User Image[appearance] At thirteen years old Elayne is just starting to go through puberty. To her delight it is affecting her most in the height department, causing her to grow 5 inches over the summer putting her at about 5’2” now. She is mostly skinny with long legs and arms which aid her in swimming, one of Elayne’s favorite activities. Although lacking in curves Elayne likes her figure for the most part, not having any real qualms with her appearance. She was graced clear skin from her dad, so acne was nearly never a problem for Elayne. If she had to pick one thing she didn’t like it was her abnormally large feet. Although they were no good for finding shoes they were excellent for swimming, so they weren’t all that bad.

Elayne’s normally sunkissed face is framed by long, chestnut brown hair that she most often wears down. Sometimes she can be seen wearing it in a more cute variation, such as a ponytail or something, but that’s not extremely common. Elayne’s skin tends to be tan and her hair graced with natural highlights from all the time she spends outside. Her eyes are almond shaped and chocolate brown,much to Elayne’s dismay. She thinks green eyes are the prettiest and wishes she had them, but that was one thing she didn’t inherit from her dad.

Elayne likes to wear comfortable clothes that allow her to move such as jeans and t-shirts, although she will occasionally switch up for something a bit cuter. Although she doesn’t spend much time focusing on boys Elayne wouldn’t mind having one, and looking cute wouldn’t hurt those chances. When in uniform she doesn’t do anything special really, just wearing what she is required and usually carring her things in a dark purple canvas messenger bag her mum had gotten her before her first year.

User Image[history/biography] Elayne was the second child born to Victoria and Matthew Harkin. Matthew is a muggleborn wizard from Ireland, the third of four children one of two boys. Victoria is a halfblood witch from Wales, the middle of three children and the only girl. Elayne was raised in Ireland and all of her aunts and uncles were and still are very present in her life. She has a dozen or so cousins, but none of them go to Hogwarts. Most are too young, and the ones who aren’t all went to other schools like Durmstrang and Beauxbaton. They all stay in touch through letters though. Her entire family is very loving, everyone being supportive of one another and very close.

Elayne’s brother William (Will) was born two before her and they were very close. Will was her best friend and an amazing older brother, always protective of Elayne and there for her in any way she needed him. The summer before Will was to go to Hogwarts he was playing with Elayne out on the coast, where they often played. He jumped into the dark water off a high cliff, not really paying attention to what he was doing. Will hit his head and went unconscious, drowning before Elayne could get to him.

Will’s death took a huge toll on the whole family and it was a while before any of them were close to normal again. What did it for Elayne was going to Hogwarts. Her parents were always upbeat and stressed to their children to look at the positives and be grateful for everything they had. So Elayne went into Hogwarts with open eyes and tried to stay positive about anything. She didn’t tell a soul about her brother, not feeling close enough to anyone to share that intimate detail of her life. Although Elayne isn’t a recluse she found it hard to connect with those around her. She loved to make friends and longed for some of her own, but she simply hadn’t been that lucky thus far.

User Image[personality] Elayne has a tendency to come off as awkward to others. For the most part she’s quiet and tends to keep to herself, but by no means does she consider herself a quiet person. Her family knows her as a bubbly ball of energy who loves to have fun, but that just doesn’t show much to the kids at Hogwarts. Elayne is shy around new people and not good at making new friends, so she hasn’t gotten the chance to show her true colors or anyone yet.

Swimming was always one of Elayne’s favorite activities mainly because it involves water and she’s good at it. Her long arms and legs and big feet paired with her long, lean body make moving through the water pretty easy. Growing up on the coast of Ireland she swam a lot, but she lost interest in it when Will died. Elayne has started swimming again, but she doesn’t show the same thrill for it that she used to.

Elayne likes to read, but not a whole lot. Sitting in any one place for too long is boring to her and she often likes to switch up what she’s doing. She’s not great at schoolwork, tending to have a hard time concentrating on it, but by no means is she unintelligent. Elayne just lacks the motivation to apply herself and her grades suffer as a result.

One of Elayne’s biggest flaws is her temper. She didn’t always have a temper, it was something that developed after Will died. If you make her mad enough Elayne will freak out and start yelling, possibly even resorting to casting spells and such. If anyone were to mention Will it would probably set Elayne off, but lucky for her no one at Hogwarts knows about him, and she prefers to keep it that way.

Elayne isn’t disinterested in boys, but romance isn’t a top priority of hers. She has a hard enough time making friends, let alone getting a boyfriend. Although she would like to have a boyfriend Elayne doesn’t go around trying to find one or anything. She just looks at the boys around her and wishes and wonders, imagining what it would be like if she was different.

Death isn’t really a fear of Elayne’s since Will died. In fact, she sees death as a way to see Will again. However, after seeing the way her family reacted when Will died, Elayne doesn’t want to die just yet. She would never want to put her family through that again. What she does fear is losing another family member. Losing Will had such an affect on her Elayne doesn’t know if she could handle that again, especially if it was one of her parents. This fear of losing people has helped in keeping Elayne from getting too close to anyone at school. If she weren’t so scared she might try a little harder to make friends.
