Valiant Knight to Villain
Darkness surrounds my barricaded heart,
a fog descending upon a swampy forest.
Do not come too close,
barbed wire was set to protect me from further harm.
Dignity shot from the sky,
with your over-baring touch,
pressing me farther than wanted.
While your mask flourished with affection,
bright, alluring and tempting,
then I realized your one and only goal.
How foolish I had been,
to take in your poison kiss,
to have been held in your 'loving' arms.
I thought you were my valiant knight,
yet you were only a fickle page boy,
a sorry sight looking for a quick pleasure fix.
Well sorry I wasn't that easy,
sorry for your encounter with rejection,
no matter how painful it may be.
But what I'm not sorry for,
is refusing to nourish your piteous selfish need.
Pushing you away when you really wanted to.
Now muffle not your worthless apology,
leave me here with broken heart,
shattered like fragile painted glass.
I'm not a doll to be toyed with then cast aside,
only to be used again when wanted.
You can say I hold a grudge,
and baby, you're probably right.
But remember this you selfish fool,
the villain in the story of my teenage years,
you got me once, but you can't get me again!
