After the war, Murrue Ramius is commissioned into the Orb military. She lives in the Orb Union with Andrew Waltfeld, whose lover Aisha was killed in a battle with Kira during the previous war. After the fall of Junius 7 forces Kira and Lacus to move in with Murrue and Andy, the two adults help take care of the orphans from Reverend Malchio's orphanage, as well as becoming guards for Lacus. Under the assumed name of "Maria Varnes", she works as the head of Morgenroete's Shipbuilding Section B. She meets Talia Gladys, when the Minerva's repairs were assigned to her department.

After the departure of Minerva, she, Andy, and Kira thwart an assassination attempt on Lacus. Afterwards, Murrue and the others reunite with many of the original Archangel crew, and flee from Orb in the refitted Archangel. At the time, Andy is her superior officer so she offers the command of the Archangel to him. He declines stating that this was her ship and he needed to focus on being one of the ship's mobile suit pilots (an excuse given by Murrue's lover, Mu La Flaga in the last war). Murrue once again assumes command of the vessel. Before leaving Orb territory, they "kidnap" Cagalli from her political wedding with Yuna Roma Seiran. Once out of Orb territory, she and the rest of the Archangel crew help Kira, Cagalli and Lacus in their mission to stop the war.

Since the end of the first Bloody Valentine War, Murrue has grown fond of Kira and sees him as a younger brother, taking time to offer advice to Kira when they are alone. Murrue helps to keep Kira's spirits up when Lacus leaves the Archangel to coordinate Terminal's efforts in space.

Murrue is reunited with her presumed-dead lover Mu La Flaga when Kira captures Earth Alliance officer Neo Roanoke who turns out to be an amnesiac Mu, rescued and given a new identity by LOGOS. Mu's memories of Murrue fully return when he saves her and the Archangel from the Minerva's "Tannhäuser" positron blaster cannon by using his mobile suit as a shield (much like he did in the last war). This time, Mu survives without a scratch thanks to Akatsuki's (a new high-performance Mobile Suit loaned to him by Cagalli) new reflective beam coating, which allows the Akatsuki to disperse most of the positron blast, while the remainder is blocked by the Akatsuki's beam barrier. Mu then promises to never leave Murrue again and states they should hurry up and finish the battle so they can go home, to which Murrue happily agrees.

Murrue Ramius & Mwu La Fllaga

They first met at Heliopolis, when Mwu requested permission to board the Archangel. They were comrades, and their conversations were based on business of commands and replies. Because Murrue became the captain rather unexpectedly, she had to trust in his plans and experience. She relied heavily on him for the first leg of their journey and listened to his advice.

When the Archangel landed in the desert, Mwu came to her office to discuss their gameplan, but also to check to see if she was alright. Even though they were still formal around each other, they do show concern for one another, and perhaps even flirt a bit. When the battle starts, again, she turns to him for advice, and he assures her, while being playful.

As their journey continued, they became more comfortable around each other. When they were in Orb, he took her side against Natarle. He tried to cheer her up, and she teased him in return. They've become friends at this point, as she relaxed as soon as Natarle left, even though Mwu was still there. She saw him more as a friend than a commander.

Murrue may have come to care for him more than a friend as she begged him not to leave after the battle outside Orb. Unfortunately, after landing in Alaska, Mwu was given the notice to be transferred to California. She didn't want him to leave, as she saw him off with tears in her eyes. He didn't want to leave either, because he went against his orders and went back to the Archangel.

After getting out of Alaska and finding their way to Orb, their relationship turned more intimate. When Murrue asked him why he came back at JOSH-A, he answered with a kiss.

When Mwu came back from Colony Mendel, he confided in Murrue about his father and Rau's words. He felt responsible and angry for the incident, and she was there to comfort him.

Before the final battle, Murrue went to the hanger to see him off. She looked worried, so he assured her that he would be right back, with victory in his hand. However, the Dominion prevented him from doing so, as he took the blow meant for the Archangel, protecting her life with his.

Despite Mwu being a flirt sometimes, he really cares for her, because he admires her strength and compassion. Because of his lonely childhood, and growing up in the military, Murrue's compassion and warmth really touched him. She taught him to trust and love. And he loved her enough to die for her.

Murrue can be hard on herself sometimes, and she needs Mwu there to help her relax and laugh a little. She can always depend on him to be there to offer an assuring word (or a slap on the back), and just be there for her.

Their relationship grew and developed gradually. They were comrades, then friends, before lovers. Their relationship is based on trust, admiration, and companionship. They believed in each other's abilities, and can always depend on each other for support.

Assuming command at the suggestion of Ensign Natarle Badgiruel, Lt. Ramius is a competent commanding officer with a good grasp of her crew's and her ship's capabilities. While she initially suggests that Lt. Mu La Flaga, the most senior officer present, should command the ship, he declines because his role as one of the ship's only pilots means he cannot stay on the bridge. He also suggests that since Murrue has been involved with the creation of the ship and the mobile weapons it will be carrying/fighting against, she would have best knowledge of their capabilities. Promoted to Lt. Commander when Archangel rendezvouses with Rear Admiral Lewis Halberton's 8th Fleet, Murrue descends to the planet's surface and lands in Africa, fighting her way through ZAFT forces commanded by Andrew Waltfeld (AKA "Desert Tiger" wink . The battered assault ship finally makes its way to Alaska, arriving several months after leaving Heliopolis (including an extended repair stopover in the Orb Union).

