I've been on gaia a while, especially roleplaying, I'm currently coming off of hiatus and looking to get back into writing in my free time. I don't sleep much, if at all. I have a dog that lives with my parents because my partner is allergic, just thought that was an interesting fact.

                What is there to say about me? I come from a large family, many of my relatives live with us - grandparents, cousins - always on rotation. Always eating. I've enjoyed helping my mother and her sisters in the kitchen for as long as I can remember. I was born with pretty sharp senses, I've got a sense of smell like a bloodhound. A lot of the time it's a pain, what with all the perfume and body odor floating around in the world, but when I'm cooking and trying to identify the best ingredient? It's a damn godsend. Unfortunately, I come from an old-fashioned family. My father, bless him, is a religious man who doesn't feel a man belongs in the kitchen, that it is reserved for the woman. I call bullshit. I do not get along well with my father, I participate in school activities other than cooking to try and appease him, but I also have two other brothers to distract him with. I only want to cook, I will not let that go to waste in the family business, car sales.

                I wonder, a lot actually, what it would be like to have siblings; then I see siblings that argue all the time and then I think that maybe it wouldn't be as great as my mind thinks it would be. I'm the only child of a offbeat American woman and a very proper French business man; I grew up in Hawaii before we moved to Nevada. Growing up, my dad always tried to get me to take business courses, really anything that could give me a head start in running his business. Not a chance dad. My mom, being a woman who loved to travel and try new things, pushed me to do the same - I suppose that's why I was closer to her, she never put me into a box of expectations. After going to business meetings with my dad, I'd rid myself of the fancy suit and race down to the car lot - where all the junkers and "never going to see the road again" kind of cars. Anything to do with cars just, it's fascinating. After my mom died in a car crash; I became a little - some people would say obsessed - with cars. That's when I got into racing - my curiosity got the better of me and I found the world of street racing. I loved the adrenaline of the race, the thrill of possibly getting caught. If there was no race going on; I'd play "getaway driver" for the street artists, made some good friendships. My father would say they were the scum of the streets; but they were much better people than the posh business people he had meetings with. I suppose I was pretty excited to come to this school, if for no other reason than to forgo the business meetings I went to with my dad.

                My family is a long line of musicians, father being the talented flutist and my mother a gifted violinist, both also being prodigious singers. Obviously, such gift has been in my blood, though the piano has become an instrument of my choice since I was five years old. Yes, I do have my standards when it comes to music, but do you expect my family to be picture perfect? Tell that to my dad who is actually a homophobic, and my mom who is still unaware of my true sexuality but still coercing me to socialize and interact like normal people even with the fact that I have anxiety. During social gatherings in which my family is invited as guests, don't expect me to be mingling around with people; I am oftentimes alone at the table, always wishing that I can just stay at home. Frankly, they allowing me to attending this academy, "to make new friends", as they say simply, has become a challenge for me. But being a determined person I am, it'll take more than that for me to give up on this new journey.
