I would rather do what the massage techniques are intended to do, though: increase physical health and mental health, lead people toward conditions to live with themselves in where they can better be the people that they should be in the world, and further spiritual ends to very similar effect to yoga practice. It is almost besides the point whether or not I could get away with enjoying peoples bodies; rather it's upholding that higher purpose, and maintaining the basis of the profession while also keeping my prospectively-wonderful career and steady comfortable income.
Of course, I think I'll be happy anyway ninja and the world will survive my prurient mind... I... just... damn do I ever want to give "special" massages to... well... just about anyone! redface (yeah, it's summertime over here lol ) I have to screw.. erm... I mean put my head... no, erm.. I... confused
... Anyway...
Actually, I think that it might be harder for me to work in counseling without wanting to help people more intimately. In the job you've chosen there doesn't seem to be any room whatsoever for dating the people you would be helping. There's a certain honor and privilege in that job. I want that more than I want to have nude oily twister sessions with people.
I'd rather not have to deny handjobs to massage clients... but I actually don't think that I'd be all that bothered by providing them, either; at worst it would be touching a repulsive person's genitals, which barely even seems unpleasant.
Yes, that's our perspective on lecherousness on the massage table. A part of me looks forward to those athletic women hoping for sports massage therapy (which actually does a really good job, supposedly, preparing a body and recovering a body from extreme exercise) and hopes that they have your attitude ninja And that's where I have a little worry... it's against the code of ethics accepted by registered masseurs to be sexual in any way in sessions (and generally a source of apprehension in those considering massage, particularly from someone of the opposite gender), and so slightly immoral to have sexual motivations in one's work. People are expecting a professional and discrete manner, and I can see how it would be a betrayal of trust.
As sensual oil massage combined with grinding happens to be at the top of my list of fantasies... sweatdrop I may have to stop feeding my inner pervert if I'm really serious about becoming a massage therapist neutral :cries: I guess that I do sort of consider it a test of my strength of character as well -- can I master my domain? lol
It looks like I'll need to wait until february on account of needing monies, but I think that I actually want to become a massage therapist. Or something like that, anyway. It was basically where I was going to end up eventually through yoga, I think, and it definitely pays better than teaching yoga. My only worry is that I may be judged as a pervert and not given a chance in that profession... or, that I may indeed find myself appreciating the opportunity to rub oil all over peoples bodies a bit more than massage therapy generally welcomes lol
So I'm wondering... how does one stop being a randy b*****d when one doesn't really want to be?
Yurright, if you have some basis for confidence that that reality will manifest. Don't pay the ferryman till you're on the other side and all that funky jazz.
I wish I had the qualifications to work that sort of job (not so much the counseling sex-workers thing though... or at least not doing that in particular). I've been seriously thinking about volunteering at a crisis phone to get a taste of what it would be like to help people with pressing problems.
Yes... if your lemurness and/or whatever is behind your potential as a social boon to the world is compromised, then it reads like you have your priorities straight 3nodding What would you take? What have you taken?
I'm very tempted to throw myself into psychology. Work with the system long enough to get some sort of established foot in the industry/door, then do healing of a more flexible and/or holistic nature. It would help people get roadblocks of the way of their progress in life, and so be just as useful to most people as more esoteric yogas. Also, school would be awesome.
Not bad. Working.. moving around... my lifestyle seems a full time job in and of itself right now, not including anything I'm actually earning income from confused Living with a roof over my head and some privacy present certain opportunities... and peace of mind, the latter being something I'm ironically lacking in these days.
I've been doing a lot of reading... thinking about college instead of Ashram on account of my foot acting up again. I can't seem to do Hatha Yoga at all.
