I get a lot of recommendations as it is, haha! The last shows I watched were actually Gainax shows made before Gurren Lagann, but still had that same feel to it.
Gunbuster and Diebuster (otherwise known as Gunbuster 2). The first was INCREDIBLY old, and... it wasn't amazing... I liked it, but it was... eh... but it's sequel was amazing. And, after watching the first one, it made the sequel even better. 3nodding
