Wars of the Heart 







We all wish it would go away,







That we didn’t say the things we say,







That things were together, everything’s alright,







Like the comfort we feel before we sleep at night.







Over time, as we grow old,







We learn the values of life to behold,







We learn of friendship, love, and fear,







About the things we once held dear,







Friends fight, take sides, we see tears in their eyes,







And we wish knew what to do.







But we never think, we never see,







What lies beyond our lies.







What will happen to me, what will happen to you?







Could we still do the same thing we do?







Are we still friends, or has the battle begun?







And even then, would we feel better if we won?







Whose side is right? Who is wrong?







Or was there even a reason at all?







Did we have the right?







To see the others cry,







Or even ourselves, all bent out of line.







Friends should be Friends,







Like family, close as blood,







But we fight and scream and when the battle is done…







We were back we stared, are we friends still, or…?







Do we all lie dead on the battle grounds,







Were only true friends have stood their ground.







And they look at us, as we lie dead,







And I remember the one that turned and said,







“I wish it didn’t happen, because nobody ever won,







I  only wish they could see what their hatred has done…”
