Okay, finally finished my first week of grad school. DEAR LORD. If law school is any more difficult than this, I don't know how the ******** you survived.
I get like twenty-five e-mails a day from the school, inviting me to be at this or that meeting, attend this or that reading... and god, everyone is such a freakin' social butterfly. It's like "Really guys, I understand the desire to get to know each other... but I don't know you well enough to WANT to go to a play with you all. Really." And the people here... can be really, really pretentious... I have no idea why I'm studying poetry now. I hate talking about poems. I don't want to listen to other people drone on and on about the "mobility" and "rhythm" of the poem... Ugh. Just two years. I can do two years. Never mind that I feel like I'm about ready to kill myself after just one week...
Also, teaching is a pain in the a**. It's kinda fun, but standing up there and talking for ninety minutes... or leading a discussion for ninety minutes... with a bunch of punk a** freshmen who don't know jack s**t about writing or even CARE about writing... yeah, it's just a lot more nerve-wracking than I wanted this semester to be.
Hee hee, finished traffic school. It was the stupidest thing... we basically sat there for two hours watching graphic videos of car accidents and the police officer was like "Okay, that's why you shouldn't speed. And that's why you should wear your seat belt. And that's why you should get the ******** out of the way of the fire truck coming straight toward you. And that's why you shouldn't drink and drive."
And we ended the two hours by watching Jay Leno make fun of stupid 911 calls. Mannnn I love Utah.
