July 2024 Angel Item Avi Challenge

about this/why this challenge:
hello! I wanted to start hosting these since angel items often feel
a bit niche in style, or it doesn't feel usable for different styles/fashions
and I wanted to encourage people to try challenging that mindset.
(if anyone wants/is hosting a contest version of this, lmk!)

this month's angel item:

Alaricorn Gait

go ahead and post any (dream/builder) avis using the item, but!
out of the box this item seems to fit into [fantasy/warrior/casual] vibes, so here are some
optional item/pose specific challenges:

use the legs, sitting or standing
- monster centaur! —use the legs but make the humanoid top half of the centaur monstrous in some way
try going formal!
be interesting to see very femme looks for all the poses, imo
horns (first pose), bonus points for using it on a non centaur avi
the quiver pose, since it's quite interesting
suggest a challenge to be put here!

talking points/discussion:

what pose(s) do you find the most versatile? (in general vs for yourself)
what poses you think or have found to be most challenging to use and why

post 2: cuts
post 3-5: overview of people's submissions + fav'able avis
post 6: mini tutorial on how to get the link to an avatar that has been saved to a favorites collection

mini-tutorial courtesy of aemperatrix.

to grab the link to an avatar that has been saved to a favorites collection:

1. select the avatar and click on it—this will bring up a modal window

2. go down to the 'share' link section and click; make sure your cursor is on the line

3. right click + click "select all"

4. right click again + copy or (on windows) ctrl+c

to grab the image itself:

1. simply right click on the image + select "copy link address"

2. voila

to grab the image itself (mobile, Android edition):

1. tap the favorite
2. long press the image
3. select open image in new tab

4. copy the image link from the address bar of the new tab

challenge ideas:
- for me personally the most awkward pose on these things are always the unicorn horns (i...don't like unicorns,), so a double dog dare to use that pose specifically, bonus points for using it on a **non** centaur avi?

I decided to turn this into a triple gauntlet for myself by combining two of this thread’s challenges (use of the 1st pose, which, as previously stated, I don’t like, because I don’t really see the appeal of unicorns / don’t like these unicorn horn poses on items in general + go the femme route; for bonus points I went into the direction of the very specific CB-dweller type of cute femme) with a personal one by making myself use Sprinkles.

ooo...I mean, now that you said it, I’m quite curious about those views. :']

but that’s good to know in general!! I don’t use the avi builder all that much anymore, it’s usually a last-resort effort when an idea I have is too vague or sth, as the builder affords a more comprehensive view of items + their poses. plus I like the big ole images from the closet view more xD

if you do end up equipping it, at least you won't have to rebuild it for the builder.
I usually would rather open up and try on every pose from out of invo than deal with the builder; I find it too overwhelming? in part bc it can't filter out individual poses

nodnod I have the same issue tbh. especially if I don’t quite have the mental energy or, like, alacrity, in the moment, to be fully present and sift through, which is often.

plus you’re mostly a mobile user, I can only imagine how much more overwhelming that’d be on a tiny (relative to desktop, at least) screen x.x
