The Dusk Marsh dwellers seldom asked much of their king Thraan, but when they did where they ever mistreated for it. Thraan was a person the marsh dwellers had seen grow up from a Dregeling. It was true that Thraan was indeed from the Dusk Marsh, but he never would admit it. Thraan said that his life began when he took the throne and that anything prior to that was just whimisical tales. Thraan had his family ushered away and hidden so that they could not blow his fake identity, yet his much younger sister was still residing in the village. Thraan and his little sister Straena were close so it was no wonder why he wouldn't usher away his frail younger sister. Straena had succumb to scale young when she was younger and fortunately a Drege healer ,known throughout the kindom as Satina of the Starlit night, was able to nurse her to health, yet the young girls lungs were not the same she couldn't do alot of things and was made to stay inside alot. Thraan it was true to say had once been kind and gentle, but the war changed him he came back rough and savage. At the tender age of 17 Thraan competed in the Drege tournament of champions, which is a tournament held when a king passes on in years and is not fit to rule. Thraan savagely beat all of the 75 competetors and as his first decree made a healing commitee make a syrum to treat scale lung. Thraan did visit his sister but always at night and never when others were around.

Palens plight

Palen had lived in the most unremarkable place in the entire dreg kingdom, Dusk marsh. Dusk marsh was a wallowing bastion of filth and poisonous vermin. If it was deadly deadmarsh had it crooks, killers they all took refuge here only to succumb to either scale lung or marsh rot. The dwellers in the marsh were regarded as sub drege not even counted among the Dregg kindoms population treated more as a society within a country.
