In other news I'm finally picking up the pieces of what should be my life. rolleyes
I'm a terrible procrastinator, and as a result I lose a lot of things because of it. Thank god I kicked my own a** this year.
A rofl moment if ever! xd
My aunt threw her annual christmas bash (it's practically a tradition) on christmas day, which is also one of my grandmothers birthdays. We call her Missy, not granny or anything like it. EVERYONE calls her Missy. xd even though her name is Mary. I think it's because she was a professional teacher all her working life until she retired, and was known for being a strict taskmaster, very proper. Well didn't she get piss drunk! My proper grandmother! She embaressed the crap out of my poor grandfather. rofl She kept *hinting* about things they do *later* (she's 66).
ANYHOO! At the dinner table everyone was gathered around, half of us were sloshed to hell and Missy is sitting right next to me at the head of the table. By that time I was on my second glass of wine, not in my best judgement. I got the bright idea to sing a drinking song, and of all songs it was Lorne Eliotte's "Tonight's the Night" Otherwise known as When Granny Gets Plastered. blaugh This Song!
No one caught on at first, then my sister started clapping and pretty soon we got the whole table singing clapping and stomping! (Auntie's table fits 20 people!!!)
By the end of it Missy was teetering so badly I had to hold her up. Then we brought out her birthday cake and of course auntie pipes up and tells her to make sure she blows all the candles out.
And what does my grandmother do? She takes one look at my aunt, the cake, and then my grandfather and says: "Of course I'll give it a proper blow job!." eek !!! rofl
If my image of Missy hadn't already been irrepairably cracked by then it was shot to hell after that.
Not only did she continue to be saucy for the rest of the evening, I heard stories that I NEVER would have guessed from her. (See table dancing at the airforce base in footnotes.)
My poor grandfather was red as a beet. I had to hide from her later because she liked the song so much that she kept wanting me to sing it. 4laugh
It was just a wonderful time with all the family too. All of my cousins are getting married and having babies so next christmas my aunts house is going to filled to the rafters with squirming toddlers. I can't wait to tickle them! I was dirt poor this christmas, but no one really minded that I only made paintings for my immediate family. Everyone was just glade to be there I guess. I dunno, this was the first year I've ever felt the family be this close. A lot of good things happened close to christmas. My sister invited me to come live with her (something I've been wanting to do for YEARS, just so I can get to know her better.) My mother got engaged to be married. My oldest cousin had twin boys. My father's home business picked up the slack it had been getting during my Nana's sickness (another grandmother, passed away in february). My best friend found out she was pregnant (she's been trying for a while). A lot of great stuff just seemed to happen all at once this year.
The only real black mark is that Great Granny Rita had a cardiac arrest a few days ago and is now on assisted breathing. It's unlikely she'll ever be able to breath on her own again. She's had a very long life though. Eighteen children, 70 years of marriage, through one war and out the other. Ever since Grampy Hartly died she hasn't been the same.
Other than that, I'm just oozing peppermint and goodwill towards all men. rolleyes
Fantastic! Well...words really can't describe how I feel. As I get older I'm noticing things that I was more or less blind to as a teenager. It's taking a while but my noggin is *finally* registering that my family isn't out to get me, they're just concerned that I haven't been living as well as I could.
Better. I'll be seeing a doctor soon. Apparently bowel problems run in my family so we're going to check and see if what I have is one of the problems we're prone to have. I really reaaaally hope it's not colon cancer.
Okay aside from a few familial issues. Bemoaning the fact that tektek is toast. On the upside, with the search-all option in the create-an-avatar I can make even more complex avatars than I ever could with tektek. It just takes more time.
