If you go to Google Images and search "Wolfwood Trigun cosplay", you'll find a whole mess of photos of other Wolfwood costumes. Some are on blogs, which may give you some background. I would advise cutting/assembling the cross out of a foam blocks and then wrapping it in leather belts, although it looks like some people go for the unwrapped version.
