She's a great character from a wonderful anime called... Mai Hime... and also from the second saga called Mai Ottome Hime....
Natsuki is a LONELY girl, really lonely.... and she's been dissapointed by most of her friends... and family.
Her mother new she was special so she sold her... Natsuki didn't realized that until the end of the cartoon... while all her life she was trying to kill the persons that killed her mother...
Natsuki's always protecting her ideals, and her self, because beyond that there's nothing...
until she met, the school girls... Mai, Mikoto,Shizuru and even Nao... some good girls... that became her friends... once she started to trust again...
she stopped feeling rival things for Nao and she started to feel pity... which Nao despited the most....
Shizuru, killed all the persons, and tried to love her by force... which scared to dead Natsuki and for the record
She found that her mother sold her....
so All her ideals were broken again...
Her friends weren't not her friends... the love was painful... and her family never was so....
there she was ALONE... standing nowhere....
Finally she desired death... who wouldn't?

And here's an important learning... an lesson...

DO NOT PLAY THE HERO WHEN THAT PERSON DOESN'T WANT TO BE SAVED....

one's each one's saviour... there's no one else needed....

that's how Natsuki founded herself again
ALONE... against the world...

Honey, in case you don't know, Shizuru did not force her to be lovers. Besides, Natsuki is involved with Shizuru in a romantic relationship in the next saga (look at Mai Otome specials) and states (in her prelude), that she rejected Takeda by sending him a letter and accepted Shizuru.