Captain Ramius deserts the Alliance forces after the Atlantic Federation's betrayal at JOSH-A (they leave her and a largely Eurasian defense force to die, judging Archangel's crew "tainted" by contact with Coordinator pilot Kira Yamato). Reunited with Yamato - now piloting the stolen ZGMF-X10A Freedom - Ramius and Archangel join the Orb forces at the Battle of Orb, trying to defend the island from the Alliance attack.

Just before Orb's leaders self-destruct its mass driver, Archangel and Orb's ship Kusanagi launch into space. At Mendel they join forces with the stolen support ship Eternal, a ZAFT renegade group led by Lacus Clyne and Andrew Waltfeld. United against the escalation of violence by both ZAFT and the Earth Alliance, they form the Three Ships Alliance.

In the Second Battle of Jachin Due, the Three Ships Alliance helps end the war.

Over the course of the war, Murrue develops a romantic relationship with Mu La Flaga. It's indicated by some of Murrue's dialogue with Mu, particularly in SEED phase 48, that in the past she loved a mobile armor pilot who was killed in action. On the final day of the war, Mu is apparently killed protecting Archangel from her sister ship Dominion's "Lohengrin" positron cannon attack. In grief and rage, Murrue orders the Archangel to return fire, destroying the Dominion and killing its captain, her former friend and First Officer of the Archangel, Lieutenant-Commander Natarle Badgiruel, along with Blue Cosmos Leader Muruta Azrael.

Kira Yamato

"So, you a Coordinator eh?"

Those were the first words that Mwu had said to Kira. He didn't mean any harm by it, even though it did cause some grief for everyone. Mwu, as a veteran pilot, had been impressed by the skills of this young Coordinator. He knew that Kira didn't want to fight, but because it was an emergency situation, he also knew that Kira had to fight. Mwu was the one who told Kira to "put his abilities to good use", and that motivated Kira to fight. Throughout SEED and Destiny, Kira didn't want to fight, but he realised that he had to because like Mwu had said, he was the only one capable of protecting his friends at the time.

Being the only two pilots on board, and Kira having no experience, Mwu took Kira under his wing, instructing him in the art of battle. Before Kira's first space battle, Mwu had calmed down his nerves by telling him to "think only of protecting yourself, and this ship." During the battle, when Kira was in trouble, Mwu came up with the plan to bail him out. Afterwards, when Kira sat in the cockpit, scared, it was Mwu who assured him "it's over, you did a great job."

Mwu was able to sympathesize with Kira somewhat about his reluctance to fight. He grew fond of the young boy, and was worried about his situation. Perhaps he felt guilty for being one of those who put Kira in that situation. He felt guilty that Kira was so young, yet he was suffering what a teenager shouldn't even worry about.

However, Mwu wasn't always kind about what he taught Kira. After the Archangel's decision to use Lacus as a hostage, Mwu reminded Kira (quite harshly) that the only reason they did that was because they were weak, and that neither of them had the right to criticize. After the destruction of the Blitz, Mwu lectured Kira to get him to see the realities of war as he saw it, reminding him that they were fighting a war to protect themselves, and that they were soldiers, not murderers. If didn't shoot, they would.

Refering to Kira by "kid", Mwu saw him as a younger brother, and Kira looked up to him as a mentor for guidance. They worked together as a team, protecting the Archangel from Heliopolis to Orb. Even though Mwu was Kira's superior, he never made Kira feel intimidated, treating him as a fellow comrade, and even a friend. At first, Kira referred to Mwu as "Commander" out of respect and courtesy. But later, he started to call Mwu by his first name, implying that he saw Mwu as a friend as well. Even though he may not show it openly, Mwu was bothered and saddened by the loss of Kira and Tolle, demanding to go out searching for him. He blamed himself for not able to protect them.

After Alaska, Mwu was surprised at Kira's maturity and decision. He asked Kira if he planned to fight alone, and Kira answerd that he had to try. His words and actions left Mwu pondering about what he should be fighting for. Kira's words, combined with what he had seen at Alaska and from Panama, influenced his decision to fight in the repaired Strike, for the cause that Kira had described. Before, Mwu had guided Kira, but this time, it was Kira who helped Mwu come to a decision, as Kira looked on proudly.

During the fight at Colony Mendel, when Mwu went into the colony interior, Kira decided to go after him to help. And he arrived in time to save Mwu from Rau. When Mwu ran after Rau into the building, Kira followed, because he was worried, and couldn't just wait for him out there. Besides, what would he tell Murrue if Mwu didn't come back?

Inside the colony, Rau revealed the secrets of their pasts, and how they were all connected. Mwu reminded Kira to keep his cool and not let what Rau said get to him. And he was angered by Rau's words to Kira about how he shouldn't exist, helping Kira to keep his cool. When Rau left, Kira helped the injured Mwu back to the Strike and back to the Archangel.

Through these circumstances, Kira and Mwu had become comrades, and friends. Mwu was Kira's mentor, but they helped each other along in their actions and decisions. They had a pretty close brotherly relationship.
