Title: Fourth Prince of House Silvershade, MoonVeil Apprentice
Sylrae Silvershade is the youngest son of the High King, the fourth prince born into a court defined by rivalry, tradition, and quiet cruelty. Unlike his elder brothers each groomed for command and battle, Sylrae entered the world as an afterthought, a child expected to fade politely into the background of royal history.
One of the King’s wives, fearing Sylrae’s bloodline, poisoned him in secret while he was still young. His mother, a princess from a neighboring kingdom sent to strengthen alliances, had been murdered shortly after giving birth. Sylrae was left unaware of the significance of his heritage: he was the sole prince of another kingdom, a fact that, combined with the unpredictable nature of succession, made him a target. The poison, ancient and deliberate, was intended to kill, but instead, it reshaped him. As Sylrae grew, it softened his features, lightened his voice, and cloaked him in a graceful, feminine beauty. His body never developed the strength or endurance of his brothers, and the court was quick to judge him weak.
As the fourth and youngest prince, Sylrae had no shield against such judgment. While his brothers trained with blade and spear, he struggled to keep pace. Each failure carved its own quiet wound, but where his body faltered, his mind awakened.
The poison, however, had an unexpected effect: it heightened his sensitivity to magic, attuning him to currents and subtleties others failed to perceive. Among the elves renowned across the realms as powerful and disciplined arcane spellcasters such awareness alone would have marked Sylrae as gifted. But his potential went further. His mother’s bloodline, long tied to powerful magic, gave him a rare affinity that caught the attention of the kingdom’s archmage.
The archmage, known only as MoonVeil, took Sylrae as an apprentice. She teased and challenged him, guiding his powers while preparing him for dangers he could not yet see. Yet even as Sylrae grew stronger, a plot against him came to light one that could silence him forever. To protect him, a decision was made. Sylrae would leave the court and venture into the world.
Now, as a fledgling adventurer, Sylrae faces uncertainty. Will he reclaim his mother’s kingdom? Will he carve a path as a traveling mage, discovering magic and treasure? Or will the forces that sought to destroy him finally catch up before his journey truly begins? The youngest prince, once dismissed as fragile, may yet surprise the world and the court that underestimated him.
