Also omg yes, my avatar at first was white cause that was all the options there were at the time and I was super obsessed with the standard idea of beauty. All of my OC's were basically white too or they were mixed and it was hard to see any of them being black at the time. Colorism was/is such a itch and it was the reason for so many years none of my OC's were darker than a piece of caramel candy xd And I really didnt see any black avatars either. To be completely honest, darkening my character for the first time was a huge leap for me cause it was like "OH MY GOD SHES GONNA LOOK SO DIFFERENT AND ITEMS WONT FIT RIGHT! AAAAAAHHHHH!" Had a light brown avatar from like 08/09- 17/18 when I met my other friend on here who has a darker skinned avi like us and was like "Ooooh I like emotion_kirakira " . Talking to her honestly gave me the courage to make the jump and now Im like "Why did I wait so effing long? lol" & "She not even that dark xd " . Ive definitely been feeling how the color schemes look against her skin, theyre so much more vivid and brighter compared to before. Its even helped to change some of my OC's and its more diverse (helps cause I have more than 10+ of them rofl). Thankfully I havent seen any hate yet but Im sure its out there, cause youre not the only one whose said it. It does bother me though that gaia didnt take the reigns and n** it in the bud cause PG rating and ish when you have racists lambasting folks at every turn.
And high key I have recently thought about making one but I feel like there'd be a crap tone of issues, not limited to people being prejudice against it and folks even posing as someone of African descent to get in. Not to mention the ones who cape for other ethnicities who steal our culture and turn around to bash us when we get into uproar about it. I'd be fuminggggggggg if the later two happened cause that happens so much on facebook and its like dang can we get a freakin space to ourselves to vent frustrations that plague us daily without hate? emotion_facepalm
