July 2025 Angel Item Avi Challenge

about this/why this challenge
hello! I wanted to start hosting these since angel items often feel
a bit niche in style, or it doesn't feel usable for different styles/fashions
and I wanted to encourage people to try challenging that mindset.
(if anyone wants/is hosting a contest version of this, lmk!)

this month's angel item:

go ahead and post any (dream/builder) avis using the item, but!
out of the box this item seems to fit [femme, mer, pretty/flowy], so here are some
optional item/pose specific challenges:

top/dress in a masc vibing look
seer or mystical person with the arm pose and pearl
a diver or snorkeller posing in/on the shell
user suggested or requested challenges go here
- witch/mage/wizard bc your host has a bias (bloodwitch)
- suggestion (username)

talking points/discussion:

what pose(s) do you find the most versatile? (in general vs for yourself)
what poses you think or have found to be most challenging to use and why
what colour or colour schemes are you excited to see this on, and which ones would you personally want?

schoolboy's razor gets removed if you try to use it with less than 3 hairpins

agape and sketchbook hairpins don't do anything

mini-tutorials courtesy of aemperatrix:

to grab the link to an avatar that has been saved to a favorites collection:

1. select the avatar and click on it—this will bring up a modal window

2. go down to the 'share' link section and click; make sure your cursor is on the line

3. right click + click "select all"

4. right click again + copy or (on windows) ctrl+c

to grab the image itself:

1. simply right click on the image + select "copy link address"

2. voila

to grab the image itself (mobile, Android edition):

1. tap the favorite
2. long press the image
3. select open image in new tab

4. copy the image link from the address bar of the new tab

My 2 cents on the item:
Ooohhh this is very femme coded. Though really, technically it's only the dress pose that's difficult to repurpose as is for masc fashion.
I kinda feel sad this didn't get released in May (bc mermay. But it is what it is)
Mild ??? that we have long hair but there's no agape cutting avaliable.
Hope the two midori greens gets a unique tags just for searching purposes.

Item is cute and will be going into my mermay collection; will prob get the most use from the necklace pose.

Would love to have just the (large) pearls as an option too. Will be fun to get those in different colours, especially on the necklace, so it can look like candy. (Bonus points if the necklace isn't one solid color).

I was hoping that the big clam would be useful with mermaid avatars, but I've gone through all my mertails and just............ like 2 work. I'm sad. The front is on a pretty high layer b/c it's meant to cut off anything so your avatar sits in it. And if a tail does layer, it cuts through the bottom of the shell. And the shell is a bit high, as well unless you kneel, but that brings the whole avatar palette down.
So Poseidon's Descendant kinda works, but really just the Floating Flower one shows off sitting in the clam b/c it's higher up and the tail faces the same direction as the avatar.

another gripe I have, the clam shell's back cuts off long hairs, so eh.......

My pleasure! I was happy to host, but was also very happy to see you made this thread!

Yeah the item this month doesn't feel as versatile to me as some of the ones we've had in recent months. I wasn't particularly inspired by any of the poses. I do like some of the poses and this shade of green isn't that hard to work with. The hair is very ??? to me. Click to favorite.

I ended up just using the arms and ended up with this cute kinda dutchess like portrait that I'm kinda in love with. This was maybe a little easy for me because the Kaguya color scheme is my absolute favorite so I have so many items with it~!
