a little biased towards hip hop music. some of my favourite artists are coldplay, nas, linkin park, m.i.a., the gorillaz, alicia keys, the killers, aerosmith... and thats as many different genres i can think of. i just love music in general

Basically all my gold. just so you can get an idea about how often i might give out donations, if you were wondering. if i have less than 10k, chances are i be more picky about what to give who

I will update whenever i feel like it. if I think it is too far away from what the actual amount is, I'll change it. i can't be bothered to change it ery 1k or whatever

Okay, so these arent really frequently asked questions. most of these questions have probably only been asked once or twice, but i just want them here for everyone's reference, and if you are just curious about stuff and you like to read. burning_eyes

Why dont you ever have contests?

The funding. I think bumpers/dice rollers/whatever deserve more than i have to offer. When I feel i have enough gold, i'll have contests.

Why do I only get 2k/6k donations?

For the 2k, it's because I dont want to give you 20k all at once and have you leave. Its a marketing scheme homie, keeps em coming back for more. As for the 6k donations, screw off, thats enough.

I've been here for a while and haven't gotten a donation. What up with that busta?

I notice everyone who posts here. If you haven't gotten a donation, its because I think you need to do more to get one. If you come back every couple of days to post once or twice, to me its not really worthy of a donation. It also depends on my personal mood and other stuff, I try to donate in a balanced fashion.

Can I PM you?

Yes. My PM box is never below 90% full though (this has changed with the storage upgrade, temporarily), so it might not get through.

Can I use a mule here?

Yeah, as long as you tell me so. The way I see it even if you are using a mule here, you are still spending the time and energy to post here. Just don't pots on your main and mule at the same time.

Can I quote the front page?

Yeah. I dont really get upset about a lot of stuff, I'm pretty lenient on rules.

Are you rich?

Not really. I have a couple of rare items, but most of my stuff is useless. I show you how much gold I have in my funds post, so judge for yourself. I'm not very items/gold oriented on gaia, im pretty sure I could be rich if I wanted to.
